And, it's a wrap!🎉🎉 See you in my new book: The Billionaire's Deceived Surrogate ☺️
“ …And then the three bears lived happily ever. The end.” I looked up from the storybook to find Jared asleep. I quietly tucked him in, turned on his nightlight and the baby monitor, then kissed him goodnight and left the room, leaving the door open a bit. Then I went to make dinner for myself. Jason hasn’t shown up or called in two weeks. As I plate my food, I can’t help but wonder why Jason would suddenly leave without a word.“He’s not even picking up his calls.” I mutter to myself as I angrily dig into my pasta. Just then I hear a car pull up to the driveway and I rush to the window to take a peep of whose coming in. The sight of my husband casually strolling to the door both relieve and infuriates me.“Jason! You had me worried sick about you! Where have you been? And why weren’t you taking your calls? You weren’t even at the company the other day. Did I do something wrong?” I asked all in one breath, feeling my eyes start to tear up from distress.“I need you to sign these pa
Skylar’s POVThe next day is a blur as I busy myself cleaning the whole house and take care of Jared as I anticipate a particular mail. However it isn’t until three days later that the contract comes in. I read through the contract and angrily call up Jason. “You can’t do this, Jason! I’ll put up with you divorcing me and whatever else you want to do but you can’t take my son away! I refuse to let you do that!” I yell out the minute he answers the phone.“You signed the papers Skylar. The contract states that you’ll willingly sign your parental rights over to me when the baby is weaned. You can’t back out now.”“I don’t know anything about this contract! Why are you being so cruel to me? What did I do to deserve all this?” I ask him, shocked that the Jason I trusted and was friends with will do something like this.“Have you signed the papers? I’ll be bringing my girlfriend over later today to get her acquainted to Jared. I don’t need you lashing out or causing a scene, understa
Skylar’s POVBennett and Patricia Jones, my stepparents, had adopted my when I was three. My biological parents had drowned in a cruise ship alongside my older brother, Pearce. I had almost died too, but the rescue team got to me quick and when they brought in the corpses of those who drowned, I was forced to identify my parents. My brother was never found though. My stepparents were the most greedy people I’ve ever seen. They only adopted me because of the money that was given to them by the government for my upkeep and after that money stopped coming in when I turned eighteen, they resorted to making life hell for me. Their greed for money was what pushed them to try and marry me off to Davis Roberts, when I turned twenty- three. And they only let me marry Jason because he had money. I guess I really shouldn’t be surprised that they’ll abandon me because I can’t give them what they want.I have to cool off from crying so much and school my expression before I head back to the hou
Skylar’s POV He looked just like the picture I had of my father with the exception of his hair that was raven black and the fact that he was slightly younger. Sharp brown eyes stared back at me as we spoke. He looked tired and not just the work kind of tired.Apparently, his six year old had witnessed the death of her mother and seven other people in a bank robbery gone wrong. Someone had tipped of the police and the mother and child were among the people held hostage at gunpoint by the robbers for over ten hours at when the police had got to them, the robbers had panicked and shot twelve people, eight of which had died before they could reach the hospital, his wife included. His little girl, Valentina, hasn’t said a word since, coupled with other signs of trauma and has just recently started having night terrors.By the end of our meeting, I have agreed to move over to Pittsburgh which should be about four hours from New York City where I stay, to monitor her and try to help her
Jason’s POV “He won’t stop crying Jason!... He’s going to make himself sick!” Alexandra tells me carrying a red faced Jared who has been crying since he woke up this morning. “Give him to me.” She hands him to me and he momentarily quiets down. “hey buddy… why are you crying? Daddy’s trying to work and I can’t do that with you on my lap”. I coo to him, sighing as I run my fingers through his hair. Things just haven’t been the same since the divorce. It’s only been two weeks and I’ve fought with Alex more times than I can count on my fingers. She just doesn’t do things like Skylar would. Jared has been put off by his mother’s disappearance and all she can think of is our marriage. I look down to find that Jared has fallen asleep and I take him to the nursery. When I’ve put him down I go downstairs intent in getting some coffee in my system when the doorbell rings. I’m faced with my parents on the other side of the door and I start panicking. They don’t know about the divorce.
“I don’t think it’s wise to send her to school this fast.” I mutter to Emilio. We were currently watching Val play in the backyard, occasionally having to play along with her, Although she mostly sought after her father claiming that she didn’t want to tire the baby ‘living in Aunt Sky’s belly’.“Why? She’s back to her normal self now. I want her to develop in time with her peers. Keeping her at home will only delay her… don’t you think?” He says. I don’t reply immediately, opting to walk towards Val and put her hair in a ponytail because it’s been getting in her eyes. When I sit back down I take a sip of my ginger tea before turning to face Emilio. “While I think that you have her best interests at heart, I must also present you with a psychological view as her therapist. She might withdraw if we rush her into society again. Let’s not forget her anxiety. I want her to leave all this behind too, but it’ll take time. She might be okay running off in the yard when it’s just us, but wha
New York City Jason’s POV I sit at the table, picking at the food in my plate. Alex sits across from me doing the same. We had another argument today about the way she invites people to my house. She claimed that she was free to do whatever she wanted and I happened to compare her stubbornness to Skylar’s mellow personality. She was furious after that and we yelled at each other a lot. I’m suddenly glad that Jared is not here to witness all this. I never argued like this with Skylar. If we disagreed on something, she would agree with me initially, then she’ll tell me the shortcomings of my decisions and we’ll find a compromise. Since she left my life has been a mess. The tabloids are going crazy over the reason for my sudden change in appearance, for worse. The more I sit here and think about everything, the more furious I get. I don’t even know who I’m mad at; myself, for deceiving Skylar, Alex, for convincing me to do all this, or Skylar, for letting me have my way. Part of me th
Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Emilio’s POV The next few months pass quickly. Not much happens other than the fact that Skylar’s pregnancy almost took a turn for the worse after she had a slip on the stairs. The details of the incident is nothing but a blur in my mind, but I vividly remember the fear and horror on her face when I found her lying in a puddle of blood. The whole way to the hospital, I kept praying that I don’t get pulled over with the amount of traffic rules I disobeyed. I had to wait a few hours in the hospital before I could get news about her condition and then I remembered that Val was home alone. I had to call a friend to go get her from the house and about an hour after I got a call from him. Val had apparently woken up and saw the blood that I hadn’t cleaned or covered in my haste. Shed hurt herself in the midst of the panic attack she’d had and he was bringing her to the hospital to get checked for a concussion and the likes. Honestly, those were the most horrible fo
