Kate’s POV
Lois' words on the other end of the phone aren’t exactly sitting well with me.
“Get the meeting started already, Lois. Where the hell is Dame when he should be working? He is so damn useless I should have him demoted already.” I gritted putting a hand on my belly.
I had the intention of going to work but was held back by a terrible cramp. My insides felt like they would rip apart. To make matters worse the help had a day off today of all days. I had no one to call to help me get the needed medication. I eventually got a pharmacy to deliver the drugs. Stepped out to wai
Jean’s POVA slight yawn escaped my lips. The doctor was right about taking adequate rest, I feel better. I had just woken up for a long nap and came downstairs to head to the garden when I noticed the maids moving past the hallway in haste with filled-up trays in hand. “What is going on?” I asked one of them. She bowed slightly. “The Alpha called to set up dinner, he is expecting an important guest.” A guest? That is strange. Dame has never hosted any dinner with h
Kate’s POV“You have had quite an eventful day,” Lois said almost choking on his laughter. I snorted, biting into the apple I held. He is having a lot of fun laughing at my misery. It’s quite funny that I really had to deal with two egoistic wolves in one day. Dame went as far as asking if I could go with him to a hotel instead to spend the night. I was on the verge of knocking him down. But I maintained a calm face while insisting that he dropped me off at Lois’s. “It just seemed like today was the day I was fated to be frustrated.” I groaned.
Mark’s POV“You are not helping, Carl. I need a way out here.” I mumbled into the receiver, rubbing at my strained neck. He chuckled. “I never knew you had this side to you. Kate must have really touched the deepest part of your soul.” “This is your last chance. I will end the call if you refuse to be of actual help.” “Get her some chocolate and flowers.”
Kate’s POVA light chuckle escaped my lips as I typed quickly on my phone screen in a bid to respond to Miguel while heading toward my car. I have been at the office all day and got off late. My heels clicked noisily on the asphalt. He didn’t let me get all of my responses in before calling. I smacked my lips, shaking my head.“I was just about to give you a piece of my mind. Why did you have to call?” I questioned, grinning. He made a snorty laugh. “I couldn’t
Mark’s POV“Are you taking that to Kate again?” Rayna queried while pointing at the ice pack in my hand.“Yes. As you know there is no one else to look after her.” I stated the obvious. She snickered. “Of course there is, you are just blind to it. I am the female here and should attend to her.”“She is more familiar with me.”“Which doesn’t matter. It is the middle of the night and you are heading to a she-wolf’s room. What does that say to you?”I can tell where this conversation is headed. But I am not going to give her that satisfaction. “She is my family.”“No, she isn’t. She is your late father’s wife. Which means she doesn’t exactly belong to the family any longer. I bet there is something else you are hiding.” She growled, letting her wolf to the surface.I squinted my eyes at her. “Like what?”“Why don’t you tell me? I feel like I am a second thought in my boyfriend’s mind whenever it comes to Kate. Your eyes are always following her like a dummy.”“What nonsense are you spit
Kate’s POVMark didn’t bother hiding how irritated and pissed he is at Miguel’s presence. I was taken aback when I saw Miguel’s missed calls so early in the morning. Only to call and realize he had spent the night in his car because Mark refused him entry. I know they have their differences just didn’t realize it was this deep. The pain relief I took had worked so well, that my body felt fit as soon as I woke up. Aside from the dull aches, I feel fine. “Hey, baby.” Rayna cooed running up to Mark. Sometimes I can’t help but think that she seeks out every me
Kate’s POVMy wolf was practically chuffing through the entire ordeal of me positioning myself into the shortlist to appear sick. Lois wasn’t having it. Knowing how dangerous Dame can be, I don’t want to make it easy for him to get a hold of me. At least until I have been able to deal with him halfway. “I still don’t get it, Kate. Will his presence ease the attack from yesterday? Also don’t forget that he might be your assailant. What if he comes in here to finish you off totally?” “I have you here with me, don’t I?” I retorted, rubbing the ach
Mark’s POV“Do you always eat like that?” I snarled at Miguel. He raised his head slightly from the plate of pasta and made a mocking face. “Yes. If it bothers you, you should leave the table.” “This is my house.” “My godfather paid for it.” “Miguel!” I growled.
Mark’s POV“So what are you saying, Kate?” I asked, tapping my phone on the table slowly. “Does this mean I was right all along?” She ruffled her hair about three times in a second. I can sense her frustration, but I need and deserve an explanation too. “Mark, please. Just hear me out. As I mentioned before, he is a business associate. We joined hands on the current project the company is working on. We went on friendly outings and he expressed himself to me which I turned down. But he is quite persistent and insists on doing what it takes to make me his.” &ldqu
Kate’s POVAlcohol they say is bad for the body, to me, it is going to be the death of me. I struggled with my wolf to get the run in. But I couldn’t I had too much to drink. We had visited Lois cafe to try out the new beer he was adding to his menu. It turned out to be of great taste since it was free, Karen and I like greedy dwarfs almost choked on it. Was it fun? Yes. Would I go again if there is a chance? Yes. Life is fun when you keep pushing yourself to your death. But my wolf didn’t seem to agree with that as I opened up my mouth and poured out the remaining content in my belly into the dry leaves. I cursed at the awful taste at the back of my tongue. Feeling lightheaded I quickly heade
Kate’s POV“Kate!” Karen screamed from her room while I was still struggling to be awake and ready for work. I yawned loudly, ruffling my hair. “What is it, Karen? Why are you so hyped?” I questioned, sniffing. She put her phone to my face. “Check this out!” It felt like fog on my face, I had to push the phone backward, scratch my eyes, and eventually make my eyes bigger before I got a clear view of it. A loud gasp escaped my mouth causing Karen to stagg
Mark’s POV“Hey Mark!” Davina cooed from the other end into the receiver. I jumped past a fallen tree panting heavily. “Hi, Davina. How are you today?” “I am fine. Oh, are you running right now?” She asked the obvious. Isn’t my panting enough to tell that is the case?“Yes, wanted to get my steps in for the night.”“That is nice. I wanted to thank you again for the other day.” “You don’t have to keep doing that Davina. We are friends after all. How is the house hunting?” My question seemed to excite her as the words took another turn. “I found an amazing house penthouse today. It’s incredible. The view is lovely.” “A penthouse? Isn’t that on the high side?” I asked halting in my steps. “Not really. This one is actually really cheap goes for about ten thousand a month so I paid for two years.” “Hmmn, that’s nice..” She raised her tone up a notch again. “It really is. Imagine the number of pictures I would get to take to style my clients.” “But two years locked down rent payme
Kate’s POV“I am so exhausted!” Bianca whined throwing herself onto the couch. I chuckled, chewing on popcorn “Sorry, Karen has almost worked you thin.” She raised herself to look at me. “I have no idea how she does it always so determined to expend herself on a job. I wish I had half of her strength.” I smiled glancing at Karen who seemed to be so engrossed with the dress she was working on. I have seen just how much work she puts in and one can tell it
Mark’s POV“Are you sure that isn’t too much money?” My wolf asked as I wrote the check. I stared at the amount again and pouted. “No, I think it is just enough. I can afford it. So it is only right that I give it as much as I can. This will help her get started as she wants. She will never have to think about how to survive anymore instead it will be more about the many things she can now indulge in to make things better for herself.” He went quiet and that made me unsettled a little bit. It is just half a million dollars. It wouldn’t even feel like I took such an amount from my account. This shouldn’t be considered too much from someone like me. I just hope she won’t think it is too small. “Yo, my man!” Carl busted into the study like the noisemaker that he is. I rubbed my forehead, regretting the decision to go out with him. I should have requested that we head out in separate cars. Miguel is hosting a ball, which is a usual event at the packhouse every year. I never used to at
Kate’s POV“Do you think Charles might be in love with you?” My wolf asked.I stirred my coffee, looking out the window with swollen eyes I shrugged because I was really not aware of anything much going on with him. If he is in love with me that means trouble, what am I supposed to do with the affection? I already have enough from Mark. This wasn’t what I intended. Having Charles's father come beg me for his son seems ridiculous to me. They should have just left me to myself and accepted that things weren’t going to ever work out between us.I sighed heavily staring down at the now cold coffee. Is this what Karen and Lois meant when they said I would be stuck in a pool? Because it does feel like a pool. I couldn’t sleep a wink last night after Donald came to visit me at the office. It was more draining that I couldn’t talk about it to Karen just yet. She being the crazy girl would laugh at me and leave my soul hanging. I do not know how long it would take for things to die down.Right
Kate’s POVThe documents in front of me were beginning to look like they were written in foreign words. My eyes ached badly from lack of sleep. I have been working a bit hard to ensure the project that we are on does not flop. It is the first project being done in Dame’a’s absence. Speaking of Dame, his Alpha’s ball is apparently the talk of the town. Everyone anticipates it like it is some expected festival that they have been waiting for years.I do remember that the ball was one that I had looked out to attending so many years ago. When I missed the chance of getting to serve the guest. I had cried for two days straight and I remember Lois being there all through consoling me with chocolates and candies like it was the only way out that he was aware of. A small smile broke on my face at the memory. Those were the good old days. Whenever I look back at the growth myself and Lois have had. I do nothing else but be thankful to the goddess that I still have my very good friend with me.
Mark’s POVI stared in awe as Davina moved with gait around the showroom putting the attires together and taking pictures of them. When we got talking she let me know she was a fashion stylist. She works for a couple of celebrities. Creating outfits for fashion shows and photoshoots. I have seen the way she puts things together and it is super impressive. I have always known her to be resourceful which makes it a proud moment to see how much she is doing. It’s been a month since we reconnected at the club and got talking. But we haven’t met physically due to busy schedules. I don’t know what it is, but it almost feels as if old flames are rekindling. It's a dangerous thing to tend towards and I know it wouldn’t last. At the same time, after a long time, I find myself wanting to engage in some flirty engagements just for the fun of it.“Won’t you be going too far engaging her?” My wolf asked.“It is just talking. Don’t get ahead of yourself.” I replied, snorting. Kate is the only one I
