An eerie silence resided in each corner as anxiety clutched at the dying man's heart.
The room was filled with the smell of dried blood as the man on the floor trembled, scared of his almost written fate.
Strong footsteps echoed in the empty basement as they reached the trembling man's body on the floor.
Footsteps halted as the man with power and dominance radiating off of his large posture sat down on the chair in front of the lying man.
"Boss, he hasn't said a word." One of his men spoke tensing slightly when the man folded his sleeves up at such a slow and menacing pace, that his men gulped in anticipation.
The boss placed his elbows on his knees and ever so slowly he moved forward. His face came out of the shadows as he placed two fingers on his lips with his thumb beneath his chin as if calculating the ways to kill the man lying in front.
The man who was lying on the floor stared at the ruthless man and all the blood drained out of his system when his eyes met with the man.
Stormy grey spheres stared at him with such vicious fierceness that the trembling man moved back in shock.
His posture was so strong and dominant full of authority as power oozed out of him in waves. The man was sitting so calmly that not a single creature could predict what he was thinking but one thing was sure.
His eyes held the promise of death. His presence was screaming the deadly vows.
"I k..know you will kill me!" The bruised guy said in a shaky whisper, trying to appear fearless but it was useless.
"Your spirit is commendable," the grey-eyed man's voice boomed in the empty place.
"But you'll break before dying. I'll make sure of it," He sneered. His voice was a deep baritone that sent chills down that boy's spine.
"Bring him in," the man barked.
Two of his men dragged a man inside before roughly throwing him on the dirty floor.
Jacob sat up slowly as he noticed Marcus all bloody and bruised.
Both the men stared at each other stunned.
"What a beautiful reunion," the grey-eyed boss mused with a dark undertone in his voice.
"Marcus is your student, Jacob. Am I right?" The man asked, facing Jacob. His elbows rested on his wide-opened thighs and his tattooed fingers were intertwined.
"He's not my teacher-" Marcus was cut short as a solid punch landed on his face and he fell two feet away groaning in pain. His jawbone cracked as blood spilled out of his mouth. The tormentor wasn't human. He had inhuman powers and he was strong beyond comprehension.
"Did I tell you to speak?" The boss hissed maliciously that the quivering man felt his heart coming to his mouth.
Jacob watched Marcus with wide eyes and slowly anger consumed him.
"You bastard!" Jacob yelled ready to attack him when two of the men in black held his shoulder and forced him onto his knees in front of their boss.
"Who was that girl?" He asked calmly.
Instead of answering simply, Jacob spits on the floor in defiance.
The grey-eyed guy threw his head back as he confined his eyes for the briefest second before he got up from the chair and prowled towards Marcus.
Jacob panicked. "He's just a student. You have me. Let him go!" Jacob yelled but the huge beast of a man grasped Marcus' hair and yanked him up to his feet as he made him face Jacob.
The boss moved his head in a circular motion. Looking like a deranged psycho.
His men held their breath. "Cole!" The man snarled.
Cole, who was the right in command of the boss and also the Beta stepped forward holding a sword in his hand.
The boss then took the sword from him as he faced Jacob. "It's the sharpest blade made in our lands. I'm going to try it on your student. But you can stop me- only if you tell me who that girl was?" The boss said in a low gravel voice.
Jacob's eyes were fixed on Marcus who was crying all bruised and bloodied. Pleading with him with his eyes to save him.
"S...she wanted to train. She was here to get the training," Jacob lied as the boss tilted his head.
"You're lying," He whispered ominously.
His jaw ticked in anger and when he opened his eyes again. They were golden pools of wrath. He plunged the blade into Marcus' stomach, he coughed out blood.
"NO!!" Jacob yelled, struggling hard to get free as Marcus fell on the floor. The blade was still inside him.
"NOOOO!!!" Jacob cried out as he fell to his knees.
Cole picked up Marcus and dragged him away from there. Marcus wasn't dead. "Don't kill him. He is innocent!" Jacob shouted looking up at him.
"And so were my people," the man said calmly, glaring down at Jacob.
"I'll kill every one of you. You've killed hundreds of my people. I'll wipe this earth of humans. Because of you werewolf hunters, the innocent humans will die as well!" The man snarled like a barbarian.
"I have the leader of the werewolf hunter at my mercy. Your empire will fall soon," he hissed, and next thing he aimed his gun at Jacob and...
BOOM!
A loud shot was heard as it echoed in each corner, spreading the secrecy of deadly tales.
Jacob suppressed the cry of pain as he was shot in the thigh.
An evil smoke erupted from the gun's hole from where the bullet had been fired as the guy lightly blew on it feeling peace.
His body eased up, his eyes speaking volumes of how painful their deaths would be. Mess with him all you want but never just never go after his people. Because if you do, you'll probably end up six feet under the ground.
The grey-eyed man didn't say a word as his men dragged Jacob away.
Rubbing a hand across his heavy stubble he cracked his neck. Taking out his cigarette he lit it up, placing the end on his lips. As he tucked the gun behind his back.
He swiveled around walking out of the creepy building as Cole followed closely behind.
"Any news?" He asked. "They are waiting for you outside," Cole said as they stepped outside into the fresh air.
Ten of his men approached him. His dark eyes scanned the place but there was no girl in sight. He was already pissed but he stayed calm as he dragged a long puff of his cigarette.
"Boss," the man said in a panicked stricken voice as he kept his eyes glued on the floor.
"Her scent washed away because of the rain. We were just about to catch her but someone abducted her," One of the guys said.
"She got abducted right in front of your eyes?" The boss asked.
They gulped.
"It was a woman who took her," the other guy said.
The beast of a man shook his head and then he let out booming laughter. It was sinister and humorless.
Aiden Whitlock.
The name that sent terrifying shudders down his enemies' spines.
A 26-year-old Alpha King of his world. And the most ruthless Màfia Lord of the human world.
Aiden was the strongest Alpha through and through. He had saved his people from the clutches of death many times.
Since the humans find out about werewolves. Werewolf hunters were trained. They were ordered to kill Aiden's people.
Only the secret elite group of people knew about the existence of supernatural creatures and they've been trying their best to kill all of them.
The last king, Aiden's father stayed quiet to the death of his people but once Aiden took the throne. He vowed to get rid of every last werewolf hunter. If he had to kill all humans to achieve his goal. He would do exactly that. For him. His people were his priority. He could kill for them without even batting an eye.
The cold-blooded killing of his people has dwindled after he took the throne. Aiden had captured the leader of the werewolf hunters. Now it was a matter of time before the humans would be on their knees begging for mercy and he would spare them none.
The only thing that Aiden hated in this world with his whole being was humans. He hated them. He wanted a human-free world for his people. For him, humans were like parasites and he would leave no stone unturned just to get rid of them once and for all.
Just because of his hatred of humans. He was known well in the human world as a cruel monster. He was a well-known self-made billionaire in the eyes of humans but was secretly an underground mafia lord. He was known for his barbaric ways of killing his enemies. People were terrified of him. His name was enough for them to wet their pants.
He was a nightmare for humans.
The girl who escaped was important to Jacob. That was why he screamed at her to run. Aiden has been keeping an eye on him for months. That man has no family which meant no weakness but who was that girl? She must be important.
"Sorry boss," One of the men said and he felt his temper rising.
"You all grown-up men couldn't catch a f*cking girl?" He roared as they flinched back. Dominating Alpha's aura exuded out of him in deadly surges as they balked back.
"Find them! I want that girl!" He growled as they nodded their heads.
They turned to leave when he stopped them. "The girl had a duffle in her hand. Look for her at the airport or transport stations, you'll find her if she tries to escape," He ordered them as they scurried away.
Dragging a long puff of his cigarette he exhaled smoke as Cole came to stand beside him.
"What are you thinking?" Cole asked as Aiden gazed up at the dark inky sky, the scattered pieces of ghastly grey clouds adorned the sky. The air was fresh after the rain.
"I'm thinking about her," Aiden muttered calmly.
Though Aiden was the ruthless Alpha King. But for his family, he was just Aiden and Cole was his best friend since childhood. He was the only one who could talk to Aiden so casually and could even call him by his name.
"Do you think she's related to Jacob?" Cole asked, tucking his hands in his pants pockets as the cool breeze swept past them.
"Maybe or maybe not," Aiden shrugged his shoulders.
It was a miracle that a tiny girl escaped his men just like that and the fact that she was just a mere human was even more insulting.
"What if she was no one?" Cole queried.
"Then we'll just have to kill her. We can't have more humans knowing about our existence," Aiden said casually as he puffed out smoke.
His dark black hair was tied back in a man bun and a rogue strand disturbed his eyes.
"And if she's related to Jacob?" Cole put forward his thoughts.
"Then we'll have his weakness," Aiden mused. How he wished that girl to be somehow related to Jacob. It will be so exhilarating. He would surely enjoy taming Jacob by using his weakness against him. But only if that was the case.
"It seemed like the woman who saved that girl was Lilith," Cole said.
"Yes, and if Lilith comes out of her hiding just to save a mere girl then brother, that girl ain't just any girl," Aiden said and Cole smirked.
Lilith was the second in command of Jacob. They both were the leaders of the secret werewolf hunter organization. Aiden already had their leader, now only Lilith was left to be captured.
"I'll wipe this world clean," Aiden smirked as he stroked his tongue on his front teeth in a devilish manner. His grey spheres shone with mirth. He was elated tonight. Finally, he got that f*cker Jacob in his clutches. Soon this world would be a better place for his people to live freely without any fear of their reality coming out. Because there won't be any human parasites.
"I'll make it a better place for my people," Aiden's gruff voice was a thick baritone as Cole gazed into the woods ahead. A solemn expression on his face as he stared quietly and stood beside his Alpha.
"Good days are not far," Aiden rasped.
Her head was pounding in pain as she slowly blinked her eyes open. Her eyelids felt so heavy. A groan of pain escaped her lips as she turned around on the hard mattress. She gazed at the dull ceiling. This wasn't her room. And just like that, the events of last night bombarded her head and she abruptly sat up.Her wide eyes bounced around the room to find it empty. The furniture looked old and dirty. She got out of bed only to freeze when she found herself wearing a loose dress that reached her calves. She wasn't wearing anything inside and her bag was nowhere in sight. Her eyes glossed up as dread started to creep into her bones. Where was she? Her clothes. Did someone do something bad to her? Her heart squeezed in pain in her chest. She heard footsteps approaching and her eyes broadened in fear. She looked around the room but there was no window or restroom where she could hide. Grabbing the lamp from the bedside table she held it like a weapon as she waited like a scared kitten for
Ava couldn't sleep properly for two weeks straight. She was drained and cried every night. She even missed the date for submitting her university application. She kept thinking about how they would've killed her father. How much they had tortured him.Her life was not on the right track and she was afraid to share the loss of her father with Annie. She couldn't even imagine how Annie would react. She'll be so heartbroken. Annie never got to meet their mother because her mother died while birthing Annie and now she lost her father as well. They were orphans. Ava was in depression and staying at home all the time wasn't helping her. She wasn't even eating properly. Sitting on the couch in the lounge, she was silently weeping again. She cried for a while before she wiped her tears and pulled to her feet. She had to compose herself. Ava made up her mind to look for a job. Her father wasn't there to help her with the finances anymore and the amount he left will be used for Annie's educ
Ava was walking down the street. She woke up early, had a shower, got ready, and quickly had a sandwich and coffee before stepping out. She checked the time and there were still twenty minutes left before the bakery opened. She was going through her phone when she heard a yelp. Her eyes snapped up and she noticed a cyclist bumping against something he lost balance and the next thing he crashed into her as they tumbled down. She winced in pain feeling weight on top of her. "Oh, I'm sorry," The person quickly moved back and she tried to sit up but a whimper left her lips feeling pain in her arm. She looked down to find blood. She got her arm scratched through something from the cycle. "I'm so sorry, are you alright?" The guy asked, panicking as he saw the blood. Grabbing his handkerchief he wiped the blood. More people approached as a lady helped her to the street cafe and helped her sit on the chair. The guy wiped her blood. It was a small cut. After a couple of minutes, it stoppe
"How are you, potato?" Ava asked her sister while keeping her eyes on the door. There were no customers at the moment. "Stop calling me that! I'm good. How are you? I miss you so much, Ava. Claire and I baked lava cake last night in our dorm. It tasted awesome. I'll make it for you next time only if you'll be nice to me and ask nicely," Annie said like the little cute brat she was. Ava's heart twisted up in knots. She had to tell Annie about their father soon. "I'd love to taste it but you'll make it anyway for me so I ain't asking nicely, potato. When are your finals?" She asked. "You're aka bully. The finals are probably at the end of next week. The date is not confirmed yet. I can't wait to meet you after that." Annie's cheerful voice was heard. "Me too, I love you, potato" Ava said. "I love you too, bully" Annie responded as they said their goodbyes. Her phone vibrated with a message and she smiled at her screen. It was Annie's picture with the lava cake as she grinned at th
Ava stepped out of the bathroom freshly showered and donning her night shorts. Drying her hair with her towel, Ava plopped on the sofa and took a bite of her sandwich. The doorbell rang and her brows creased for a fleeting second before it was gone. It must be Mrs. Smith, her neighbor. She was a very kind woman. Always brought her souvenirs and food. Sinking her feet into fluffy flats, Ava checked the door. The girl paused as the small towel dropped from her hand. Her eyes widened in shock as she blinked once and then twice. A Greek God was standing at the door. It was no one other than Mr. Whitlock. He was freaking shirtless. Holy moly! The man was built through and through like the perfect sculpture. As if God created him with divine attention. Those massive shoulders, sturdy chest, chiseled abs, the contours of every muscle. Her eyes glided over the number of scars that littered his body. Was he in a war or something? She wasn't breathing. Her sole focus was on the art crafted
"This is your first time?" Vanessa was a bit stunned by Ava's confession. They were at the club and it was her first time there. Though she wasn't wearing anything fancy. Ava was in waist-length jeans and a crop top. Her wavy long hair was up in a ponytail. They got off work and Vanessa dragged her to the club. When Vanessa found out Ava had no friends, she made up her mission to introduce her to her friend circle and help her get a life."Yeah, you see, going to such places requires friends or a partner but I'm single and lack friends. I wasn't the adventurous type but I do like having fun occasionally," Ava said, staring down at her juice. "You're boring as f*ck. Let me guess, the adventure in your nerdy dictionary is reading your favorite book at home or going out on a walk at night to get fresh air and feel as if you've achieved something incredible because you make it back home alive.""How did you know?" Ava asked, a bit stunned. Vanessa's eyes flew wide. "You f*cking kiddin
"The f*ck!" Vanessa was dumbfounded. "Quiet down," Ava tried to hush her. "What the actual f*ck! So you're telling me, that handsome hunk you were drooling over is your neighbor. You found it out five days ago and thought of informing me now! And to top the charts, he showed up wounded at your door and you tended to his wound last night." "Pretty much sums up." "You f*cking kidding me?" "Do I look like I'm kidding?" "What is this? A romantic series of hot neighbors?" "I thought that too. No wonder we bond too well, Van." The bell dinged and customers stepped in. "You better tell me all the deets once our shift ends," Vanessa said before hurrying to the kitchen as Ava greeted the customers and took their orders. Retrieving her phone she texted Annie. Ava: How was your exam? Tucking it in her pocket she looked up only to gasp. This was the second time he had walked in without any sound. Ava glared at the bell and wondered why the hell it wouldn't jiggle when he stepped in.
"What are you staring at?" Alice bumped Ava's shoulder. "Nothing," She muttered going through the text that popped on her screen. Khoroshaya Devochka. She was looking for the meaning of it. It took her some time to properly spell it and when she found the meaning she couldn't help the blush that crept on her cheeks. Good girl. He called her a good girl. God! Why did her face feel so hot? "Are you learning Russian?" Alice probed as Ava slid her phone into her pants and focused on her friends. They were currently at Audrey's place who invited them all for drinks. Ava didn't drink but she still joined them for the fun of it. "Nah.""Let's play, never have I ever." Vanessa mused. "I'll start, never have I ever seen a ghost." Alice mused as they all formed a circle holding shots in their hands. Daniel gulped down his shot and everyone gaped at him wide-eyed. "You've seen a ghost?" Audrey asked in a spooky tone. "Yeah, she's sitting in front of me," Daniel said with a poker face. A
8 years later. Her brows furrowed and a moan slipped through her lips. Confusion washed over her sleepy state as she slowly opened her eyes, Ava felt it and her eyes widened. There was something inside her. Moving. The familiarity soaked her senses. Her gaze flickered to the man on top of her. "Good morning, baby." Thrust. Her lips parted, feeling every inch of him. "Aiden," She breathed his name. He had a pillow resting beneath her hips, holding her legs wide open, he slowly moved in and out of her. "You should've woken me up," she said in her slurry morning voice. "I want to wake you up like this. The expression of surprise and pleasure on your face is a treat to my eyes," He mused. Voice deep and husky with a perfect sleepy edge to it. His hair was a mess, brows furrowed as he moved inside her. She opened her arms, and he leaned in, pressing his lips on hers in a soft kiss, his chest pressing on her bare breasts. His hand slid between them as he grabbed
Ava sat at the edge of the pool with her legs immersed in the water while gazing at the beautiful sky which resembled a dark storm. The ghastly grey clouds scattered over the sky veiling the twinkling stars and glorious moon as a chilling breeze swept past her. It was calming. She loved this weather. The serenity before the rain. The storm. The darkness. The wild breeze. The weather seemed to be in ruthless chaos. Mayhem, and then it bursts in the form of rain. With rain, everything blurred out and all that mattered at that moment was just the present. As the heavy downpour tumbled down, the breeze felt ecstatic. The darkness felt soothing. The fresh scent of after-rain felt surreal. Ava smiled a little startled when the clouds grumbled wildly. A promise of a downpour in its wake. A month had passed since Ava came back to live with Aiden. He took care of everything and wouldn't even let her step out of bed. Ava got better in a week, but he was just too caring. Aiden would s
"What the f*ck are you doing here?" Jacob growled, his hands fisted on his sides and by the dark look on her father's face, she knew he was mad. She had never seen him this pissed in her entire life. "I came to see my wife," Aiden said calmly, pulling to his feet. His eyes lingered over Ava for a couple of seconds before he faced Jacob. There was something about Aiden. He stood tall with his shoulders squared, staring down at her father with that blank look. He resembled a hidden menace. "Your wife? She's not your wife!" Jacob barked. Aiden's jaw ticked as he noticed from his peripheral vision that Ava had stepped out of the bed. "She is my wife, Jacob. I've thought hard about it and concluded. I can't let her go and no one can make me think otherwise." His voice was firm. "Are you in the right state of mind? She is in this condition because of you. It's better if you leave my daughter alone." Jacob fumed. "As I said. I cannot let her go." Aiden's tone oozes out fin
Ava was lying in bed. She was sleepy but she didn't let herself doze off. She waited. Patiently. Hours passed and he didn't show up. Maybe it was all her imagination. Ava buried her face in the pillow and tears of frustration gathered in her eyes. She wants to kill him. Maybe she could; once she gets better. Burying her face further in the pillow she let her body relax and tried to sleep. The ticking of the wall clock was the only faint noise in the silent room. Her breathing relaxed and she tilted her face, her eyes droopy. Just when she was about to drift into her sleep. She heard a light noise. Followed by a heavy thump of boots on the balcony. Ava's eyes flew wide when she heard the subtle creak of the window. A light shuffling and she slammed her eyes close, evening out her breathing and calming her heartbeat, pretending to sleep. She didn't hear a single sound but suddenly goosebumps rose on her flesh when she felt an intense gaze followed by a soft caress on her che
Three days went by in a state of daze and blur. Most of the time she was sleeping and when she was awake, Ava just stared at the ceiling and reeled that barbaric night in her head on a loop. In these three days, Aiden didn't show up. He had abandoned her. The more time passed, the more she felt she was losing herself in silent distress. She hasn't said a single word in the past few days. Ava would sleep most of the time, have small portions of soup or porridge twice a day, and just lay in her bed. Lilith would sit beside her and talk nonstop, sometimes Marcus also joined in; talking about his trainee days and telling her how Jacob made his life hell because he was such a strict leader. Evan did show up in her room twice but both times he would just stand in the corner while Lilith and Marcus talked, and he would quietly leave with them. Thankfully her father hadn't told Annie anything, and she was oblivious to everything. She'd visit them in summer and there were still a
A cry of pain tore through her lips. Ava glanced at the girl who helped her kill the guy hoping she could do it, but she was sprawled out cold on the floor. The fire was reaching close to her. The people trapped in those cages were screaming, banging on the electric wall, and getting electrocuted. Ava was crying full-blown now as she forced her body to move. She had to save them. She had to. Ava dragged her body up with the help of the wall, she put pressure on her wounded leg and the stitches tore her skin and opened making her scream in pain as she jumped forward slamming her palm on the button before falling. Water mist splashed water all over the place. Sirens of emergency and evacuation were ringing, and it felt like she was hearing them through the end of a tunnel. Cold water touched her skin. A shuddering breath left her lips as she closed her eyes hoping for all the pain to go away and softly whispered Aiden's name for the peace of her heart. Ava was in a beau
Bullets were raining behind him and he got hit in the back causing him to stumble forward crashing into her as she held him. "Aiden," She whispered shakily, feeling wetness on her hand. There was a wild commotion behind them. Animalistic growls and snarls but all she could hear was a numbing whistle ringing in her ears, seeing red coating her palm. "Take cover," He rasped in her ear before pulling back. Aiden roared like a wild beast, and she noticed his canines extending and claws expanding as he lunged at the scarred old man. Ava noticed Enzo and more Aiden's men infiltrating the place like charged canons. A guard tried to get to her, but someone blocked his way in a flash and knocked him down with a solid punch. It was Jacob. "Dad," She breathed shakily as Jacob hurried over to her. "F*ck, I'm late. Hide, Ava. Don't let them see you," Jacob said, forcing a pistol in her hand. "Use it to protect yourself. Kill if need be. Don't even hesitate when it comes to your safe
Ava banged on the door with all her might until her hands throbbed in pain. They had locked her in that room and then left. Cole was still unconscious while Ava had searched for every possible escape but there was none. She could hear two guards talking right outside the door. They were keeping an eye on them. It didn't matter how much she screamed or yelled at them to let her out. They didn't pay any heed to her. Ava was scared and drowning in anxiety with each passing second. Her pendant didn't electrocute her which meant she was close. Aiden would find her and be there any second now. A groan from behind had her head snapping to Cole. "F*ck," He cussed while trying to move but couldn't because of the wounds and pain. "Stay still. We are locked here. Your injuries are serious, you shouldn't move much," she said in a hoarse voice. Upon seeing her relief washed over him, his eyes fleeted to the gauze on her thigh and the number of bandages and patches that covered her face
"Are you done for the day?" Cole asked when he ordered his usual honey donut and Vanessa grumpily prepared it for him. They both hate each other's guts she could swear on it. They both left no chance to get on each other's nerves. It was fun to watch them, but Ava didn't want her friend to be dragged into this werewolf's world. "Yeah, I'll be out in a minute," Ava said hurrying to the staff room as she changed into her clothes and stepped out. Cole was waiting by the door watching Vanessa who was putting the chairs away. It was her turn to close tonight. Ava said her goodbyes to Vanessa while Vanessa yelled after her, reminding her of the brunch tomorrow with Alice and Audrey. The girls’ day out. Ava yelled over her shoulder that she remembered as she walked down the street with Cole to their car. Cole handed the donut to the homeless man and Ava watched him. "Why do you buy it, when every time you don't even eat it?" Often when there was no homeless person around, he wo
