Chapter 5

Arriving at the building the next day, Amanda was immediately allowed inside without waiting.

"Maybe he had already informed them of my coming." Amanda thought to herself.

Immediately Amanda got home yesterday, she made sure to search for Eric Adam online and she was shocked by the results.

Eric was a fast-rising billionaire in the tech industry, he started his business from scratch, there was only a little information about his personal life, just news about his success and business. There was no news about his wife and kid.

Amanda received the employment contract from the secretary, it had some rules which I found confusing and the salary was freaking generous.

Entering the building, Amanda is greeted by Josh, the robot, followed by the maids doing one thing or the other.

Amanda was thinking of asking one of them a question when she saw Mrs. Robinson coming inside.

" Mrs. Robinson!" Amanda ran toward her and hugged her tightly.

" Thanks for recommending me for the job, I got it without being asked one single question" Amanda explained.

" Really! " Mrs. Robinson exclaimed.

" Why are you surprised? I thought you put in some good words for me, " Amanda said, looking confused.

" No, I didn't,

" I only tell Mr. Adam, I have someone I can recommend. I am sure your qualification got you that job, Amanda." Mrs. Robinson said, smiling at her.

" How is Nina? I missed doing a pinky promise with her," Amanda said, walking with Mrs. Robinson towards the kitchen.

"She missed you too, she was always calling your name at school, thinking you are back," Mrs. Robinson said.

" I will see her by the weekend, we can go to the park together, right Mrs. Robinson," Amanda said, making puppy eyes.

"Of course, you can take her anywhere you like, Amanda, she will be happy, " Mrs. Robinson smiled.

Getting to the kitchen, Mrs. Robinson checks the store, takes note of what she needs to replace, and Amanda follows her patiently.

" I didn't see Mr. Adam this morning, " Amanda said.

" He must have gone to work." Mrs Robinson answered.

"What about his son and wife?" Amanda asked.

"Young master is still sleeping," Mrs. Robinson

answered, not mentioning anything about the wife.

"And his wife?" I asked her again.

" I really don't_"

"Welcome, Miss. Amanda Smith, I'm Derrick the Butler," a middle-aged man greeted interrupting Mrs. Robinson that was about to speak.

"Thanks, Mr. Derrick," she answered with a smile.

"Please, let me take you to the young master bedroom, " Mr. Derrick said, leading the way upstairs.

Getting to a particular room, the Butler knocked on the door but no one answered.

"Knock knock knock"

" Young master, your teacher is here, she would like to see you, please open the door." Mr. Derrick explained.

Still, James refused to open the door and Butler picked out his phone to make a call but Amanda quickly stopped him.

" Let me give it a try," Amanda said, smiling at the man.

Mr. Derrick doesn't want to sound negative, he decided to give Amanda a chance before calling Eric.

From the little information the secretary gave to Amanda about James, she was able to understand what he likes. She finds out he likes video games, and luckily, Amanda also likes them.

" Hello James, good morning" I'm Amanda, your private tutor," Amanda explained.

" I don't need a tutor, just let me be, " James shouted.

" Can we make a deal James?" Amanda asked.

" What deal will get you away from me? " James shouted again.

" Let's play video games," Amanda blurted.

" Whosoever wins will listen to the other party's request for life" Amanda explained.

" Are you crazy? " James quickly opens the door to see the person making a deal with him.

" Am being serious, James," Amanda said, making puppy eyes.

Hearing their deal, Mr. Derrick, who was just standing, couldn't hold it anymore. He knew how good James was when it comes to video games. He has been playing since he was four years old.

"Miss Amanda, don't get yourself sacked, young master is very good at video games," Mr. Derrick explained, feeling sorry for poor Amanda

" Really? Then we should do it, " Amanda said, walking into James' room.

" Then let's do it," James said, standing up to set up his video game.

" We will play downstairs, but before we do, you have to freshen up," Amanda said, making eye contact with him.

James wants to reject her proposal, but he sees it as a little sacrifice he has to make to send Amanda away once and for all.

After saying that to him Amanda moved to a door in the room which I assume was the bathroom, but it turned out to be a closet.

She couldn't help looking at it in awe, how could a kid's closet be this big. Clothes, shoes, and jewelry were all arranged neatly.

Amanda walked out of the room to join the butler and James in his room.

Amanda signaled the butler to let them go downstairs to allow him to have his bath.

" James, you have twenty minutes before I change my mind," Amanda said, smiling at him as the two walked away from the room.

Mr. Derrick was confused and didn't know what to do, he quickly called Eric to explain the situation to him, Eric was flabbergasted and he told the worried butler he believes in Amanda.

Amanda was talking to Josh the robot when James made his appearance not up to fifteen minutes.

" Hmmm, someone is eager to get rid of me! " Amanda exclaimed.

" Don't you dare go back on your word Miss? Amanda, butler Derrick is a witness, " James said, with wide eyes.

" Of course, I won't go back on my words, are you ready to go, ah ah, " Amanda laughed.

" Of course, I am," James said, taking two pads out.

" Pick anyone you like, I don't want it to look like cheating," James said, with a serious face.

" Thank you, young master James, " Amanda giggled.

All the servants have gathered in the living room, waiting to see who will win between James and Amanda.

The two took their seats and the butler walked to the big screen.

The game started and the two glued their eyes to the screen pressing the pad eagerly.

Eric, who was working on important files when the butler called, quickly navigated her laptop where he could see all that was happening in his mansion. Clicking on the mouse to get the camera that covers the living, he finally sees it and starts to watch what is happening. He saw how Amanda and James were interacting and he was happy.

James hardly associate's with anyone, not to talk of strangers, Eric sees how the house workers were supporting James, except for Butler Derrick and Mrs. Robinson who was supporting Amanda.

After a few minutes of playing, James was already leading with 3 goals, Eric started to get worried.

" Why will she make such a deal with James, she should have looked for a better way to talk to him or let me handle it, " Eric said to himself aloud.

But to his surprise, when the game was about to finish with less than five minutes, Amanda started scoring, and before he knew it the game was already at 6 to 4, with Amanda leading with two goals. The living room was filled with noise and the people who had been supporting James turned their support to Amanda, hailing her.

Eric finds himself laughing when he sees the look on James' face.

James dropped the pad and fixed his gaze on Amanda, shaking with Laughter. He could believe what just happened.

" Miss. Amanda, you are the first person to beat me in this game, do you know some tricks, maybe you can show me," James said as he winked at Amanda.

" Young master James, hope you don't forget our deal," Amanda said, as he stood up, walking toward James.

" Of course Miss. Amanda, I am a man of my word, I won't go back on them, but you have to show me those tricks you used on me" James explained to her.

" I will show you everything, you are my student after all.

"Come here, let's draft our timetable out" Amanda announced.

"Did she just win James' heart? How can she do that easily? She's gifted. Eric thought to himself, smiling brightly.
