Adelia’s Point of View
The moon was high again. Gleamed in through the curtains. The aching in my chest had also subsided to barely a trickle.
Although my mood would have been better if I hadn’t been woken up to a struggle.
“What are you doing?” I asked, already sitting up in bed.
At the edge of the room, Siya’s chains were being loosened. His snarls and snaps had woken me up. The rustling of chains came second. Four men held him to the floor with all their strength.
None of them came from Lover’s Quarrel. None of them sparked my memory.
Dargan, to my surprise, stopped what he was doing and looked at me. Paused just enough that the rest of the men followed in his footsteps.
“Ciaran asked us to bring him down to the holding cells.” He said, sheepish. Color bloomed across his cheeks as well. From embarrassment. “And I’m sorry that I-”
I shook my head. “Why the fuck are you taking him away without my order? We weren’t done talking!” I screeched. Clawed at the tubes stuck into my arm. They ripped out and left droplets of blood right before closing up.
Dargan’s wide eyes grew even wider as I marched towards him.
“Ciaran said-”
“Fuck what Ciaran said. This is Lover’s Quarrel. I’m the Alpha here, last I checked. Get your hands off of him.” I exclaimed and clamped my hand down on one of the men’s arms.
He spun on me, nostrils flaring.
I hadn’t seen it coming. Couldn’t have predicted it. So, I recoiled out of instinct. Drew my hand away from him.
This enraged Siya to the point where he was pulling on the chains himself. Strained and groaned but pressed on.
“Fuck. He’s going to break loose. Adelia, get out of here. He’s going to-”
“All of you, get fucking off of him, now! Or I will hold you in contempt to an Alpha and imprison you.” I sneered.
They all stopped moving. Glanced at me as if seeing me for the first time. But all of their hands fell away from him. One of his chains was loose but that still left five others.
“Adelia, we have to take him to Ciaran. You spoke to him enough but you didn’t get anything out of him. It’s our turn to ask.”
I leveled a long look at him. Stared at him down my nose, despite him being taller. “How do you know I didn’t get anything out of him?”
This caught Dargan off-guard. “We… We just know.”
“The room is soundproof. You couldn’t have known a single thing unless you were listening in.” I accused.
I wouldn’t have put it past Ciaran to bug the room. The man loved control and anything out of his control freaked him out to no end.
“I tapped the room,” Ciaran said from the door. He was leaning against it with his arms crossed. Eyes dead-set on Siya.
Despite our conversation or lack thereof, I would have talked to him later on. I had been tired earlier. Deathly so. But I would have spoken to him eventually.
Especially when it came to my father.
“That was an invasion of privacy. And in my own pack, no less.” I hissed, letting all of my venom soak into my words.
“You have grown too close to him already. I couldn’t let your misguided views get in the way of getting answers. And that should be your first priority as well, seeing as he admitted that he wanted to kidnap you. That your father was involved.”
What part of tired didn’t he understand? If he had listened to the whole conversation, he would have known that I was down on my luck. He also would have known that I had omitted things from them.
And logically I would want to speak with him alone. Grew close to him in the span of a few hours. He was my fucking mate and I knew well enough how Ciaran got people to talk.
“You still don’t have any jurisdiction here. Alvara signed her rights over to me temporarily. Only a cancelation contract can break it. Which, I might add, she never wants to sign.” I threw.
Siya huffed beside me. And when I looked at him, his chest was puffed out. Smirk pulled the corner of his lip up.
He was proud.
Bastard.
“Do you want me to convince her to sign that document?”
“Do you want me to tell her that you bugged my room?” I asked in reply.
His eyes widened. Panic fluttered in his eyes.
I was right, then, to assume she didn’t know about his little bug. Alvara would be livid if she found out. Thought Ciaran was undermining not only me but her judgment in making me Alpha of Lover’s Quarrel.
“Now, kindly get the fuck out of my-”
Before I could finish, Maverick darted into the room, alongside Ulrich. Both men looked haggard. Flustered.
Maverick spoke with a strained voice. “Someone is attacking the pack. The civilians are scattered and dying. Whoever it is has zero regard for life. We need to act, fast.” He rushed out. Scanned the room, only for his eyes to settle on Siya. “Those are your fucking people, aren’t they?”
Siya remained silent. Brooding.
Our earlier conversation sprang into my mind.
He had warned me that this would happen. And I had shrugged it off. All the lives lost would be on my hands.
“Mobilize my personal guards. Take the civilians to the western mountain. The first block of the road leading into town is rigged with explosives that you can detonate remotely. Keep them there and when I give the order, evacuate the guards.” I instructed, going into Alpha mode without so much as a second thought.
“Why do you have-” Ciaran started but I was already brushing past him.
“There is no fucking time for that. People are dying. They want him and me. So, I’ll give them what they want.” I said again.
Behind me, a feral growl erupted from Siya. Bounced all around the room.
“You can’t go out there! They will fucking kill you!”
I paused. Twisted just enough so that I could see him clearly.
“But I thought they wanted me alive.”
“Not everyone knows how you fucking look, Adelia! Let me out of these chains and I can-”
I shrugged him off. Rolled my shoulders and turned back into the hallway. “You stay fucking here. You have done enough. Dargan?” I called over my shoulder.
“Yes, Alpha,”
Because that’s what I was right now. Their Alpha. Every last soul in this pack fell on me. Even the Alpha of Eiecrunt.
They were in my territory now.
“Send for Melissa. I need to be suited up and she is the only one who knows the combination to my walk-in safe. I’ll meet all of you out front in five. Get all of our best guards ready.”
I might not have been good with physical fighting. Could barely hold my own in the sparring ring. But on the gun range? I was a fucking god and I barely ever missed.
“Adelia!” Siya screamed again.
I could hear him screaming my name, even as I made my way up the stairs to my bedroom.
Mate or not, I couldn’t let him out. Not when they would cause a war just to get him back.
Siya’s Point of ViewMy rage fueled my muscles to the point where I was afraid they might tear apart. My fingers screamed at me to stop pulling at the metal around my waist. But I didn’t. Heard my shoulder pop but carried on.Even as the smell of blood filled my nose.Adelia was out there somewhere, getting hurt, no doubt. Stubborn fucking woman. She should have agreed to go with me. None of this would have happened if she had agreed. Finally, the sound of metal ripping apart and breaking filled my ears. The body shackle fell to the floor with a clang.Next came the shackles around my feet. They broke easier than the one around my waist. Was made of a thinner metal. But my hands were breaking open and scaring over in record time. Phaedra should have fucking waited. The bitch should have known I would need another day or two to get Adelia back home. Not rush in guns blazing. With my feet free, this only left my hands. I wasn’t going to rip them from my wrists with only one hand. No.
Adelia's Point of ViewThe last thing I remembered was being hauled across Siya's shoulder. Being dragged into the middle of the fucking battlefield with zero care in the world. Then a lancing pain in my side, for the second time in the last two days, and everything went black.Until now. I could make out the whirr of an engine. People spoke in hushed tones. None of them close to me. None of them could be identified. My eyelids felt like a ton of bricks were lying on them. Body was stiff and refused to obey me."You need to take it easy. Your body isn't coping well with being shot twice." Someone said above me. My eyelids fluttered but they refused to lift."Water..." I barely stammered out. My throat felt like the desert. There was a shuffling beside me. Someone moving. The voices around me stopped the moment the person moved.Where was I? "Here. Drink." The voice commanded and I felt something touch my parched lips. A straw. I sucked it into my mouth and gulped the contents d
Adelia's Point of View“Get out, Nessa,” Siya growled again and the girl shrunk into herself. My eyes narrowed at him.“If she goes, then so do you,” I replied, keeping my chin high. There was a spark in his eyes. A little more light entered them. As if he was caught by surprise.“You don’t want to know why she is my sister?” He asked me pointedly.Nessa’s eyes hurried between the two of us. Scanned each of us with the same amount of apprehension. Like I was the same person as him. As if I could ever fucking be.Shrugging, I sat upright. Crossed my arms over my chest. “Well, I assume when a mommy wolf loves a daddy wolf very much-““Can we keep her?” Nessa asked, face breaking into a large smile.Siya sighed. Pinched the bridge of his nose. “Go find father. Or anyone else. I would like to talk to Adelia alone.” He urged. The girl stood her ground.“Like she said, if I go, so do you,” Nessa stated and smiled deviously at her brother.I liked her. She caught on fast. Despite her ramming
Adelia’s Point of View“You still haven’t eaten,” Siya said as he strolled into the room. His eyes roamed his surroundings. Looked everywhere but at me.Dinner had come and gone. My plate still sat untouched on the small table beside the door. Right where I had placed it before slamming the door shut in the servant’s face. Two could play his childish little games.“I’m not hungry.” I quipped and shoved away the drawing I had been working on.There was no use in inflating his ego more by letting him see the damned thing.Despite my best efforts, I couldn’t fully capture the intensity of his eyes. Not that I could fully comprehend them even in real life.“That was your excuse for lunch and two tea times as well. I have to send a new server every fucking time because apparently you make them all cry.”“They’re crying because they have to work for you.” I replied and decided to rather crumple up the page I had been drawing on.There was no use in trying to get it right. I wouldn’t be able
Adelia's Point of View“I never thought I would see the day the mighty Siya Mxolisi got blue balls. But here we are and I am so fucking amused.” Nessa chimed, her pace beside me rhythmic.I scowled at her but kept my pace light. Felt my blood course through my veins soothingly. “I’m surprised he actually thought I would sleep with him after he literally kidnapped me,” I replied, venom seeping from every word. Our little tryst in his room was nothing. Meant nothing. Not whilst I was his prisoner. And seeing as that last fact won’t change for a while, I refused to bend to his will.Nessa stiffened at the tone of my voice. Her pace faltered for a second before catching up again. “You don’t seem as angry as I imagined you’d be,” She stated.Across the courtyard, I could see Siya standing beside one of his other guards. His eyes never left my form. Even when he had stormed out of the room after my rejection last night. He still seemed intent on watching me.“There’s no time for anger. Not
Adelia's Point of ViewThe garden emptied on a phantom wind. Syphered away without so much as a word. And I was left to face an angry Siya on my own. How wonderful."What do you think you are doing?" He asked again, grinding his teeth in the process. My eyes snapped up at his. All of my emotions drained out of my features. But I couldn't forget the feel of him. How he held me up against that wall last night. The way he stormed off when I didn't give him exactly what he wanted."I just wanted to know the time. Is that a crime? If so, need I remind you of yours?" I threw back and aimed to leave. Slip right past him and go back to his room. The only place no one else would bother me.Deft fingers launched forward and gripped my upper arm.Cold eyes snapped towards his fingers on me. Disdain shifted my face. Lip curled upward. All a farce. Because just the feel of them caused immense pleasure. Pleasure I had no intention of following through on. But it was there and it was hard to ignore
Adelia's Point of ViewTossing in bed was my new hobby in life. Wondering where Siya was came in close at second place. My mind wandered to him, not my escape, more than I cared to admit. It was infuriating. Distracting. Especially when I knew that Phaedra would be here in the next 48 hours. Or less. The time frame for my escape was closing swiftly and here I was, awake in the middle of the night, pining after her most prized lap dog."This is insufferable," I groaned and turned onto my stomach. The cool sheets wrapped around my cheek. Broke some of the heat from my thoughts. "Tell me about it," A deep voice answered from the door. Flying up, I narrowed my eyes into the darkness. Waited a second for my vision to adjust. "What the fuck are you doing in here?" I asked, unable to stop my voice from wavering a bit.Siya was shirtless. Stood in the door like a pillar of beautiful ebony. His shoulder was pressed against the frame. Eyes keenly on me."Last I checked, this was my room." "
Adelia's Point of View"You look beautiful!" Nessa exclaimed and clapped her hands together in excitement.Eyeing myself in the large mirror, I cringed at how much I looked like my old self. "I look like a whore." I ground out and turned away from the image.Nessa's brows furrowed. Mouth opened slightly as she beheld me. "Well, a beautiful whore. Make all the boy whores go whaaa." I perked up an eyebrow at her. "What an odd fucking statement to make." She seemed offended for a second. Held her hand over her heart. "Don't tell me you never watched Princess Diaries. It was a cultural masterpiece," When I didn't respond, she sighed deeply. "Did you grow up beneath a rock or something? What's wrong with you?" I hadn't grown up under a rock. My father just never allowed me to watch TV. Wanted me to practice my piano and dance. How to become a perfect wife. Everything else took second place to him."Whatever. Let's just get going. I don't want to piss off your brother more than I alrea
Adelia's Point of ViewThey both cleaned up well. Looked dashing in their suits. But the scene in front of me was obscenely strange. Two fully grown men hiding behind a bush. One with an empty glass of some type of alcohol in hand. The other laughing maniacally into the dark If it hadn't been for me noticing their scents nearby, we wouldn't have found them at all. With their vantage, they could see the entire party perfectly. Still, they chose to hide away. Watched from the outside. And the moment they turned around to look at us, both of their jaws dropped to the floor.I knew Nessa had done a good job of styling me. Knew I looked better than I had ever done before. But their reactions were priceless. Worth every single burn Nessa had given me when she tried to curl my hair for the updo."Close your mouths, boys, it's fly season." Nessa joked from beside me. Chortled when all Michael could do was curse again, eyes digging up my flesh inch by inch. Siya wasn't far behind. Let his ey
Siya's Point of ViewI was a mated male. For one, I couldn't believe I wasn't dead yet. At the end of my twenties and I was still alive and well. Or as well as I could be, given that my body was a royal fuck up at the moment. But not dead. Not yet. And not anytime soon. Second, I was mated and in a new pack. Watched now as my old pack members streamed into a lush and vibrant garden made up for them and only them. To welcome them into a new and more stable home.If only the rest of my pack could have followed as well. Could have escaped the hell that was now Noha Khoeli. My mother would have been proud to see me now. Would have loved to know that her son was not only living but thriving. Saddened by the fact that her daughter had turned into such a cruel monster, yes, but glad to know her son had escaped that reality."Well, don't you clean up well," Michael crooned as he approached me from behind.I was standing in the shadows. Avoided anyone looking at me yet. Speaking to me. Mainly
Adelia's Point of View"Stop fussing! Everything has been sorted outside. It is two hours before the ceremony starts, we need to get ready!" I screeched at Nessa, hand clamped around her wrist and pulling her furiously into my walk-in closet. She was finding every reason in the book not to go inside and look at all of her options. From the decor to the food and everything in between. "Shit needs to be perfect and that fucking florist put one too many fucking roses in the centerpieces," She argued back whilst pulling away from me.A child with a new toy, that's what she was acting like right now."One too many roses isn't going to kill anyone, Nessa! But we can't be late for our own party," I hissed again and finally dragged her the rest of the way into the closet. The overhead lights flickered on the second they detected us. Flooded the small but packed space with light. And shimmers and sparkles from the clothes around us. This was where I kept most of my fancy clothes. The kind t
Adelia's Point of ViewI left Michael at the pack house with Aiden. Both men were walking around the place, making sure that every security measure under the sun was well in place. Nukes weren't the only threat we had to face. If Phaedra wanted to she could send an entire army to come and eviscerate us for what we had done to her pack. A tit for tat kind of thing. So the men peacocked around, trying to figure out every single weak point within the pack house grounds."I'm back," I called into the house and closed the door behind me.Groans sounded throughout the house, coming from upstairs. Groans. Moans. A few curses every once in a while. This was followed by a shrill voice that I couldn't make out the words from.Making my way up the stairs, I felt my teeth grind together as the groans intensified. Nessa was doing a number on her brother and showed zero remorse. When I walked in, she was straddling his ass, working her hands up and down the length of his spine. Siya's face was tw
Adelia's Point of ViewHis lips were as soft as I had remembered them. As intoxicating as well. But this time, his hands roamed my body freely. Hungrily. Claiming every inch as if he would never have the chance again. As if he needed to feel me to believe that we were doing this.Settling my own hands in his hair, I pulled his face away and smiled at him softly. Felt my heart still beating a mile a minute as he stared down at me. Blue eyes were half-lidded and twinkling when he looked down at me. Smiling like a damned fool.Ever so slowly he brushed a hand down the side of my face. Swept some of my baby hair back behind my ear. "You are so utterly beautiful that I might just die from looking at you too long." He whispered, breathing fanning my face in a minty puff. I rolled my eyes and shook his head for him. "That was maybe the cheesiest thing you have ever said to me," I bemoaned, unable to look even a tad bit disgusted by it.Because he could say those things to me my entire lif
Adelia's Point of ViewFor the first night where both of my mates were with me, we all collectively decided to sleep on our own. Not because I wouldn't have loved it to be the filling between both men but rather because neither of them felt very comfortable with that yet.Which was to be understood.I wouldn't know how to feel sleeping with my mate and his other mate. But Nessa's couches slept like utter shit! The girl had really said 'fashion and fuck the rest'. They were lovely to look at. Wonderful to curl up on. Horrendous for the back. So, when I finally woke up, I felt like an old woman climbing out of her coffin. My spine was shot to hell. Knees creaked from having had to curl them to my chest for the entire night. And if I felt this way, I didn't even want to know how Michael must have felt."We really should have brought another mattress," I groaned and stretched. Some of my limbs popped in their sockets, making me wince.Siya grumbled something into his pillow on the mattre
Adelia's Point of View"And you made sure to ask him that everything was disabled? Thrown away? Burned?" Nessa screeched, hands on her hips as she paced the length of the living room.Every time she passed Aiden, he reached for her but she was having none of it. Dodged his efforts every single time with a dip of her shoulder. Or a sneer when he got too close to calming her down."Ozias asked Dargan to check everything. He even sent over a plan of the house and where Ciaran placed everything," Michael explained and let his eyes dance over to mine. "He also apologized profusely for what his Alpha has done." "In what regard? Because everything he has done has been more than fucked up from what I hear." Nessa seethed again.Aiden made a last lunge towards her and when she dodged out of his way, he threw his hands up in exasperation. Looked done with trying. Hell, with living at this point. It was funny to witness them together.Him, the pragmatic planner who thought shit through. Her, wh
Michael's Point of ViewShe was fine. More than fine, actually, from the looks of things. Adelia was joking and laughing. Kidding around with Siya and his lack of cooking skills. Made fun of the fact that a carrot nearly took him out. And her with him, if she hadn't stopped healing him when she had. But she was bubbly and happy. Looked relaxed, even when I tried to tickle her feet. Or got her to snort coffee through her nose by accident. This felt comfortable. Easy. Like this was the place I had always been destined to find. A home I always needed to occupy.Logically she had tried several times to get back to planning. Or tried to sneak away with her phone, just to make a few calls, she had assured us. Neither of us let her, on orders of the Beta of the pack.Your first healing was as taxing on the body as your first shift. Something I had to keep in mind once I won her over and got her to turn me. The process and changes of it all were grueling enough that even Alpha pups were
Adelia's Point of ViewI was helped down the stairs. Helped, like a damned invalid. All because my body had decided healing a gash on an arm was one too much.Sure, give it a kidnapping. Nearly being killed. Being held captive by your deranged mother. Escaping said Mother. Organizing one large ass ceremony. And everything in between. But goddess forbid I tried healing someone. That was just fucking unacceptable. At first, both had offered to help me down. Neither wanted the other to help. A few glares had been exchanfged. Maybe a profanity or two, said through their eyes and luckily not their mouths.By the time they were done with their pissing contest, I was already at the door, tired of their bullshit. Scolded them for handling me like I was broken and not just tired. That had been the final straw for them to back off. Michael had been the winner in the end, to my utter dismay. His hand around my waist and my arm around his shoulders caused us to touch all up my side. Forced so m
