Mark’s POV
“Have you gone nuts?” Carl blurted, spitting out his beer.
I readjusted myself on the chair, crossing my legs as I put the beer down. I should have kept my big mouth shut. But I just couldn’t resist the urge to talk to someone about my predicament with Davina. I am still very doubtful about my decision to let her live in my house.
“Can you stop being so aggressive with your words?” I cautioned with a hiss.
He flared his nose at me with a displeased
Kate’s POV“How soon will you be done with that?” Lois asked as I struggled to put my hair together. We had stepped out to eat lunch together and rain poured down on us as soon as we got out of the car. It had my hair which I had curled up carefully this morning and tied up all wet and unpleasant. Had to step to the side to get it together. I hate wardrobe malfunctions like this. Thehh you ruin the whole of my mood every time. He sensed my frustration and stepped forward. “Why don’t we head back to the car and you get to do the hair properly?” “Then our coming here will go to waste? No! I will be done soon.” I insisted. Lois groaned. “How about the restaurant’s restroom then?” He suggested. That didn’t dawn on me on time and it made me feel slightly embarrassed. Smiling sheepishly, I mumbled an apology to him and hurried off. “I will be at our table when you are done.” He called out to me. The restroom was indeed a better idea. Getting to see what I had to do clearly in the mirr

Mark’s POVThe writings on the screen were beginning to look like an odd language. I have been at it for a long time, but I am trying to clear out my working cart just so I won’t end up having too many things to do when I return from my trip. The plan is to leave work aside and have fun with my family. It's been a long time apart and I am really looking forward to it.Carl came downstairs panting heavily. “So I was thinking we use a week at the Redmoon pack before returning home.”I raised my head slowly to give him a disinterested glance. “And why are you telling me?”He made a face, “it’s for you to get in line.”“Man, you are an adult. There is no need to seek any permission from me. If you want to stay back for that long, it is your choice. I will return because I need to be back here. Is that clear?”“Don’t be such an ass,” Carl whined.“Stay away from me, Carl.”“Why are you not staying back? It’s not like you can’t have people handle the company until your return.”“Why must I
Kate’s POV“Can you just keep steady?” My wolf stated. I giggled to myself as the car turned on the street we were headed. I can just envision how much impact the surprise will have on Karen and it makes me hyped just thinking of it. Karen poked my side with her nails. She didn’t look very relaxed. Has had that exhausted face from the graduation ground. “Why are you so happy?” Lois glanced at me from the mirror with his hands gripping the wheel. “I bet she ate too much sugar. What is going on with you?” I snorted at him with an eye roll. “Can’t I be excited for no reason?” “No one is found like that.” Bianca chipped in. “That’s enough with you all. If you don’t think you can be happy by yourself, then keep your thoughts to yourself. I am going to bask in my fantasy for a little while.” I barked at them. Karen sniffed, adjusting herself on the car seat. “Guys, aren’t we there yet? Where is this restaurant we are driving to that doesn’t have an end? I already told you I was okay
Kate’s POVI had to get a cab to get home and all of my hopes were on Mark being okay. He would have definitely made it to the store if something wasn’t wrong. Hastening my steps as I headed inside I was shocked when I entered the living room and it was dark. Had to check outside to be sure I didn’t walk right into a dark hole. I entered again and struggled to get my phone from my bag to dial Mark. All of a sudden the light came on, giving me a full view of the house. Rose petals littered the floor beautifully and there was a mat on the rug that had fluffy pillows on the ground all covered in petals. There was a bucket of wine sitting pretty near the mat with two glasses and next to it was a t
Mark’s POVA light yawn escaped my lips as I stared at the incoming call on my phone from an art client. I whispered in Kate’s ear that I was coming. Excusing myself from the excited group talking over one another, I stepped out to the back of the house to take the call. “Hello, sir. How are you doing?” I greeted the client. Omega Ben is my most returning client who just seems to enjoy everything that comes from me. He engages me in commissions like never before. I can’t complain because I enjoy every project he hands over to me. Hearing his excited voice bubble through the
Kate’s POVMy eyes darted to my ringing phone while I kept the glass of juice close to my lips. “Aren’t you going to answer that?” My wolf queried. I snickered, putting the glass down. The caller is Charles and he has been at it all day long, stressing the hell out of me. I glanced briefly at Mark in the living room yapping about something I was not quite interested in with Lois and Carl. I am enjoying this peaceful moment that I get to spend with Mark. Would hate for it to be ruined because of a misunderstanding. At the same time, I have nothing against Charles. Not answering his call will only lead to a lot of questions. It won’t be a surprise if he shows up here to ask why I haven’t been answering his calls. He is like that. “That phone will blow up if you don’t respond to it,” Marilyn noted in a low tone. Karen giggled next to me. “It’s her other lover. She doesn’t want to upset the main guy around.” I cut her a side glare. “Shut up, Karen.” Her mother cackled. “Is that so,
Kate’s POVMy wolf almost passed out during the last leg of my run. It took my breath away. Woke up feeling quite uneasy and I thought the best way to make me more active for the day was to run. However, it turned out to be the opposite for me. My body aches so bad. It’s different thoughts coming together, I can’t seem to just deal with one. Charles appears to have gone deaf when it comes to listening. Despite how I told him off the last time we spoke. He still hasn’t given up. Now this is stressing me the hell out, I had to keep my phone away to avoid unnecessary questions from flying. Mark will be leaving tomorrow. I miss him already. And I am more frustrated that I still don’t h
Mark’s POV“Do not mind that bastard! He is obviously trying to get into your head.” My wolf urged as my eyes remained glued on the envelope Dame dropped. “The things in it are probably photoshopped.” Inhaling deeply, I sucked my teeth, relaxing back in my chair. That bastard sure has a lot of nerve walking in here. Did he think I would believe him? I was so stunned by his attitude that I couldn’t really piece my words together. Fucking asshole! My focus has already been messed with and it seemed proper to just head home. Standing up, I reached for the envelope. Promising myself to not check through. I should put a call through to Kate. Considering how that moron showed up, h
Dame’s POV“This looks quite fancy.” My wolf drawled in a mocking tone. A satisfied smirk appeared on my face as I got out of the car feeling good. I have never been in the Diamond pack before. This happens to be a first and it is the most joyous moment for me too. Caressing my jacket, I walked towards the building. Not sure which floor I am headed to just yet, but I am certain all I need to say is the name. Saw a pretty lady and asked her where Mark Mccatty’s office might be. She directed me and I went straight to business, ignoring the urge to ask for her contact. Got on the el
Kate’s POVI have always prided myself in being courteous, but today I am throwing all of the damned rules in the wind. I didn’t care that Charles' secretary might end up losing her job as I barged into his office rudely. He had some people with him who had to leave on my insistence. “What’s going on, Kate?” He asked like he wasn’t the one who orchestrated the problem at hand. I fished out my phone with fidgety hands. Didn’t let that deter me as I tapped on the blog link Bianca shared with me and put it in his face. He stared at me like I had just blasphemed.
Kate’s POV“What in the world is this?” Karen blurted. My eyes almost popped out of their sockets as I tried hard to process the view in front of me. How did this get out? Who would make such spiteful remarks about me? What I can’t process is how the picture got to the media in the first place. As if it wasn’t fair enough that they claimed Charles Sanders and I are dating. Some headlines said the project we are working on must have been gotten because I was sleeping with Charles. Pictures of us kissing filled the entire tabloids. This wouldn’t have been worrisome if I was just by myself and didn’t just confess to Mark not too long ago how much he means to me. I hate being in the face of everyone. It doesn’t seem right that I have to constantly get judged by people who know nothing about me. I gasped as the reality hit me. Did Charles know I was going to turn him down, so he kept this image to spite me?“He wouldn’t dare to do that.” My wolf interjected. “What if he did?” I mouthed
Kate’s POV“How long do I have to wait for this dress to be ready?” I asked Karen whose head was buried in a pile of fabric. She raised her head to glare at me. “You make it seem like I just need to go into the kitchen and make the goddamn meal it's not food, Kate. It’s a dress not noodles, big head.” She hissed, punching at the pile and screaming into it. “I can’t do this anymore, Kate. I am going to lose my mind.” I chuckled at her silliness, chewing on the chips in my hand, “What have you so tired? I thought Bianca was helping out?”
Mark’s POV“You are such a lover boy.” My wolf teased me. I smiled shyly at the image on my screen, scrolling through the many goofy pictures Kate decided to take on my phone. She is such a silly goose. Always leaves me with something to remind me I am loved by her. It’s been rough in the last two weeks with Davina’s issues and all. However, after spending just a day with Kate, every worry that I felt faded away. There is no doubt that she is my peace now and forever. If I hadn’t so choked on my deadline, I would have stayed back at that hotel with her and spent an en
Kate’s POV“Hey, mama.” Mark cooed at me as he got out of the car. I jumped into his arms, squealing like a child. “Baby, it’s so good to see you.” He wrapped his arms around my waist kissing me passionately. “I am so happy to see you too. Don’t need to ask if you miss me. It’s obvious you do.” I hit his chest playfully. “Don’t get so cocky.”
Kate’s POV“Do you have a death wish? What is it with you consistently catching me off guard?” I roared, breathing heavily. My claws were out ready to tear at him for taking advantage of me the second time. I hate how he is using my feelings against him. Even if I did turn to mush in Charles's arms the last time. What fucking right does he have to lock lips with me again without my consent? He tastes like whiskey. Obviously been drinking before he drove all the way down here. Charles placed a hand on his hurting cheek and stuttered. “I. I am sorry. I didn’t mean to get at you like that. I was just eager to show my affection.” He mused. “Affection? What affection doesn’t require consent? Did you ask me before deciding on something like that? I let the first one slide. But this is definitely assault. Why are you even here at this time of the day?” I questioned. “I have been trying to reach you and you haven’t been responding.” “Doesn’t that mean I do not want to speak to you? What
Author’s POVThe line got disconnected again for the umpteenth time. Charles was beginning to lose his patience and he could feel frustration seeping in. The kiss they had that day made him very certain that Kate was eventually going to fall right into his arms. It’s not as if she is married. They even met up about two times to eat out. But to his surprise, she has been avoiding both his calls and texts for a while now. The one that made it most evident was at the business conference where she practically took off with her friend.“You should let it go now. She probably doesn’t want you.” His wolf said.“But I want her,” Charles replied. He could never really get pissed at Kate. She intrigues him. Makes him want to consistently be a better version of himself. That is a rare find amongst the many she-wolves he has met in his life. No one comes close to Kate. Also, he really needs her for the sake of his company’s image. Someone of Keate’s status who doesn’t have any dent in her persona
