Maya's POV

Fuck my stupid luck! I just might die before 9 PM, after all.

Jonathan had the audacity to grin gesturing mockingly to my claws, “Are those what you plan to fight me with?"

He pulled out a dagger and I stepped back, bumping into the oven. I was caged in between the island and the oven.

My eyes darted frantically in search of an opening to run and when Jonathan noticed, he chuckled— a guttural sound that set my teeth on edge.

“You won’t be going anywhere, girly, I told you I would come for you and here you are waiting for me unprotected and so pitifully vulnerable. This is almost too easy.”

“I agree, it's too easy and where is the fun in that? So why don't you get the hell out of here, Jonathan.” I said, anger giving me courage. “I have no idea what problem you had with my dad but it has nothing to do with me!”
