Ariezel

The constant continuous beeping that filled the room was the only constant I had, grounding me.

I didn't know how long it had been since I simply sat in silence. Alys and Harriet had left at my insistence, and it felt like an eternity had passed since then.

I whipped my head to the door to meet his pair of green eyes staring back at me.

“Asher."

He was here.

“You left." I said.

“I'm sorry. I'm so sorry I left without a word." His words seeped with regret. “I had to…there are no excuses to give."

The moment he left I thought…

“I thought that you hated me.” I whispered out, feeling him stiffen and his hands tighten.

“I would never hate you. Never." He said, swearing out loud. I felt his hand ghost through my hair, the sensation helping me relax a bit.

“I'm the one who deserves to apologize. For everything I said before. I was a fool. The worst kind."

I looked up, shaking my head fervently. How could he apologize when he hadn't known?
