“Goodnight,” Laura said after pecking James’s lips. “Goodnight,” he replied with a dimpled smile. Laura pursed her lips together when she saw how soft he looked before turning around and opening the door to her suite. James only left after making sure she was inside safely. Laura removed her shoes at the entrance and walked into the living room while holding them in her hands, only to be face to face with Rachel, who had been sketching on her drawing tablet. She was sitting cross-legged on the floor in her pyjamas with her blonde hair messily braided. “Hi,” Laura said awkwardly, and Rachel smiled at her, clearly amused. “Don’t look at me like that,” Laura said when she saw her friend’s strange smile and went to her room. “I didn’t even say anything,” Rachel said under her breath as she continued with what she was doing. She was only feeling a bit envious since she could freely be with James while she had to wait for her army boyfriend to come back from his mission. Laura went to
“I’m outside, hurry up or we’re going to be late,” Jason said to his brother, who he had just called.“Mmh,” James answered and hung up. He had been ready since half an hour ago and would have been prepared earlier if he was not expecting Jason to come late anyway.James picked up his blazer and checked for his phone and wallet before leaving his house. When he was outside, he saw a bright red sports car parked outside his gate. He could already feel a headache set in.He got into the car and closed the door before looking at Jason as if he was studying a specimen under a microscope.“What do you think of my new ride?” Jason asked as he shifted gears and drove off.“I hate it,” James said with a sneer. It was too flashy! Out of the three of them, the one who had an extensive car collection.“Don’t you have better things to do with your money?” James asked Jason and his younger brother laughed.“I have already done better things with my money. That’s why I’m enjoying myself now. I’m not
Wednesday rolled in quickly. Laura hadn’t gotten the chance to see James since he dropped her off at her hotel on Saturday. It looked like she was going to have even less of a chance now that she was going to be working.“Miss Laura, just come out the way you are. You don’t need to doll yourself up. We’ll remove the makeup anyway, we’re going to be late!” Paula said from the living room. It was already 6 am, they were supposed to have started their journey to the site of the photoshoot.“I’m coming!” Laura shouted from her room. She woke up late, hence throwing off all her plans. She stepped out of her room, clearly unhappy about not being able to get ready to her satisfaction.“You look stunning. Now let’s get moving,” Paula said to Laura and grabbed her hand to drag her away.“I’m going to complain! How can they arrange for a shoot to happen so far away?” Laura said in the elevator as she looked at her reflection in one of the mirrors in the elevator.“Because they are paying a lot
Laura sat in front of the vanity with a small frown on her face. He didn’t look like it, but Dylan was well versed in nagging. He was worried about her not working with a fashion brand throughout her career, even when she told him she was going to be fine. She had never received any complaints from photographers or the directors who shot commercials for Ralaje. In fact, a good number of them had asked her if she would consider going into acting, but she was unwilling to suffer, not that things were easier with modelling, but with the level she has reached, she knew sponsors will go out of their way to make her comfortable.“Don’t overthink it, that’s just how Dylan is, a perfectionist,” Paula said to Laura as she put some blush on her cheeks.“I don’t do well with nagging,” Laura said and sighed, trying to correct her mood. Earlier, it looked like things were going to get serious, but the situation became more controlled when Paula told Dylan to get out so that Laura could change.“He
Laura felt her hands itch because of how she couldn’t hug James. She hadn’t seen him over the past three days and they felt like three months. He had travelled out of town and probably just returned.“Have you had time to rest? You look tired,” Laura said as she touched the dark circles under his eyes.“I’m fine,” James said and took the hand that was touching his face in his.“I’m happy that you came,” Laura said with a bright smile and pulled on his sleeve using her other free hand. At this point, the people who had been around her were acting like they were deaf and blind.“Mmh, you’ll be starting soon, I won’t be a distraction,” James said as he looked around at the staff that was looking away from them.“If you are tired you can go rest in the trailer, I’m sure you haven’t had time to sleep,” Laura said as she squeezed both of his hands.“I know,” James said and kissed the back of her hands before releasing them and going back to the photographer’s workstation. He pulled a chair
“I’m going to move the headquarters here,” Rachel said to Laura one night when they were having dinner. They had been in City X for almost two months. Laura was already getting used to her busy work schedule. Her fan base had grown exponentially during this time because her images started floating around in high-end stores and shops. She was also getting screen time with ads she had started to film recently.“Are you sure?” Laura asked Rachel, who was drawing with a popsicle in her mouth.“Mmhmm,” Rachel responded before pulling it from her mouth.“Have you contacted the office?” Laura asked her, curious about what she was planning to do.“I have. I won’t be closing down the offices in Country M, but I’ve told them that whoever is interested in coming to this side is welcome," Rachel answered.“I bet a lot of people are interested,” Laura said and Rachel sighed.“They are, but we can’t leave the place empty. So we’ll be taking a few of them first so that the people remaining can hire
When Rachel finally walked out of her room in a pair of shorts and an oversized white t-shirt, she finally understood why she was so aggressively shoved back into her room. Brian was sitting alone in their living room with Rachel nowhere to be seen. She looked at the toned and heavily tattooed man and understood why he appealed to Rachel so much. As angelic as she looked, she was crazy for bad boys. Brian looked like a bad boy at first glance, probably the baddest of the bunch. “Good morning, Brian,” Laura said to him with a polite smile that squeezed out every ounce of energy from her. “Good morning,” Brian responded, and looked up at her. Laura looked away from him while nodding and made a beeline to go to the kitchen. Although not as beautiful as her James, she had to admit he was also a very good-looking man. When she walked into the kitchen, she found Rachel there with Jen, who seemed to be just as surprised as she had been when she noticed Brian in their living room. “When di
“I thought we agreed to move together yesterday,” Rachel said to Laura confusion clearly written on her face. “Mmh, but I’m afraid it could get inconvenient for you because of my job,” Laura said before taking a sip of her coffee. “But-” Rachel started to say but was promptly interrupted by Laura. “I also don’t want to third-wheel. I want to be able to finally be as undressed as I feel like at home,” Laura said and teasingly narrowed her eyes at Rachel. “I guess it’s time we should start living separately,” Rachel said in a soft voice. She was also realising that their lives were changing drastically and they needed to give each other some space. “Don’t worry, I won’t inconvenience you and your soldier for too long,” Laura said with a knowing smile that caused Rachel’s cheeks to flush. “Can you two just let me go?” Rachel complained as she put her face in her hands making all of them laugh. * “You look good,” Rachel said to Laura when she came out of her room ready for her date
