Kayla, a shy and introverted music major, is starting her first year of college with a mix of excitement and fear. With a scholarship in hand, she is finally able to pursue her passion, but she finds herself completely alone. Having bounced from foster home to foster home, Kayla never really belonged anywhere. Her unique colored eyes made her the target of teasing, and years of trauma have left her struggling with anxiety and PTSD. Her past has kept her from forming meaningful connections, and the idea of love and support feels like an impossible dream. Meanwhile, three powerful mafia kings—known as 'The Kings'—are on a mission. These blood brothers, triplets bound by a pact made in their youth, have searched tirelessly for their one true queen. Known for their brutal and ruthless reputations, the trio is feared across the world. Despite their many enemies, they have always had each other's backs, and they share everything—everything except the woman they were destined to love. After years of failure in their quest, they decide to take on roles as professors, hoping to finally find the one they've been searching for. When they meet Kayla, broken and vulnerable, will they be able to heal her heart and help her find the strength to open up? Or has her past scarred her beyond repair? What they don't know is that Kayla's story is more tangled than they ever imagined, and the truth about her origins may be more dangerous than they could ever have predicted.
View MoreKayla looked at the ancient looking building in front of her as her nerves got the best of her. Her heart was beating wilding like it was going to jump out of her chest.
People were glancing at her left and right, and she knew why, her eyes. She has heterochromia, but her eyes were not the usual heterochromia mix, like blue and green or brown and a more natural colour. One of her eyes was silver, almost light in colour that her eyeball looked completely white. Her other eye was a light violet in colour. The colours of her eyes contrast against her brown skin, making them stand out the more. She always make use of glasses to tone down the colour but it is still noticeable. She brushed her hair to cover her face, her hair was a natural virgin hair that sat full and large on her head making her look smaller. Kayla always love music and learnt to play a lot of instruments by herself in a music store close to the orphanage where she grew up. That is why she always wanted to study music, and she got to study a double major, music and creative writing. Kayla was so happy to be out of the orphanage, she was always bullied for her look and sometimes could hardly eat until when she clocked twelve and began to work in that music store, even though she was too young to work, the old man pitied her because he knew how life at her orphanage was and paid her enough to eat. The only people that did not maltreat her at the orphanage was one of the matron, Miss Glinda and a boy who was about five years older than her. Unfortunately, Miss Glinda passed away, leaving her with Toby. That is where her anxiety and trauma comes in, Toby was more like a wolf in sheep clothing. He was a brutal one to Kayla and he always bullied and abused her mentally, physically and sexually. He left about two years ago and never came back. The scholarship is a life saver, Kayla was happy to get it and leave the orphanage, even if Toby ever comes back, she will no longer be there again. She will not be his victim anymore, he can't find her because she is far away from the orphanage and she did not tell anyone about her ventures. She squeezed her eyes shut to stop the flashbacks and thoughts running wild in her mind. She opened her eyes after calming down. Taking a deep breath, Kayla forced her feet forward and stepped into the building. The interior was bustling with students, their chatter and laughter filling the air. Yet, as she moved, their eyes seemed to follow her, drawn to her striking presence. Kayla kept her head down, clutching the strap of her worn out bag as she navigated the labyrinth of hallways. Anxiety churned in her stomach, but she fought it down, focusing on one thing: finding her lecture room. Kayla wished the attention would no longer be on her as she tried to find her way around. As if the heavens heard her prayers, the crowds in the hallway began to cheer as they all gathered at the entrance of the hallway. She wondered what was happening but happy that the attention was no longer on her, trying to make use of the now empty hallway, she walked faster admist the crowd trying to find her class. But it was futile, some ladies were still trying to run forward and Kayla got caught in the crowd getting pushed to the front. She was barely able to find her balance but when she did, she looked up to see some men walking down the corridor. They looked so alike, triplets, Kayla concluded. As she stared at them, she wondered what was it about them that drew her in. The first man, leading the trio, exuded an aura of authority. He stood tall and broad-shouldered, his posture straight and confident. His deep-set emerald-green eyes were intense, almost piercing, as if they could see through the very core of a person. His sharp jawline was clean-shaven, accentuating his strong facial features. His jet-black hair was styled neatly, combed back with precision, giving him a polished and professional appearance. He wore a tailored black suit that fit him perfectly, paired with a crisp white shirt and a dark tie. The shine of his leather shoes and the glint of a silver watch on his wrist added a touch of sophistication. The second man, to the left, had a more relaxed, playful yet equally captivating presence. His wavy black hair was slightly longer, brushing just above his collar, with a few rebellious strands falling over his forehead. His eyes were a striking icy blue, contrasting sharply with his warm, tan complexion. A light shadow of stubble lined his jaw, giving him a rugged charm. He wore a dark gray blazer over a black turtleneck, paired with slim-fit pants and sleek boots. His hands were casually tucked into his pockets, and his easygoing smile hinted at his playful, charismatic personality. The third man, positioned to the right, was the most enigmatic of the trio. His hair was longer, packed into a man bun that looked so amazing on him, adding to his aura, he looked like the least approachable one out of all the three. His golden-brown eyes gleamed with a quiet intensity, framed by thick lashes. His expression was calm and unreadable, almost as if he was lost in thought. Unlike the others, he wore a completely black suit, no hint of any colour, his look effortlessly edgy. Only a silver pendant that was peeking through the lapel of the suit jacket contrasted the whole look. His own steps were heavy, not light and fluidly like that of his two brothers. The three of them all had their muscles bulging under the suit and never ending tattoos that peeked through the sleaves of their suit. Kayla looked at them as they walked down the hall ignoring the girls who were screaming and squealing like they are some sort of celebrities. Just then, the second man, who looked a little playful turned his head and their eyes met. Almost like he felt her staring at them, his green eyes met her mismatched ones and he felt his breath hitch. Her eyes were so unusual but very beautiful. The innocence and sadness swirling in those eyes captivated him and he was sure it would be the same for his brothers. Her curly hair stood tall on her head almost hiding her face, he maintained eye contact with her until she broke it first and disappeared through the crowd, definitely to her first class. Another loud squeal reminded him of the other girls trying to get the attention of his brothers and him, he couldn't help but roll his eyes and they walked down the hall. They made their way to the Dean's office and walked in like they owned the place, well technically they did. The dean was nervous in front of the three men, even though they were there as professors, he knew their real identity and dare not offend them. "Here are the papers you asked for, list of classes and also the keys to your office." The dean gave the envelope to the person in the middle. Despite being Mafia king's, the brothers each had their dreams and ambitions and worked towards them and achieved them all. The green eyed man could not forget the girl he saw in the hallway, how she looked so small and delicate, he wanted to protect her. The other two noticed that their brother was distracted and wondered why. When they got to their office, Alistair King turned to his younger brother. "Elliot, what's gotten into you? You've been unusually quiet since we were in the hallway." Elliot leaned against the edge of the desk, his fingers running absentmindedly along the edge of the papers. "I saw someone," he admitted, his green eyes distant, as if replaying a memory. The eldest of the trio, Victor, who had been arranging the files on his desk with meticulous precision, paused and looked up. His emerald-green eyes narrowed. "Someone? Who?" "A girl, I think I found the one for us." Elliot replied. The simple sentence made the other two men stop moving as they stared at him.Kayla tried her best to mask the change in her mood. She smiled when the men smiled, laughed when they joked, and nodded when they asked if she was all right. But the lively sparkle she had carried all day was now dim, and despite her efforts, it didn’t escape the sharp, observant eyes of the men around her. Victor, Alistair, and Elliot exchanged glances more than once. Leo, her brother, narrowed his eyes thoughtfully as he watched Kayla push her food around her plate, barely eating a bite. They didn’t press her there at the restaurant — not with so many eyes around — but a silent agreement passed between them. They would find out what was wrong. Later, once they were back in the privacy of the penthouse suite they shared, Kayla excused herself to sit by the window, hugging her knees to her chest as she stared out at the city lights. Victor was the first to move. He crouched down in front of her, his hand resting lightly on her knee. "Kayla," he said, his voice low and sof
After leaving the salon, Kayla bundled herself tighter in her jacket as they headed toward the massive shopping mall downtown. The building was sleek and modern, sparkling under the winter sun, and Kayla couldn't help but gape at its size. She had never been anywhere so luxurious before. As they entered, a hush seemed to fall over the crowd. Heads turned. Whispers followed them. It wasn’t just the sight of four handsome, sharply dressed men — it was who they were. The King brothers and Leo had a strong influence in the country, and it showed. Instantly, mall security appeared, escorting them past lines and offering them VIP treatment without hesitation. Private elevators. Complimentary drinks. Personal shopping assistants. Kayla blinked rapidly, feeling like she had stepped into some fairytale. "Relax," Victor said, nudging her gently with his elbow. "You’re with us now." Their first stop was a high-end boutique, where the walls glittered with designer clothes and the manneq
Kayla blinked awake, her eyelashes fluttering against the soft pillow. For a moment, she lay still, cocooned in the warmth of the blankets, her mind hazy with sleep. But then, like a flood breaking through a dam, the memories of last night surged back. She had a brother. Leo. The thought alone made her heart thrum faster, a mixture of disbelief and wonder coursing through her veins. She hugged the covers tighter around herself, a small, dazed smile pulling at her lips. She wasn't alone in the world after all. She had family—real family. Pushing herself out of bed, Kayla padded across the plush carpet to the adjoining bathroom. The air was cool, sending a shiver racing up her spine. She turned on the tap and splashed cold water onto her face, trying to shake off the lingering sleepiness. As she brushed her teeth, she caught her reflection in the mirror—wide mismatched eyes, slightly puffy from last night’s tears, but sparkling with something new. Hope. After a quick shower, she w
Leo had barely slept. He paced the length of his office, fingers drumming restlessly against his thigh. The DNA lab had promised results first thing in the morning, and now every tick of the clock felt like a year. He glanced at his phone for the hundredth time—still nothing. He was about to call again when the screen lit up. Subject: DNA Sibling Test Result Leo’s heart slammed against his ribs. Hands slightly trembling, he opened the file. Match Probability: 99.98% — Biological Siblings. He stood still. For a long moment, he couldn’t breathe. She was his sister. Kayla. The quiet girl with eyes that held too much pain for someone so young. The girl who flinched when touched too suddenly. The girl with fire in her smile when she let herself feel safe. His sister. Leo let out a shaky breath and sank into the chair behind him, pressing his hands to his face. “Thank you,” he whispered to no one, to everything. “Thank you.” Just then, his phone buzzed again. This ti
The rooftop restaurant was quiet except for the occasional clink of silverware and the murmur of the sea breeze rolling in from the Aegean. The sun hovered low on the horizon, casting a warm golden hue over the whitewashed buildings. Yet none of the three brothers—Victor, Alistair, and Elliot—were paying attention to the breathtaking view. They were waiting. And tension lingered in the air like a storm cloud. Victor sat stiffly at the table, his arms folded across his chest, gaze fixed on the elevator. Alistair tapped a slow rhythm on his glass while Elliot leaned back in his chair, eyes half-lidded but alert. At last, the elevator doors opened with a soft chime. Leonidas Moretti—Leo—stepped out in tailored slacks and a crisp black shirt, sleeves rolled up just enough to reveal inked forearms. His signature cross pendant swung lightly on his chest. He looked exactly as they remembered him: confident, collected, and just dangerous enough to keep you on edge. “Gentlemen,” Leo gree
Kayla stepped into the heart of the bustling marketplace. The cacophony of vendors hawking their wares, the heady aroma of spices, and the kaleidoscope of colors painted a scene that felt like stepping into a fairytale. Even though Victor, Elliot, and Alistair, couldn’t join her—their cryptic excuse about “business” hanging in the air like an unspoken secret—she refused to miss the chance to experience the city’s vibrant soul. Instead, she ventured out with Jayden, one of their trusted bodyguards. He was a quiet, almost spectral presence, a man who moved like a shadow, blending seamlessly into the background. She didn’t know, however, that the brothers, ever vigilant, had deployed a dozen more men, each a phantom in the crowd. They were disguised as locals, tourists, merchants, even a stoic priest, their eyes fixed on her every move. Not just to protect her, but to possessively guard their queen, their precious Kayla. Oblivious to the watchful eyes, Kayla moved freely, her spirit as
Warmth kissed Kayla's skin as soft sunlight filtered through gauzy curtains, streaking pale gold across her cheeks. A faint smile tugged at her lips before her eyes even opened. The bed was cozy, and the lingering scent of cologne teased her senses. She rolled over, hugging the pillow that still held warmth. Someone had left recently. She didn’t remember falling asleep between all three brothers, but she’d gotten used to waking up with one—or all—of them nearby. Today, only silence greeted her. Kayla stretched, the silk strap of her lilac nightgown slipping off her shoulder. “Mmm,” she hummed, smiling to herself. For once, she didn’t feel dread at waking up. No cold, anxious thoughts. Just comfort. She padded barefoot to the bathroom, brushing her teeth and humming a soft tune under her breath. Her fingers lazily combed through her curls as she studied her reflection. She looked… happy. Glowing, even. And she felt it too. Downstairs, the brothers sat around the long marble dining
Sunlight spilled softly into the room through the sheer curtains, casting golden stripes across the rumpled sheets. Kayla stirred beneath the warmth of the covers, her body aching in a way that was both tender and thrilling. Her eyes fluttered open slowly, adjusting to the light. A weight—no, weights—pressed against her from all angles. She blinked in confusion before turning her head to the left. Victor was nestled into the crook of her neck, his soft, steady breaths warming her skin. One of his arms was draped protectively over her waist, the other resting beneath her head like a pillow. A glance downward revealed Alistair lying diagonally across her torso, his head resting just below her chest. His dark hair spilled across her skin, and she could feel the subtle movement of his breath. It rose and fell rhythmically, as if he were utterly at peace. But that wasn’t all. Lower still, Elliot lay sprawled with his head on her stomach, his arm loosely wrapped around her thigh
The morning sun, a gentle caress on her skin, mingled with the heady aroma of Italian coffee and sweet pastries. After a delightful breakfast, Victor, Elliot, and Alistair, their eyes sparkling with mischief, ushered Kayla out of the villa. A sleek, obsidian-black car, a testament to understated luxury, waited in the grand circular driveway, its polished surface reflecting the vibrant hues of the surrounding gardens. "Where are we going?" Kayla asked, her voice a soft murmur against the backdrop of the morning's symphony. The air, crisp and alive, carried the promise of adventure, a delicate blend of blooming jasmine and the warm, yeasty scent of freshly baked pastries from a nearby café. Elliot, a mischievous glint in his azure eyes, slid into the plush leather seat beside her. "That would ruin the surprise, bellissima. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride." His tone, playful yet possessive, sent a flutter of anticipation through her. The car purred to life, gliding smoothl
