Lyra's POV

The wailing cries of my babies shattered the quiet morning, jolting me awake. My eyes snapped open, the golden rays of sunlight piercing through the window and bathing the room in warmth. I raised a hand to shield my face, groaning softly as I adjusted to the light. My body felt heavier than I remembered, but there was relief in the ache—a reminder that I had survived another day.

I pushed myself upright, glancing at the small, wriggling figures on the bed. Their cries filled the room, insistent and urgent. Despite my exhaustion, a smile tugged at my lips.

“Good morning, babies,” I murmured as I shuffled over to them, my voice still raspy from sleep. They quieted slightly at my approach, their tiny faces scrunched in distress.

I reached down, tickling their soft, round bellies. “Who’s making all this noise so early, huh?” I teased, forming exaggerated faces in an attempt to coax a giggle from them.

It worked. One of them let out a delighted chuckle, his little hands shooti

He stepped closer, standing just out of arm's reach, as though he could sense the storm brewing inside me. "We’ll find her."I clenched my fists so tightly my knuckles cracked. “Why does this keep happening?” I growled, the words coming out raw and thick with anger. My chest felt heavy, like it was caving under the weight of guilt and frustration. “I thought she’d finally found somewhere safe, even though I knew I couldn’t trust the Alpha of the Wolf Claw Pack.” My voice cracked slightly, but I pressed on. “And yet I was stupid enough to leave her there. Now look what’s happened.”Jacob sighed, running a hand through his dark hair. “Don’t blame yourself too much, Varg,” he said gently. “You couldn’t have known—”“Stop,” I cut him off, my voice sharper than I intended. The guilt was like a fire consuming me, burning through every excuse and rationalization. “I should’ve known. I should’ve pr

Varg's Pov “Varg?” Frederick mumbled, almost as if lost in thought, stepping back a little. “What brings you to the Moon Pack?”“I came to deliver a warning,” I said, my gaze drifting to Thanos. “Because if anything happens to Lyra, the next time I come here, it won’t be a friendly warning.”Thanos scoffed, his piercing blue eyes locking with mine knowingly. “Warning or not, Varg, that little wolf of yours better keep her mouth shut because the big bad wolf knows exactly where to bite.”His words sent a sharp pulse of anger through me, creating a sensation that almost made me lunge forward to fight him. But instead, he turned away and walked back into the house, leaving me standing there, fists clenched in frustration.I stood motionless for a moment, watching him go, a wave of regret washing over me. I felt stupid for letting him walk away without a proper warning. Turning sharply, I started to leave, brushing past the barricade wall when Frederick’s voice rang out behind me.“Your

Varg's Pov Lucian’s grip on my shoulder was firm but grounding, and for a moment, it pulled me out of the storm raging in my head. The room was quiet except for my heavy breaths and the faint hum of the light above. The broken remains of the punching bag lay scattered across the floor, mocking my failure to keep it together.“Varg,” Lucian said, his voice calm and filled with sympathy, “you’ve got to talk to me. This, whatever this is, it’s not like you.”I clenched my jaw, my fists still aching from the force of my blows. Talking wouldn’t fix anything. It wouldn’t bring her back. But Lucian didn’t back down, his eyes full of determination.“You’re not going to push me away this time,” he continued. “Let me help you find her.“I laughed bitterly, though it sounded hollow even to my ears. “What’s the point, Lucian? Trying to act like you're on my side wouldn't change the fact that you started all this. It won’t changed what had happened. It won’t bring Lyra back.”His expression wav

Lyra's POV The golden hues of the setting sun spilled across the porch, bathing everything in a soft warmth. Sabrina cradled Justine in her arms, rocking him gently as she hummed an old lullaby. I sat across from her, pulling Moon out of the crib and letting her tiny body rest on my arm. Her soft coos and bright red irises glittered under the evening light, making my heart swell with both love and longing.“What are their names?” Sabrina asked, her voice gentle, her gaze focused on Justine’s chubby cheeks as he gurgled in response to her lullaby.“Justine, Moon, and Tristan,” I replied softly, running a finger along Moon’s tiny hand as she gripped it tightly. Her giggle melted my heart.“Beautiful names,” Sabrina said with a smile that reached her eyes.“Thanks,” I murmured, my gaze drifting back to Moon. Her red eyes captivated me, glimmering like rubies. They reminded me of him. Of Varg.A pang of sadness hit me as thoughts of him surfaced. I wondered what he was feeling right now.

Lyra's POV"Tell him I’ll come to him, and that he should stop spying on her," a hushed voice drifted into my ears. My eyes fluttered open, the weight of sleep still clinging to me. I carefully stood from the bed and shuffled to the window, peeking through the curtains.Sabrina was standing near the woods, her figure tense as she faced a man dressed in a black hoodie and pants. Though they were a fair distance from the house, their voices carried as if they were right beside me."Alright," the man said, his deep voice sharp and full of warning. "He doesn’t like being kept waiting."Sabrina’s gaze dropped to the ground, her fingers trembling before she steadied them with her other hand. "I won’t let you down," she replied, her tone quiet but resolute. "Tell him that."The man didn’t respond. Instead, he turned and strode into the woods, his retreating figure swallowed by the shadows. I focused on Sabrina, her shaky breaths filling the silence as she turned toward the path leading back

Varg's POV“Marcus said he saw a lady with crying baby walk into the woods a few days ago,” Lucian said, his voice breaking the silence as we trekked through the woods, accompanied by Jacob and a few of Lucian’s Betas. “I think she’s the one they saw.”I didn’t immediately react to Lucian’s words. My mind wasn’t focused on what he was saying. Everything he’d mentioned since offering to help me had felt more like a shot in the dark. And who in the hell would believe someone like Marcus Blood Moon? The guy’s a loner who fled his pack years ago and now lives in the woods with his concubine, who, by the way, was mated to another man.The guy was insane, but I couldn’t entirely fault Lucian for trusting him. He had this odd habit of taking in whatever came his way.“That’s not enough reason to be out here wandering aimlessly,” Jacob chimed in, voicing exactly what I was thinking as he stepped up to walk alongside us.“We don’t know, but we have to try,” Lucian replied.I stayed quiet, my m

Lyra's POVThe soft light streaming through the window pulled me from sleep, and I rolled to the other side of the bed, clutching the pillows tightly. Their softness tempted me to drift back into slumber.A cool breeze swept into the room, pushing the beige curtains further inward. I felt it gentle touch on my face and sighed, finally sitting up. Pulling my hair into a tight bun, I made my way to the bathroom to splash water on my face. The day felt crisp, and I decided I’d take my pups out for a stroll. It had been weeks since we’d last stepped outside, and they deserved to experience the daylight and fresh air.But as I wiped my face with a towel, a faint sound caught my attention. My heart stilled. A cold shiver crawled down my spine.“I’ve waited long enough for your response,” a familiar voice said, low and menacing. “But as always, you’ve failed to get back to me. Lyra's POV“Shit,” he groaned, shoving me so hard my body slammed into the closet doors. The impact rattled the entire frame, but I forced myself to my feet, ignoring the ache in my back. Rage coursed through me, drowning out the pain. I lunged at him, claws outstretched, aiming for his face.My attack was wild, raw, and desperate, but he was ready. With a guttural growl, Thanos shifted into his wolf form. His black fur rippled like a storm cloud, and his crimson eyes burned with malicious delight. His massive frame dwarfed me, his presence suffocating the room. His growl deepened, and he snapped his jaws at me, a warning I ignored. I charged again, my wolf instincts sharpening my senses. I swiped at his side, claws barely grazing the thick hide beneath his fur. His strength was unmatched, and it showed in every movement. With a single swipe of his massive paw, he sent me sprawling to the ground, my body skidding across the wooden floor. Varg’s POV“Daddy, I’m scared,” Moon whispered, her small fingers clutching the blanket as she looked up at me with wide, fearful eyes.A cold chill crawled up my spine at the sight of her trembling lips, her innocence tainted by the horrors she had witnessed.I sat beside her on the bed, brushing a strand of dark hair from her forehead. “Don’t worry, honey. I won’t let anyone hurt you, your brothers, or your mom.” My voice was firm, a promise carved into my soul. “I’ll make sure that evil man never comes near us again.”Moon’s lips curled into a relieved smile, though the fear still lingered in her eyes. “Thank you, Daddy.”I forced a smile and ruffled her hair gently. “Now, go to sleep.” I tucked the blanket around her small frame, making sure she was warm and safe.I glanced over at Tristan and Justine, their small chests rising and falling in peaceful slumber.A sigh escaped my lips as I sat there for a moment, watching them. They were safe—for now. But that didn’t ease the anger

Varg’s POVI climbed out of the car, my boots sinking into the scorched earth as I took in the remains of the Blackwood Pack’s territory. The air reeked of smoke and blood, the acrid scent of burnt wood thick in my lungs. Half of the pack’s home was nothing but smoldering ruins, blackened timbers standing like skeletal reminders of what had once been a place of safety. This had never happened before. Lucian and I had always protected the pack, watched over them, made sure no outside threat dared cross our borders. Yet now, looking at the devastation, it felt like all of our efforts had been for nothing.“This is bad,” Light murmured beside me, stepping over a fallen beam to kneel beside one of the injured wolves.“I can’t believe Thanos came right under my nose and did this,” Lucian muttered, his voice tight with barely restrained fury. He turned to face me, his brown eyes burning with frustration. “This is getting out of hand.”My hands curled into fists at my sides, nails biting int

Lyra’s POV“Shit, this can't be happening!” Varg’s voice rang through my ears, jolting me awake. I opened my eyes and sat up, my gaze drifting toward him, only to see the door slam shut.“What’s happening?” I mumbled to myself, still groggy. Forcing myself up, I walked over to the closet, grabbed a shirt and trousers, and slipped into them. Pulling my hair into a messy bun, I hurried to the door, pushing it open hastily. The hallway was eerily silent. In the distance, I caught a glimpse of Varg as he rushed out of the mansion with Light and Lucian.“Varg?” I called out, but he didn’t seem to hear me. My heart pounded as I quickly made my way toward the entrance. As soon as I stepped outside, a thick fog of smoke filled the sky, blocking the rising sun. The air carried the acrid scent of burning wood, mixed with something heavier. Clothes? Flesh?Panic gripped me as I turned toward the gate, just in time to see it slide open. Varg’s car sped out of the mansion, disappearing into the di

  • Her Chosen Mate   80. You and I

Lyra’s POVThe water cascaded down my hair as I ran my fingers through it, pushing it back. Tilting my face up, I closed my eyes, letting the cold water hit my skin, the sensation grounding me. After a moment, I lowered my head, allowing the water to soak into my milk-white skin, my body absorbing the quiet solace of the shower.A few weeks ago, before the news of Thanos' attacks spread, I had dared to dream of something different. My children had never stepped foot outside the Dom mansion since they arrived, and I had wanted to take them out, to let them meet others like them, to feel the freedom they had never known. But that dream was shattered the moment the news arrived. With a sigh, I turned off the tap and reached for a towel, wrapping it around my body. Grabbing another, I gently squeezed the excess water from my hair before draping it over my head.Stepping into the bedroom, I made my way to the closet, pulling out my nightwear. I had just finished slipping into my pants when

  • Her Chosen Mate   79. Mindful Decision

Varg's POV“What the fuck are you suggesting?” I snapped, my voice sharper than I intended. “You want us to leave Norway because of Thanos?”Lucian sighed, raking his fingers through his hair in frustration. “It’s the only way I can make sure you, Lyra, and your kids stay safe.”“I’m not doing that,” I spat back, fists clenched so tight I could feel my nails biting into my palms. “If Thanos wants war, then war is what he’ll get.”Lucian’s eyes were wide, fear swimming in them, but I wasn’t about to back down. I wasn’t like him, always trying to avoid a fight before it even started. If Thanos wanted to cross me, he’d better be ready to face the consequences.“You don’t understand what’s happening, Varg,” Lucian insisted, his breath quickening. “This isn’t some random arena brawl. Thanos has the strength of a Lycan now.”He reached under his desk and pulled out a scroll, unrolling it across the table. “He’s taken over five packs in just two years. The only packs left standing are Blood

  • Her Chosen Mate   78. A Little Chatting

Lyra's POV The creaking sound of the door stirred me from my restless state, not that I had been sleeping. After what Varg had told me, sleep was impossible. Every time I closed my eyes, I tried to think of ways to keep my family safe, but my thoughts always led me back to fear. The mere image of Thanos sent a chill down my spine.I sat up in bed just as Bethany walked in, a basket of neatly folded clothes in her arms. She made her way to the closet, her voice calm but carrying an air of curiosity.“I heard the Moon Pack is in a tense situation these days.”I turned my gaze toward her. I knew she wanted to start a conversation, even though I wasn’t in the mood. But Bethany was someone I could confide in.“That’s what I heard,” I admitted. “I’m scared, Bethany. What if one day, Thanos comes here and tries to harm me or my pups?”Bethany placed a stack of folded clothes into the closet before turning to me. “I’m not sure about that,” she said matter-of-factly. “Thanos coming here would

Varg’s POVThe look on Lyra’s face when I told her about Thanos broke my heart. Fear flickered in her eyes, deep and raw, piercing straight into mine. I understood that fear. It was the same one that had been clawing at the edges of my thoughts since I first heard Alpha Warren’s warning.Lyra’s voice was barely above a whisper, trembling as she asked, “What are we going to do now? What if he decides to come for this pack?”“That would be a death sentence for him,” I said firmly.Thanos had never dared cross our borders, not since the brutal fight in the woods all those years ago. I had expected him to return for revenge, but he never did. That didn’t mean he had forgotten. He was patient. But he knew the truth, he wouldn’t stand a chance against me, not when the Blackwood Pack was one of the strongest in Norway.Lyra sighed, wrapping her arms around herself as she sank onto the bed. Worry still clouded her face, her delicate features shadowed with uncertainty.“I’m scared, Varg,” she

Daddy promised to teach me how to hunt,” she pouted, her lips pushing out like a disgruntled pup.At her words, I turned sharply, my heart giving a small lurch.“Baby, of course, he’ll teach you, when you’re eighteen. But for now, you should focus on getting into Blue Dawn Academy. It’s a place for cute little angels like you.” I smiled, walking over to her and settling beside her on the couch, tucking a stray strand of her

Lyra’s POVI was home. The realization settled in my chest, warm and comforting.“Thank you for helping me out,” I told Bethany as we carried the babies into the room, heading to the cribs that was adorned with a gold nameplate that shimmered under the soft glow of the overhead light. The room was breathtaking, far more spacious than I had expected. The walls were painted in warm shades of white and brown, creating a sense of peace and comfort. Above us, the ceiling was a masterpiece, painted with an artistic display of the sky, soft, wispy clouds stretched across the canvas, giving the illusion of endless serenity.Three beautifully crafted brown cribs stood side by side, their intricate wooden designs carved with care. A plush beige couch sat in the corner, its inviting cushions promising comfort for the long nights Varg and I would undoubtedly spend here, watching over our children.I gently placed Moon in her crib, her tiny fingers immediately reaching for my hair with a playful c
