Mercedes leant against the window of the small bedroom in the hotel suite in Ponsonby where they were currently staying. She combed her tangled hair with her fingers, wishing Sedar had allowed her to shower before the doctor arrived. Her body shook as her mind wandered; the tears that spilt from her tear ducts demonstrated the toll that the constant life-threatening situation had taken on her.
Her thoughts kept repeating the bullet striking the road where the pool of oil leaked, and she wondered where it had come from and the magnitude of such a small object obliterating everything it brushed, altering time in the blink of an eye, which is all it took when it ignited against the pool of oil with the intentions of claiming Zeynep.
She despised the fact that she loved Sedar with a potent passion as if she were a junkie on a bad trip. However, her heart knew what it wanted, and who was she to deny herself of love?
She yawned and touched the chain around her neck
Sedar dashed towards her, sliding on the ground as he examined her with the words 'Please, not my baby' running through his mind. As he stood with his wife in his arms, his heart was beating in his ears, distorting his world. As she cried out in pain, he staggered towards the door, holding her close to his chest. "Get the jeep ready, notify the hospital that we're on our way, and notify Ezekiel that his 'kid' has been targeted once more!" He bellowed out, his words bouncing off the wall and reverberating in his ears. They exited the elevator car, jumped into the waiting Jeep, and sped away. The hospital was only a few minutes away, but it felt like an eternity as they zoomed past traffic, running yellow lights, and tooting at cars to drive faster or move out of the way. A nurse stood at the double doors with a wheelchair in her hands, a female doctor in a white coat, and Ezekiel was waiting for them outside of the emergency department when the Jeep came to a
"I want you to hold him accountable, make him suffer as a result of murdering our baby!" Mercedes sobbed as she remained curled up on her side in the hospital bed. "If there is one thing you can do for me, it is to inflict some serious pain on the bastard." Her words were deeply loaded with venom, and they sounded strange to her. "Torture him gradually, until he wishes he had never come after us!!" Sedar handed Ezekiel the printed photos and knelt beside her, wiping away the tears that pooled around her eyes, threatening to burst like a dam and the anger he once felt before being overcome by an outpouring of love for his unborn child, returned with a vengeance. "Askim, (my love) you have my word on it. He will be held accountable for the transgressions he has committed against us." He declared with his top lip curling up in a snarl. As her anger was suddenly directed at him, she shook her head, smacking his hand away. "You said he wouldn't hurt me again," she
She hobbled down the corridor with her head bowed as she clutched her stomach, stifling her cries as she bit the inside of her cheek. Passing an empty room with the door wide open, she spotted a males trenchcoat slung over the end of the bed and without second-guessing her motives, she crept into the room, pulling the trenchcoat over her shoulders. She popped the collar after she stuffed her long hair inside the jacket, and covered her head with the baseball cap she discovered hanging on the back of the door's hook. She couldn't allow Sedar or his henchmen to apprehend her; it was time for her to stand on her own two feet and reclaim control of her life. She was strong; being strong had been her only option since her seventh birthday, and she was sick of being strong for all the wrong reasons at the tender age of twenty-two. She made a pit stop on her way out, stopping by the intensive care unit, and paid Zeynep a quick visit. She needed to see her; she neede
As Sedar and his men approached the house, Ezekiel was already there, sitting on his bike and flinging his keys in the air. "She's in there; I can hear a small child crying for her father," Ezekiel said as he stepped off his bike and stuffed the set of keys into the pocket of his jeans. Sedar scowled at him, "Why are you still out here and not in there putting an end to it?" He muttered as he strode towards the door, his hand raised to knock. "I was waiting for backup, when she's in a state of rage," Ezekiel chuckled, shaking his head. "She is difficult to handle, and I wanted her to say everything she needed to say before you took her home." He simply explained, shrugging his shoulders, unconcerned about the doctors' safety. "And what if she has harmed him, putting the little girl and my unborn child at risk!" He growled through clenched teeth, knocking on the door, which trembled noticeably under his weight. Ezekiel grabbed his gun from the
Sedar stepped outside of Mercedes hospital room with her doctor. "Mr Ozturk, your wife has suffered a subchronic haemorrhage as a result of the abortion pills she was given at a high dose. We performed another transvaginal ultrasound and discovered that the fetus is healthy and she has successfully passed the majority of the tissue from the previous fetus." He began to inform him. "We've also given her some progesterone to help thicken the lineage in her uterus; she'll need to return for regular checkups, and I'll write you a prescription to pick up. The progesterone pills she will need to take in order to avoid premature labour" The doctor explained with sympathy coating his words and engulfing his chestnut brown eyes as he passed Sedar the prescription form he'd just filled out. "How likely is it that she will miscarry again?" Sedar inquired, his glassy sky blue eyes praying for his baby to grow to be strong and healthy regardless of the obstacles they face.
Sedar cocked his head, admiring the sky in all its glory, her velvety black curtain adorned with scattered specks of light was breathtaking as the moon illuminated the atmosphere. It made him feel at ease before the shit hit the fan. He inhaled the saltiness of the air as the waves crashed along the beach, creating a chilly breeze that sent goosebumps up his spine. He caught a glimpse of the superyacht swaying side to side in the distance as it held the one person he wished to end himself as he stood at the marina, staring out into the surf. With anticipation, he peered down at his golden watch encasing his bronze wrist as his dark hair encircled his forearms. He was eager to get the show underway. For the first time in a long time, he agreed with his büyük baba that this small fiasco needed to end, and he clenched his fists by his side. His nails pierced the skin on the palms of his hands and he allowed the bite of pain to consume him. "Is everything good ou
He stood at the saloon's entrance, his gaze fixed on his büyük baba, (grandfather) who sat back on his plush sofa, sipping red wine like a king. When his büyük baba looked up, his proudly worn smile soon faltered, and he stood up, setting his crystal flute on the table next to him. One of his men approached him and freely handed over his weapon, then returned to where he was standing, drawing another gun from the inside of his jacket. Sedar laughed, his shoulders rapidly bobbed up and down, the sight of his büyük baba in command of some low-life thugs with multiple teeth missing amused the shit out of him. His laughter was cut short when he was struck in the back of the head with a gun. He stumbled forward, catching his footing as he shook the fog that clouded his eyes and snarled at his assailant. "I dare you to try it again." He growled as he took a step forward, his fingers curling into his hands, forming tight fists ready to beat the shit out of the unfor
"Fuck!" Ezekiel roared. "He's not here, and Sedar is nowhere to be found, either. Scope the ocean within a 20-kilometre radius and return him safely, or I'm done for when I return to inform Mercedes that we've lost her husband." He ran his hand through his slick, wet hair and swung a broken chair across the room, roaring "FUCK!!" He walked through the superyacht, hoping that someone was still alive and breathing, and he intended to torture the prick until he divulged the location of Sedar's captivity. Mercedes' phone rang in the background, causing her to toss and turn, picking up a spare pillow, she threw it towards the dressing table where her phone sat. She stretched out her arm in search of her husband and encountered nothing but thin air. She grumbled as she embraced one of his pillows, buried her nose in it and deeply inhaled his scent. Her senses went crazy, as they always did when she breathed him in; her body thudded like the wires of
