Kate’s POV
A light chuckle escaped my lips as I typed quickly on my phone screen in a bid to respond to Miguel while heading toward my car. I have been at the office all day and got off late. My heels clicked noisily on the asphalt.
He didn’t let me get all of my responses in before calling. I smacked my lips, shaking my head.
“I was just about to give you a piece of my mind. Why did you have to call?” I questioned, grinning.
He made a snorty laugh. “I couldn’t
Mark’s POV“Are you taking that to Kate again?” Rayna queried while pointing at the ice pack in my hand.“Yes. As you know there is no one else to look after her.” I stated the obvious. She snickered. “Of course there is, you are just blind to it. I am the female here and should attend to her.”“She is more familiar with me.”“Which doesn’t matter. It is the middle of the night and you are heading to a she-wolf’s room. What does that say to you?”I can tell where this conversation is headed. But I am not going to give her that satisfaction. “She is my family.”“No, she isn’t. She is your late father’s wife. Which means she doesn’t exactly belong to the family any longer. I bet there is something else you are hiding.” She growled, letting her wolf to the surface.I squinted my eyes at her. “Like what?”“Why don’t you tell me? I feel like I am a second thought in my boyfriend’s mind whenever it comes to Kate. Your eyes are always following her like a dummy.”“What nonsense are you spit
Kate’s POVMark didn’t bother hiding how irritated and pissed he is at Miguel’s presence. I was taken aback when I saw Miguel’s missed calls so early in the morning. Only to call and realize he had spent the night in his car because Mark refused him entry. I know they have their differences just didn’t realize it was this deep. The pain relief I took had worked so well, that my body felt fit as soon as I woke up. Aside from the dull aches, I feel fine. “Hey, baby.” Rayna cooed running up to Mark. Sometimes I can’t help but think that she seeks out every me
Kate’s POVMy wolf was practically chuffing through the entire ordeal of me positioning myself into the shortlist to appear sick. Lois wasn’t having it. Knowing how dangerous Dame can be, I don’t want to make it easy for him to get a hold of me. At least until I have been able to deal with him halfway. “I still don’t get it, Kate. Will his presence ease the attack from yesterday? Also don’t forget that he might be your assailant. What if he comes in here to finish you off totally?” “I have you here with me, don’t I?” I retorted, rubbing the ach
Mark’s POV“Do you always eat like that?” I snarled at Miguel. He raised his head slightly from the plate of pasta and made a mocking face. “Yes. If it bothers you, you should leave the table.” “This is my house.” “My godfather paid for it.” “Miguel!” I growled.
Dame’s POVMy wolf scratched the earth's surface intensely as I kept running. It is so weird that anyone would pull up an attack on Kate. I couldn’t sleep a wink all through the night and had to put a call through to one of my trusted guards to carry out an investigation. From the company’s car park CCTV footage, the culprit was seen entering and making the attack. Only one camera was able to record the scene. He must have missed the positioning of that camera. After touring the woods long enough, I returned to the packhouse. After getting dressed for work, I stepped out of my room into the hallway bumping into Jean.
Jean’s POVRubbing at my belly anxiously, I paced the living room back and forth. Mum wasn’t having it. “Can you just sit your butt somewhere? What pregnant lady has the strength to keep moving around without caution?” She questioned. “I am not exactly moving around without caution. It is a slow walk.” I gritted. “And I wouldn’t be in this situation if your supposed boy had given an apt report of the job given to him. Dame keeps giving me suspicious glances, neither has the news of Kate’s downfall reached me. Tell me exactly how I am supposed to be c
Dame’s POV“I am so sorry, Kate,” I muttered helplessly. She eventually made it to work and explained to me how Jean came to her to boast of her involvement in the attack that took place. I should have known that witch Jean had something to do with Kate getting hurt. She is no doubt the most likely person to wish for her disappearance. I rubbed slowly at my forehead feeling an intense urge to snuff life out of her wherever she was. No wonder I tried hard to trace the culprit that attacked her and got nothing. Whoever he is, they made sure he would never be an easy person to find. Kate shrugged and held my gaze with so many emotions emitting in her eyes. “I knew there wouldn’t be rosy moments for me coming back here to be with you. All the same, I didn’t expect myself to be in such danger so soon. I think you should go back to Jean. It is wrong for me to want her place at first. Anyone would have reacted the way she did if they were in her shoes. I probably would have.” “Hell no. T
Dame’s POVIt took a while for my eyes to adjust to the chaos. For a moment I thought my house was on fire. The very house that I had sorted the design myself after tearing it down from the old design to create a masterpiece. My legs wobbled as I breathed hard in a hide to get a hold of myself. Behind the raving fire was Jean tossing things into it to make it blow more. My mouth was agape in utmost shock when I looked down at one of the things she threw and it happened to be one of my expensive wristwatches. Wait a minute, this bitch is actually burning my stuff. My concern was replaced with anger. I stomped my feet towards her angrily. Without thinking I slapped her hard across the face. Everyone around gasped loudly. Jean put a hand to her face and before I could strike another blow she ran off. “Have you all gone mad? Get some water and quench the fire, you stupid peasants. How dare you all just stand by and watch her make a mess of my things? You had better have that dead in a
