"You bastard, you rotten bastard. . . I will make you pay for this.”Lucianda threatened in a provoked voice but Prince Hakeem only laughed outrageously as he glinted down at her exposed breasts. "You and who will do that?" He made a mocking sound. "My dear Lucianda, the only reason you escaped from my wrath was because my findings indicated you are a decent woman, but don't try to take advantage, you will pay dearly for it." He warned coldly and Lucianda shivered physically. Laughing devilishly at her fear, Prince Hakeem kept his eyes on her pouty breasts and just when Lucianda felt she would die from the embarrassment and the unwanted passion washing over her body, he gave an insulting snort as he got up from the bed, and before she could do anything, with a blank expression, he covered her body with a wrap. “Try to know your place.” He said before striding out of the room. Only then did Lucianda give way to tears. What was her offence? She was just a disillusioned widow trying to get over all that had happened in her life and here is another cruel soul, trying to create more problems for her. ***** Lucianda Castos, the widow of the late powerful Alex Castos, refused to mourn the death of her husband. All she wanted was to start the process of healing. Prince Hakeem, her husband's equally powerful but ten times deadlier rival, would not permit her to do that. He had another thing planned and Lucianda did not know what that meant for her. She hated her husband and everything that had to do with him. And she would avenge the pain they made her go through. She has only two missions; to protect her son and to hurt those who hurt her.

 Chapter 2: The Audacity

The audacity of this man will never stop amazing her. “Really? You mean you expect people to laugh and dance when you sneak into their house and their bedroom?” She asked sarcastically. “Oh no, I did not sneak, at least not to the house. Your butler allowed me into the house after I showed him the message you sent asking me to wait for you at the house, and when he offered me a glass of water, I accepted and after making sure he was gone, I sneaked into your bedroom without any of the servants seeing me. He must probably have assumed I left already.” He explained with a careless shrug. Luci blinked severally. ‘Message? What message?’ She thought confusedly. “When did I send you a message, mister?” She asked coldly. “You might not have sent it but it was in your name. I have my way around these things, you know?&r

Chapter 3: The Message

Few minutes later, Lucianda got a beep on her mobile, removing the phone from her bag to read the message, she froze. “This will be the last time you will walk away from me when I am talking to you, Lucianda Castos. Next time, I might not be so forgiving.” The message had no name and Lucianda did not have the contact on her list, but she knew. It was from that person, Prince Hakeem. The text was so straightforward that she did not have to think twice about the sender. Obviously, getting her private number was not hard for an influential person like Hakeem and he has no hesitation in making her know it. Wondering if there was nowhere the man could not penetrate, Lucianda wanted to scream. Assuring herself it would not do any good to be publicly dramatic, Luci entered her car and as the driver drove away, she decided to channel the anger a

Chapter 4: The Police

Hearing his voice now brought Lucianda back to the present and she gave a shudder. “Police? You amaze me, Lucianda, and I believe you should know better.” He tsk tsk in a voice that’s still heavy with humour. What he was telling her was to stop fooling around. Of course there was no police department in the country that was willing to mess with the likes of Hakeem. His power was beyond the city that it reached far beyond the shores of London and his neighboring countries. Messing with someone like Prince Hakeem would be like asking for the third World War to happen. The police department was aware of this and even the State House knew it.  He might not be occupying any public seat, but Hakeem was the Prince of a powerful Emirate, therefore his connections were solid. “What I know is that your presence in my life is

Chapter 5: The Promise

Taking a deep breath to calm her nerves, Lucianda told herself not to pay attention to him. At least, not until she found out the game he was playing.“Hello Prince Hakeem, you wanted to see me?” If he isn’t going to behave, then she will show him how to have some manners.Knowing she just took a dig of courtesy at him, Hakeem winced. Then with a laugh, he conceded her point.“Please come in, Mrs. Castos, I am sorry for my ill manners.” He softly apologised as he opened the door more widely in welcome.“It will not be your first time.” Lucianda murmured with a sugar coated smile that was so fake, it was obvious as she entered the big hall. But in the next moment she almost stumbled in surprise. Contrary to her thoughts, Prince Hakeem’s home is so warm and welcoming, she blinked in surprise.Having expected something else from his home judging by his cold attitudes, Lucianda was surprised to see that the interior of his home was just as beautiful and breathtaking as the exterior.‘Who

Chapter 6: New Friend

Lucianda knew she was not looking good, and there was no saying what would happen if she walked into the house the way she was.Her son was a very intelligent young man and there was no way she would avoid his questions if he should see her before she could get to her room.Keenly observant and smart, he would definitely notice there was something amiss. Close to his mother, he was emotionally attuned to her feelings.Deciding it might be best to while away the time somewhere else till she could get herself under control, Lucianda knocked on the cabbie’s partition to talk to the driver.Telling him to take her to a favorable country park, Lucianda leant back to start the process of composing her emotions.Only then could she ponder on all that had happened and decided on her next line of action.A few minutes later, Lucianda came down from the taxi and after paying the cabbie man, she walked around the park before taking a seat beside a lonely looking boy.Lost in her thoughts, she pa

Chapter 7: The Compromise

Seeing that he must be one of those souls hard to convince once their minds are made up, Luci gave a loud sigh as they resumed their walk.Sam finally looked at her. “Are you sad again?” His brow was pinched worriedly.“Yes. I am sad because you don’t want to be my friend.” She told him as they entered the restaurant opposite the park.Following her to a table by the window, Sam was quiet as she gave their orders, but immediately the waitress left, he glanced at her.“I don’t mean to make you sad and I don’t mind being your little friend.” He told her.“Little friend? Aha aha, you are a big man, bro.” She told him playfully with a roll of her eyes.Sam laughed so joyously, the other diners turned to smile affectionately at them.“You are so funny, ma’am.” He said with another dose of laughter.“Okay, let’s compromise, Sam.” Luci told him with a serious face.He stopped laughing so suddenly it was as if a switch was put off.“Compromise?” He asked in a puzzled tone.“Yes. I really don’

Chapter 8: The Introduction

Dropping Lucianda’s hand as they got to a rickety door, Sam raised his hand to push the door, just as it opened. Lucianda really could not say who was the most surprised. Lucianda, Sam or the sick looking tiny woman facing them. Looking closely at her face, Lucianda saw it was so red it was not normal. Intuitively, she knew the woman had been crying. ‘For the husband that left her five years ago or for something else?’ Luci wondered with some surprise. “Oh Sammie, Sammie, why are you doing this to me? Do you know how tiredly I have walked round the area looking for you? I thought you had been kidnapped.” The woman finally explained the reason behind her tears as more water rolled down her eyes. Glad to know her tears had not been for that loser of a husband that left her, Lucianda nevertheless felt some guilt. She had monopolised Sammie’s time, therefore, the fault was hers. But before she could interject, Sammie ran to hug his mum. “I am sorry, mum, but I told you before, anyt

Chapter 9: The Lesson!

He almost fell the tray she was holding in his eagerness to talk to her.“What are you doing, Laura?” He cried nervously.Wondering if the boss was trying to scold her for something she had done, Laura took a step backward. Her boss could sometimes be mean in his words and actions.“I was going to serve a customer, sir.” She answered quietly.“Serve a customer? But why?” He asked in a fearful tone.Wondering if her boss was having a fever, Laura answered slowly.“Because it’s my job?” She asked with a raised eyebrow.“Yea yea, your job but not when your sister is here to see you. It will not reflect well on us.” He was anxious as he took the tray from her lifeless fingers.“My sister is here?” Laura wanted to add, ‘But I don’t have a sister?’“Yes and she is waiting for you right now in the

Chapter 10: Show of Power

It's sometimes necessary to pull weights…*****Seeing the man's hesitation and reading his mind clearly, Lucianda turned to Laura.“Laura? Did I tell you about the small businesses we crushed last year? Well, I am planning to take over some more. What do you think of this place? Think you don’t mind being the boss?” Lucianda asked carelessly.Catching up to Luci’s intention, Laura gave a small smile. “I will not want to work in this kind of place, Luci, even as a boss. But I guess we can auction it off.” Laura said.Listening to Laura’s suggestion, Luci almost laughed out loud. It seemed Laura was more wicked than she gave her credit for.‘Nice one Laura!’ Lucianda mentally applauded.‘Auction my place off? My long years of hard work?’ Visibly sweating, Collins did not need anyone to interpret their meanings, he slowly walked to the counter to get Laura a bottle of water.“What is this, Collins? Of course, I don’t want lukewarm water. Get me a chilled bottle.” Laura raised her voice
