Chapter 98

Kate’s POV

Dinner was awkward for me. The rest seemed to have had a relaxing time. Whenever Mark and I

sat at the same table to eat it only meant trouble. We never got along, there was always

something to argue about which isn’t my fault and obviously his.

“You don’t look too good,” Lois noted as I saw them off to the car.

I rubbed at the back of my neck. “Something just doesn’t feel right. I have a feeling I might walk

right into a death trap when you two are gone.”

“If that is the case, you should come with us. I have no idea why Brianna thought it right to ask

him to dinner. Her wolf is so oblivious.” He sounded pissed.

Patting his arm reassuringly, I grinned. “Don’t worry, it can’t be that bad. If I don’t text you

tomorrow, you should come check then.”

He pulled at my nose, chuckling. “You play too much.”

“Goodnight!” I waved.

With their car fading into the night, a dreadful cold eased into my pores. I don’t think I want to

know whatever is going on in Mark’s mind. I
