Prologue
Do you hear it? I hear it. The deafening ambulance’s sound that shatters my eardrums. I can hear voices from different people but I don't understand a word. Have you ever been under the water and you cannot hear everything vividly? That's exactly how it feels. It feels like I am under the water and my ears are filled with water that I don't understand what they were saying. The sky, I see the sky. It was bright—too bright that it blinds my eyes. I see unfamiliar faces staring at me, but I couldn't identify any of them. They were too blurred for me. My body. I couldn't feel a thing; I can't feel my own body like I was numb. What's happening? Where am I? “FREYA!” Perhaps, I went out under the water. That's the only thing I heard clearly. Slowly, my eyes landed on a very familiar woman crying over someone. Along with the loud sound of the ambulance, her shattering voice and cry invaded my ears as if she was mourning. I couldn't move, not even my fingers. The next thing I knew, I was being moved as if I was flying in the air. I looked beside me while the sky vanished from my sight. It became a ceiling filled with tons of unclear bright lights. All of a sudden, as I felt like dying, tears fell beside my eyes as I saw her covered with blood. “F-Freya,” I mumbled. It was the last thing I knew before everything suddenly shut down; everything just went black. “She killed Freya! I cannot forgive her for doing that to her sister,” “Freya is an innocent woman. Why does it have to be her?” “Excuse me? It was a car accident, Faith didn't kill Freya! She was also part of the accident! How can you blame Freya's death on her when they were together in the accident?” “Exactly! They were together and she probably didn't save her sister! She only thought of herself, letting her sister die from that damn accident, Lily!” “Lily, please don't meddle. This is our family's business.” “How could you think of Freya without thinking of your other daughter? Faith is also your daughter. She also fought for her life,” “And I wished she's just the one who died from the accident, not Freya!” “What?” What's going on? Am I dreaming? Why do I hear voices, fighting? I wanted to open my eyes, but I couldn't. They felt heavy as if something was preventing me from waking up. My body, I tried to move even just a little—but I failed. I don't feel anything as if I was a mere statue. “That's enough, hon.” It was Mom, wasn't she? I know her voice very well. With all my remaining strength, I gave another shot to finally see them with my own eyes. As I did, the blurry image of people inside the room invaded my eyes. I blinked a few times, trying to clear my sight. “I will not calm down! I lost our daugh—” “Faith!” Lily, my best friend, quickly rushed towards me as soon as she saw me finally awake. Where am I? Why is everything in this room painted with the color white? “Why did she even wake up?” My brows crossed. What's going on? I woke up from what? “Hey, can you hear me?” Lily asked. Finally, I felt something. I felt the warmth of her hand as it lingered on my hand. I glanced at my parents who were only standing there. My mother was glancing at me, wearing her blank eyes while my father couldn't even look at me as if I was a dangerous thing. In one snap, all my questions earlier were answered. Everything that happened began to flash in my head like the waves of the sea that smacked the shore. “Freya, you can't drive! Mom will get mad at me if she finds out that I let you drive,” I said to Freya while she was being stubborn again and forcing me to let her drive the car. “There will be no problem if they will not find out. Besides, I know how to drive. My friends taught me,” she winked at me and started the car's engine. “What? You drove secretly? That's dangerous!” I was being hysterical already. Freya has always been like this. She's often stubborn and playful. She loves adventure, doing everything that she thinks is fun to do. “Come on, I'm still alive! Just trust me, okay?” I heaved a heavy sigh when she already drove and I couldn't do anything anymore. “Be slow! You don't even have a license for god's sake.” I shut my eyes firmly. She's indeed a pain in the neck to me. “Calm down, Fai—” “Freya!” That moment, I wasn't able to close my eyes. The blinding yellow lights of the huge truck greeted me as everything seemed to get slow. Time suddenly froze for a few seconds. Until the next thing I knew, Freya was painted with blood beside me and we were both bleeding inside the car. “Do you remember everything, huh?” I became feeble, too weak to speak. I was lost for words while my hands began to tremble. Tears started to drip down on my face while I was having a short breath. “F-Freya…w-where is she?” I asked shiveringly to all of them. My parents didn't speak, they were only eyeing me with those cold eyes. “Faith,” Lily called beside me. “L-Lily, where is she? W-Where's my sister, huh? W-Where's Freya?” “You want to see where your sister is?” My father finally spoke. “Come on, I'll show you where Freya is.” “Uncle, please don't do this!” Lily exclaimed when my father suddenly grabbed me like a piece of paper on the hospital gown that I was wearing. I didn't know if I didn't resist or I was just too weak that he was able to drag me in one snap. “Faith!” Lily exclaimed and followed us. “Where are you taking her, Sir? You can't drag her like that,” the Nurse intervened and tried to stop my father. “Get out of my way!” He pushed the nurse away and didn't stop from dragging me like a piece of cloth. My eyes couldn't stop from pouring tears. Why does he look mad at me as if seeing me fills rage into his system? Morgue. I became feeble even more and shivered when I saw what's written in the room where Dad brought me. “Please, don't do this to her! Let her rest, for god's sak—” “You shut up, Lily! You don't get to defend her!” My mother exclaimed and shut Lily up who was crying a river while watching me. I was stunned. I froze and I couldn't move a little when I saw someone covered with a white sheet. “W-Why did you bring me here, Dad? Freya isn't here,” His eyes were filled with rage towards me. But why? Why me? He burst into tears as his finger pointed out the dead body lying down in the morgue. “Why don't you check that out, huh? Check it out and see what happened,” he said firmly. It couldn't be Freya, right? I shook my head. It can't be. I walked beside it, and with my trembling hands, I slowly pulled down the white sheet that was covering it entirely. I was filled with extreme fear as I did so. “F-Freya,” my voice shattered. Everything shattered—my world shattered into a million pieces. “No…No, no, Freya. It can't be! Wake up, come on, Freya!” I tried to shake her and wake her up, but nothing happened. “Get away!” “Faith!” Lily exclaimed. My lips parted immediately when my father pushed me so hard that I hit the wall. I glanced at him with so many questions running in my head. His eyes were burning as if he could kill me any moment. “You killed your own sister, Faith! How could you? Are you so insecure about her that you let her die, huh?!” My brows crossed, trying to absorb everything in my head. I killed who? Freya? What is he talking about? I shook my head multiple times in front of them. “Why are you saying that, Dad? I didn't kill her…I didn't kill Freya.” I stood up and tried to reach them. “Dad, it was an acci—” I paused when his hand landed on my cheek. I felt how it burned from that hard slap. “Please, stop!” Lily exclaimed and shielded me from them. “I can't bear to see you in the house with us,” my father said as if he was disowning me. “D-Dad…it's not what you think. Let me explain…I didn't kill Fre— “I will arrange your marriage today so you can leave our house,” Mom uttered beside Dad, giving me those coldest eyes. Wait. Why do I feel like I am the villain here? Why do I feel like I am a criminal who killed my own sister? It was an accident. I didn't want it to happen! “M-Mom,” “Don't you ever touch me!” She exclaimed when I tried to reach her. Those eyes, she was looking at me as if I am the most cruel person in the world. “As soon as possible, you will get married.” My father declared, putting an end to everything. “I will marry her then,” all of us paused as we heard that voice. It was him, Elijah Gray Luciero, walking towards us and eyeing me with his cold and blank eyes. “What are you saying, Elijah?” Lily asked, stunned. “I will marry Faith,” he announced very clearly as he went closer to me. “I will make you regret everything you did to Freya, Faith.” He whispered. itsclarixassChapter 1 “Where are you going?” Mom asked me when I went downstairs, wearing a black dress. Today is my sister's funeral. It's been two days since I got discharged from the hospital. Since I came back home, none of them treated me right. My parents never talk to me, not until now. I had to look behind me, checking if she was talking to me or not. “It's Freya’s funeral,” I replied. My father laughed as if he lost his mind. I remained glancing at them with questions right through my eyes. “Who says that you're going with us?” Mom asked as the side of her lips rose while her sharp eyes were pierced at me. “What? But Freya is my sister. I must co—” “And you killed your sister, Faith. Have you forgotten about it?” My lips parted. I was left with no words at all. I couldn't even make a sentence when she said that again. I was indeed in awe. Everything was processing in my head slowly. I can't believe them. I can't believe that they are blaming her death on me. “How many
Chapter 2 I was standing on the balcony of my room, watching the clouds move in the sky. Today is the wedding. I am already wearing the wedding gown that I designed myself. I designed this a long time ago and I never once expected that I would be the one to wear this as well. In a few hours, I will be tied to Elijah. In my entire life, I never once thought that this day would happen. Who would have thought that I would marry the man that was once a lover of Freya? I don't know if I should be happy or not. Everything just feels heavy ever since Freya died from the accident. “You still have time to run away,” I was standing alone when I heard her. I didn't waste my time looking at her anymore. I heard her footsteps coming towards me as she went inside the room. “I won't run away,” I uttered as I heavily sighed. “Are you okay?” She asked beside me. I glanced at her for a moment, her words warmed me. She was already wearing a sleeveless rose gold semi-gown with a slit on its left
Chapter 3“Congratulations, Faith and Elijah.” We have been greeting the guests since we arrived at the reception of our wedding and I have been forced to smile like everything's fine in front of them. All of them have their own worlds, even our parents who were busy entertaining the others. Honestly, I don't know any of them. Some of them are familiar to me, unlike Elijah who knows each of them. “Thank you,” I replied, forcing a tiny smile on my lips. That was all that I could do while engaging with them.“Sadly, Freya didn't get to see this.” One of the ladies uttered, which made my smile fade. I froze for a moment before I glanced at Elijah. I saw how his fake smile vanished as well. “You were Freya's boyfriend before, right? I can't believe your parents arranged this marriage beyond tha—”“She's dead, Mrs. Alejandro. Can we at least respect it?” I looked away when Elijah cutted her out. I felt the tension embraced all of us and I knew that they would talk behind our backs after
Chapter 4 That night it rained; it was a very heavy rain as if the sky was filled with rage. I could feel my tears slipping out of my eyes while looking at the white ceiling of the room. Elijah's scent was all over me. I could still feel his touch as if his hands were still traveling every corner of my body. The middle of my legs was sore—and I could feel it all like it was burning and wrecked. “W-Where are you going?” He caught my attention in one snap even how stuttered I was when he didn't even lay down beside me. He was all naked in front of me and he didn't mind. For so many years that we have been together as friends and as my sister's lover, I never once imagined myself being with him on this kind of night where we are both naked with our torn hearts and souls. “The honeymoon is done,” he replied without giving me an eye. I crumpled the sheet of blanket covered on my body. He sounded like he just portrayed his role as the groom in this wedding. My womanhood is bu
Chapter 5“He despised me,” I uttered while I was busy checking out the new set of clothing fabrics that was delivered today. I am still stuck with what I heard and saw from Elijah last night. He was grieving, mourning, and hating me each day. It slapped me with the truth that he really did just marry me to punish me—to make my life like a real hell. “How was he?” Lily asked. Yesterday, it was Lucas who visited me, and now it's her. I know that the two of them are worried. Among all the people who hate me, there are still Lucas and Lily who cared for me. It turns out that Elijah belongs to the group of people who wished me to die instead of my sister. “Cold? He doesn’t care. Elijah changed after Freya passed away. He's full of anger,” rage is firing up inside and outside of him. “What about your parents? Did they reach out?” I smirked and shook my head. Of course, they won't contact me again unless they have to. They hate me. They treat me like a devil who killed Freya as if I pl
Chapter 6“Ms. Faith,” I heard the maid calling me again. Elijah began to wear his shirt, as if kissing and bringing a woman in our house wasn't a wrong thing at all. Tears are welling out in my eyes and I knew that at any moment they would slip out. “I'm going upstairs,” that is all that I could say. Everything became heavier. Making a step to go upstairs like nothing happened at all was the hardest thing to do. My entire body was feeble; my hands and legs were trembling in weakness. A dagger was stabbed in my chest and I could feel its pain invading the entire me. “The dinner is ready,” one of the maids broke the ice between me and Elijah. I glanced at him and I didn't even see any glimpse of conscience. “You should eat first,” the maid beside me said. She looks concerned, they all do—except for Elijah who doesn't care at all. I feel like they stepped on me, crushing my legality and rights as his wife. “I'm fine,” I replied and forced a tiny smile as much as I could. “Ms. Fai
Chapter 7Elijah's cruelty worsened. I thought he would stop, but he didn't. He is not just shattering me, he's also disrespecting me as his wife. It seems like the piece of paper that is tying us together in this same roof has no power at all. He didn't leave any shame and respect for me. “You like it, baby?” “Y-yes! Ahhhh! Shit, faster, Elijah!”“Ohhhh! Ahhhh!” I can hear them loudly each night. They don't make me sleep, not even a blink in the evening. I was always here in this room, wide awake. I moved out of my room and now stayed in one of the guest rooms after I witnessed him fucking another woman. Guess what? Tonight is another woman who's probably enjoying his company and his penis in her vagina. How can't they? Elijah is fulfilling their dreams as a woman. Perhaps, they are thinking that it is a privilege to be fucked by Elijah Luciero that they all dreamed of. Two weeks passed and they still haven't stopped yet. I go home each day from work seeing different women who ar
Chapter 8“Sleep in my house from now on,” Lily captured my eyes in one snap. Does she hear herself? “My house is always open for you, Faith. Uh, you also have your condo. Why not stay there? Or just choose where do you like to stay—”“Hold on,” my brows crossed while I was processing everything they were saying right after they brought me back to my shop. I saw Elijah leaving earlier. He didn't even say anything back there. I tilted my head and made an awkward chuckle. “I can't do that,” I said. They both froze. Their eyes were both glued at me. “What do you mean you can't? If you're scared of Elijah, don't worry about him.” Lucas said with no fear at all. He looks chill as if he can handle Elijah in a blink of an eye. “I'll talk to my lawyer to help you with the divorce pap—”“No,” that one word made them both pause. I think that was enough to cut out the thoughts filling their heads. “No?” Lucas asked, probably befuddled. “I'm not filing a divorce. We've already talked abo
Epilogue2 years later…“Levi?” My brows were crossed when my secretary, Elise, said that. “Yes, Ms. Faith. The boy said that he needs you right now,” now, my brows just arched. This is a deja vu to me. Levi always calls me when he is in trouble. I shook my head before I stood up from my swivel chair, grabbed my coat and keys, before I leave. “Alright. I'll continue the work tomorrow. You go home early if you want, Elise.” I smiled at her before I marched out of my office. It's been two years since the chaos in our lives finally ended. After that night, justice was served to my mother, Freya, and to Marie who was raped and harrassed. Though she underwent therapy for a year with all the traumas, but right now, she's living her life. Just like what I promised, I am paying for her education. “Where are you, baby?” Elijah asked over the phone with his husky voice.“Stop seducing me,” I mumbled and chuckled. I parked my car at the University where Levi is studying before I came insid
Chapter 107 “You know what, I sometimes think that you're friends with God,” Joaquin chuckled unbelievably. “No matter how we tried to kill you, you always survive. You even tried killing yourself and yet you're still alive,” he added. He stood up as he hid his hands inside his pockets. “But not today, Faith… you're gonna die now, and I'll make sure of that.” Am I gonna die here? Is this the reason why I couldn't die when I asked multiple times to die? Only to be killed by these two psychos? “I'm not scared of death, Joaquin.” The side of my lips curled up. He can threaten me with all things, but not with death. “Why do you think I attempted suice countless times? Death, that's what I want. And if you will kill me today, then I shall be grateful because you will fulfill a wish of mine,” I might die here, but who cares? I kept asking for this, and maybe the God above is finally granting my wish. Perhaps, this is where my life ends—where all the pain ends. If my death would end
Chapter 106 Elijah's POV “Can you fucking sit, Elijah?! You're not helping!” Lily exclaimed. I kept walking repeatedly right in front of them. Faith left earlier and until now, she's not yet coming back. It's already dark, for god's sake! “Bro, maybe she's just taking a long time dealing with that ass. Calm yourself down,” Lucas commented. “She's not answering my calls,” I already called her so many times and she didn't answer. It was only ringing but she wasn't answering it. “Well, perhaps she's still with the client,” Brian said and shrugged. “Her secretary cannot be reached,” Lily mentioned. She already looks frustrated as well. “I don't feel good about this,” her father said. I could tell that he's already overthinking right now. “They are here,” Horan said from the veranda. I was the one who quickly went out of the living room to see Faith with my own eyes. I was kinda able to breathe in relief. “See? I told you, she's fine.” Lucas said and let out a chuckle. However, w
Chapter 105 “AHHHHH!” I screamed all my rage as I threw the furniture on the screen as the detective bid a goodbye to us. I was shaking in anger. I didn't stop from throwing the furniture around, trying to lessen my pain and hatred. “HE'S A FUCKING BASTARD! HE KILLED FREYA AND MY MOTHER!” I yelled as I ignored the tears that were dripping down on my face. I feel like all the pain and rage that I felt since the death of Freya was gathered inside me. “Faith, stop!” Elijah was so strong that he was able to capture me in his arms, refraining me from throwing another piece of furniture on the ground. As I met his eyes, I felt like I came back to my senses. And there I was, feeling feeble once again. My tears invaded my eyes until my knees folded on the ground. I let go of the furniture from my grasp and began to cry a river. None of them dared to approach me. Only Elijah was able to come near me. I feel so miserable. That bastard ruined my life the moment he tried killing me and F
Chapter 104 Elijah and I were left standing there as we both watched the detective leave. A minute later, I saw Lucas who came back inside our car earlier. “He's calling,” Elijah said as his phone rang and I saw Horan calling. “He left,” Elijah uttered over the phone. “Stay there. Adrian is activating the tracking device,” Horan said on the line. The call was loudspeaker. “I'm sorry for what happened. I'm gonna clean this,” a real waiter came to us and immediately cleaned the mess that we purposely created in order to plant the tracking device for the detective. When the waiter finished cleaning the mess, the device was finally activated. “It's working. You can now leave, the detective is back at the station.” I was able to finally breathe when he said that. All my worries fade away in one snap. “Thank God,” I muttered. The strength I pulled in earlier vanished my body. Now, I felt weak after acting tough in front of the detective. “We should go now,” Elijah said as he quick
Chapter 103“Are you sure you can do this?” Elijah asked the next day. Today, we're going to do the plan that we talked about yesterday. I would not deny that I feel nervous. How can't I? The detective was sharp. If he is really the culprit, then he would anticipate everything that we could do. I can't mess this up, we can't. If we succeed with this mission, we will have a chance to finally find Marie. “Of course,” I said. I gave all my best to hide my fear in front of him. I knew that if he saw how terrified I was, he would not let me do the mission. “Don't worry about me, Elijah. We have to do this in order to save Marie,” I said as I fixed his collar. I chose to look at it rather than cross his gaze that was stuck at me. I didn't want him to catch my real emotions. “This is not just to save Marie, this is also to end this war,” he added, followed by his heavy sigh as he sat on the bed, looking frustrated and bothered. He's worried, I could tell that in one glance. He doesn't
Chapter 102 “It's not his real voice,” Adrian said while he kept repeating the voice of the culprit. I was able to record it during the call and from the video he sent. I heard Lucas chuckled. “This bastard is really smart. He's not gonna let us find out so easily who he is,” “What do we do?” I asked. “I have a plan,” we all stopped when Detective Horan arrived with some of his men following him inside. They all looked exhausted but they are still doing their job to find Marie. Lily whistled. “Interesting. Let's talk about it,” “You should take a rest for a while. There's food in the dining room. You guys should eat first,” I might be so eager and in a hurry to find Marie as soon as possible, but I also care for their health. In order for them to look for Marie, they must have enough strength to do so. We let everyone rest for the meantime. Elijah and I went to our room just to spend some of our time together. We were back on the bed, cuddling, while staring at the empty ceilin
Chapter 101 With the days passed and we still had nothing to find Marie, I tried distracting myself for my own sake. But it is just really hard to do that, especially that I see all of them working so hard to look for her. “It's good to sit here early in the morning while drinking coffee,” Lily muttered. It's 6 am and we are both on the veranda, watching the peaceful view of the garden in front of us. There was still fog that covered the place a bit and I could still feel the cold that naturally comes every morning. There were no people working to find Marie yet. Well, this day is just about to begin. “Well, you're drinking milk.” I reminded her and we both chuckled with that. She was caressing her belly, which is already huge now. The aroma of my coffee is filling the entire veranda. I do love mornings like this, but I will love it more if Marie isn't in the hands of the culprit. I don't know what will happen today, but I hope we can find something that will lead us to Marie.
Chapter 100After the video was sent to us, I hired more people to look for Marie. Detective Horan didn't let his guards down, too. His entire team is working their fingers to the bone to find Marie. The video that we watched kept playing in my head. That bastard punched Marie and it crumpled my chest all the time. She did nothing wrong in life to deserve things like this. “I should have just come with her,” I said with so many regrets. I should have just disregarded my meetings so I could be with her. If I didn't let her enroll by herself, she would not be in that culprit’s hand. She would not experience that kind of thing in her life.“It happened for a reason,” Elijah said while holding my hand. We are outside the clinic of my Psychiatrist. I am here for another check up and I would not be surprised if she says that I am not getting any better. I have been stressed with everything and I could not even make a good sleep. “What reason?” I glanced at him bitterly.I don't see any
