CHAPTER 2 (VISENNA POV)

I bowed in greetings but no one responded.

They all stared at me with disdain and it felt like the ground would swallow me up. I had never thought that a day would come when the court members would stare down coldly at me.

"Alpha Cahir must have informed you already and we presumed that you know why we are here," one of the elders said, shifting slightly in his seat.

"Since you can't bring forth an heir, we have colluded to get a breeder for you and your husband. This is Daphne, she will raise an heir for the pack," Fiona, Cahir's mother said with disdain. 

Her words and tone cut to the bones but the most shocking thing was the identity of the breeder. 

I shuddered and felt dizzy immediately. Daphne can't be the breeder! Why would they bring in someone familiar and from the past? 

Daphne had an unhealthy obsession towards Cahir and when she realised that she couldn't have him, she poisoned me with wolfsbane. I narrowly escaped death. We parted ways after the incident.

Slowly my gaze settled eyes on Daphne and she stared at me haughtily without blinking.

Cahir seemed to be as stunned as I was. He was obviously meeting his breeder for the first time and he was blown off his feet.

Underlying the shock in his eyes was a look of admiration and awe. His eyes glazed down Daphne's length and they melted just like the way he usually looks at me. My heart sank and I almost fell.

Cahir grabbed me but I pulled out of his grip and they all scoffed. 

I gave Daphne a cold glare and without saying a word I bowed in greetings and walked out on them.

"Viz!" Cahir called but Fiona stopped him. "Don't you dare walk out on your elders. Moreover, your breeder is here, the maids will prepare her for the night.

I remained in my chambers all night waiting for Cahir but he didn't show up. I remained on my bed all night and thought of the unimaginable. I envisioned Cahir touching and caressing Daphne and my heart sank. 

In my distress, Daphne's muffled moan resonated through the walls. It sounded all night as Cahir burned her with passion.

The next day was a gloomy day for me. I had cried my eyes out all night and it was time to accept my reality.

I had just finished preparing for the day and I was wondering if I could show up at the Alpha's office or not. I had concluded overnight that the best thing was to avoid Daphne. I didn't want to run into her.

"My Luna, Alpha Cahir seeks an audience…" the maids in my chambers announced and before I turned around, I had already perceived his scent.

"Viz! I am so sorry… I had no choice," he pleaded. His lazy blue eyes roamed over me. He pulled me into his embrace and hugged me tightly. I tried to wind my arms around him but tears fell from my eyes and my heart raced.

"Believe me, she is nothing but a breeder," he reassured me and pulled me out of his chest, cleaning my tears.

I wanted to believe him but I couldn't. Something had changed between us. His steamy gaze held mine and he was about to speak when an urgent message came.

"My Alpha, Lady Daphne seeks an audience…" Before the maid finished, I heard a loud sound of scuffle in the corridor and Daphne burst into my room.

"What the heck is she doing here?" I broke away from Cahir, looking at her in shock.

"You should remain in your chambers Daphne, You can't bump in here until you are invited in," Cahir said uneasily.

"She?" Daphne said, turning in my direction.

"I am here, You can address me directly." 

I became speechless and waited for Cahir to address the issue but he said nothing. 

"Why are you here?" He asked Daphne calmly and walked closer to her.

"I have missed you," she purred and nudged closer to him.

Cahir was flustered, he threw a glance my way and right under my nose, Daphne threw her arms around his neck and kissed him fully on the lips.

"hmmm…" she moaned loudly while Cahir's eyes were on me. 

"Not here, sweetheart," he broke away and nudged her around until his arm was on the small of her back. Without sparing me a glance, he walked away.

Daphne looked over his shoulders. She gave me a good glare and a mocking grin before they vanished.

"Oh!" I held my head and staggered around. My maids held me in place and helped me to the couch.

I spent the whole day in my chambers. The strength to resume to the Alpha office was gone.

The next day, Cahir invited me to the office and apologised for Daphne's rude behaviour. "I have warned her," he said and I nodded.

Days turned into weeks and Cahir didn't visit my chambers. Every night, whispers of passion from the breeder's chambers filled the air while I loathed in my room shedding tears.

It was the quarterly court meeting and I decided to attend. When I got in I was surprised to find Daphne already seated.

Why would a mere breeder be allowed into such an important gathering? Isn't she just a breeder? 

The most disturbing fact was that none of the elders of Fauna Pack was in the gathering. 

I have merged my pack with Riverdale now and I have a say over the order of affairs.

I decided to bring up the issue during the meeting. But all through the meeting, I couldn't concentrate. 

My gaze moved from Daphne to Cahir and Fiona. Cahir could hardly take his eyes off Daphne. As for me he didn't recognize my presence nor threw a glance my way. 

I watched them all through until the meeting ended. I lost the chance to bring up my observation. 

Slowly, I rose up and made my way out of the courtroom. "I will speak privately with Cahir," I assured myself.

The elders avoided me like I was a pest. They threw glances at me and it felt like I was walking on needles, but I didn't give them the satisfaction that they wanted. 

With shoulders high and chest out, I walked gracefully, ignoring all that was playing in my head. 

As I took the last step out, I felt a pull behind me. Someone dragged me back and I scampered around. I swayed right and left but I regained my gait and didn't fall. 

A loud thud sounded behind me and I turned around immediately. Daphne had crashed into the ground and she was groaning loudly in pain.
