Leilani

"Why the hell would I need a bodyguard?" I asked him.

That cocky bastard just smiled at me and shrugged. I wanted to throw him out, but Mason was six feet tall and covered in muscles. I couldn't move him an inch if he didn't want me to.

"Not my place to ask," he said. "Phoenix gave me orders and I'm following them."

I shook my head, completely mystified.

First, Mason shows up at my door early in the morning out of nowhere. I didn't even know he knew where I lived, but fine, that's no big deal. Then he starts talking dirty to me, sending chills of excitement up my spine. Truthfully, I loved it; I loved the way he spoke to me. It was forbidden and dirty and exciting, and I'd been waiting for Mason to say that sort of thing to me for a long time.

I'd always liked him. I watched him from afar, excited by his body, his cocky attitude, the way he seemed to effortlessly pull women into his life. But he was a player and a biker, and I knew better than to actually start to have feelings for a man like that. No, the only thing I wanted from him was his strong body pressed against mine.

But I'd never act on that, of course. He'd have hell to pay with Phoenix and the others. Still, couldn't hurt a girl to fantasize a little bit.

But there he was, starting to make some of my fantasy real.

Then this bodyguard bombshell. What the hell was going on this morning? Something was up with the club; that was clear. I knew all about the war, but Phoenix hadn't said a word to me last night about needing a bodyguard. This was new, and it was definitely seriously if he was sending Mason to take care of me.

"No way," I said. "Not happening. I'm calling my father."

He shrugged, leaning against the counter. "Do what you have to do, princess."

I glared at him but didn't have the strength to argue. I left the room and went to my bedroom, grabbing my cell phone. I heard Mason moving around out in the kitchen, pouring himself some coffee.

I dialed Phoenix's number, and he answered on the second ring.

"Phoenix," he grunted.

"What the hell are you up to, Dad?" I demanded.

He laughed. "Hi, Leilani. I was expecting this call."

"A bodyguard? What the hell?"

"Listen, it's for your own good. Mason is a decent guy and is good at what he does. Just ignore him."

"No," I said, surprised by my own anger. "Tell me why you have one of your guys following me around first."

"I will," he said. "I promise. Just not this second."

"Right this second," I said.

"After work," he answered. "You'll come to the clubhouse and I'll tell you everything."

"Dad," I warned, "I'm not going along with this if you can't give me something."

He paused. "Listen, Leilani," he said. "This is pretty serious. It's better if we talk in person."

"Am I in danger?"

"Not right this second, but I'm being careful."

I blinked. I had never been in danger before or really even close to it. Phoenix kept his club business far away from me, and I'd never once felt like I was in trouble.

This was completely new. I could hear the stress in his voice, and I'd seen it all over his face the night before. This war was a drag on him, drawing him down.

I took a deep breath and then let it out. "Okay," I said. "Fine. We'll talk later."

"Thanks," he said. "I'll explain everything."

"Yeah, well, you better."

"Bye. Have a good shift."

"Bye.'

I hung the phone up and tossed it onto the bed.

Whatever was happening must be pretty serious. If it was bad enough for him to put one of his best enforcers on me, he must have been really worried. And if he was worried, then I probably should've been, too

Except I wasn't. It just didn't really seem real to me, especially considering I didn't even know what was going on. Plus, Mason was a very competent man. I'd heard things about him, lots of things, some of them pretty downright terrifying. He wasn't the sort of person you messed with and expected to walk away from.

Which was what drew me toward him. Mason lived his life on his terms. I envied that freedom.

I wrapped a robe around myself and went out into the living room.

"Okay," I said to Mason. He was sitting on my couch, drinking coffee and watching the news on TV. "I talked to my dad."

"Good," he grunted. "How'd that go?"

"Sounds like you're sticking around."

He looked up at me and grinned. "Good deal. I can't wait to follow your pretty ass around all day."

"It's going to be boring," I warned. "You know that, right?"

He laughed. "Boring? Hell no. This is the best job I've ever been given. I get to stare at you all day long."

I felt myself starting to blush and quickly shook it off. "What would Phoenix think if he heard you saying that?"

"Go ahead," he said, his smirk getting bigger. "Tell on me."

"I might."

"You won't. You like it too damn much. I bet you're dripping wet over there just thinking about all the dirty things you can do with your new bodyguard."

I opened my mouth to say something cutting but stopped. I took a deep breath, reigning my anger in, and nodded. "I'm showering and getting dressed. Make yourself at home."

He looked back at the TV and kicked his feet up. "Already did."

I shook my head and walked back into my bedroom.

Mason was a dangerous man, for a lot of reasons. I needed to keep my head on straight if I was going to deal with him. I quickly walked into the bathroom and started the water, getting in.

I didn't know a whole lot about him. We'd been orbiting each other for years, had a few conversations, even opened up to each other once or twice. But really, for all this time and all the talking, I couldn't say I knew him at all. I couldn't say what he was thinking or what he wanted from all this. He was a loyal Demons member, one of the best really, but he kept to himself for the most part.

And what was my life going to be like with him around? I didn't want or need a babysitter. I was tolerating him today because Phoenix promised he'd explain everything later. But the idea of Mason following me around day and night for the foreseeable future did not bode well.

Especially considering I couldn't stop thinking about that cocky grin sitting just out in my living room. I was soaking wet, he was right. A single word and I was dripping for him, which only surprised the hell out of me. My body had never reacted to a man like that before, and suddenly he was able to set me off with just a look and a word.

It was bad, and I had no clue how much worse it was likely to get.

I finished showering, tossing a towel around myself. I stepped out and crossed the hallway, heading into my bedroom. I dropped the towel, pulled on a pair of panties, and started to put my bra on.

Then I heard his boots on the floor and looked over.

"Shit," he said. He looked surprised for a second as his eyes took in my body. I pressed my bra against my breasts, covering them. He quickly turned away.

"What the hell are you doing?" I said, quickly hooking my bra. My heart was pounding in my ears and excitement coursed through my blood.

"Thought this was the bathroom," he said.

"Across the hall. You know, the room with the toilet."

"You left the door open. I didn't know." He was looking away, but that devilish smile still played on his lips.

"If you're going to follow me around, you should get better with directions."

"Sorry about that, princess," he said. "Though I can't say I minded the show."

"Don't get used to it."

"Not sure I ever could get used to a body like that," he said. "You look like you're a new surprise every fucking day."

I shook my head. "You going to the bathroom or what?"

He just smirked, turned, and went into the bathroom, shutting the door behind him.

A chill ran down my spine as I finished getting dressed. Mason had been here for an hour and already he'd sent me spinning into the deepest levels of lust.

I was really going to have to be careful. I wasn't used to having someone around all the time, especially not someone like Mason.

He was a dangerous man, and my life wasn't used to danger.

LeilaniThat arrogant bastard.I was fuming as I got changed in the back room after work. Just ten minutes earlier, Mason had risked my job by stepping in and intimidating a patron, and if my manager ever heard about it, I was done.True, that guy was being a dick. There was no doubt about that. He was patiently telling me about how awful I was, and how he wasn't going to tip me at all. I did savor the look on his face as huge Mason, all covered in tattoos and wearing his Demons leather vest, came walking over to talk to him.But I didn't need rescuing. That asshole didn't have to step in and handle that guy for me, because I was handling him just fine. Not everyone got to act like a huge brute and throw their weight around. And yet part of me was totally thrilled by the whole thing. I savored that weak little asshole getting up and practically running away while Mason calmly smiled at him. I believed every word Mason had said when he threatened the guy, especially considering the thi

LeilaniI saw Mason sit down next to the old-timers and get a drink out of the corner of my eye as I knocked on my dad’s office door.“Who is it?” he called out.“It’s me,” I said.“Come in.”I pushed the door open. Dad was sitting with his legs up on the desk, smoking a cigar. It seemed like that was all he ever did, though I knew there was a lot more to it than just looking tough. He was constantly making deals, balancing books, dealing with crises. There was always work in a gang as large as the Demons.“Sit,” he grunted.I took a seat. “Okay,” I said. “Time to talk.”He frowned and took a big puff. “Can’t we just make some small talk first?”“No,” I said.“How was Mason?”“Dad?”“Come on, just for a minute.”I sighed. “Fine. Delay the inevitable.” I glanced at the wall. “Mason was good.”“Treated you well?”“As well as a guy like him can.”Dad raised an eyebrow. “Any problems?”I shook my head quickly. “No, not at all. Mason is great.”“Good,” he said. “I wasn’t sure about putting

MasonI had no clue what she talked about with Phoenix in there, but as soon as Leilani came out of the office, she was looking for trouble. She slammed back whisky after whisky. I watched her cautiously as the clubhouse began to fill up. I took it slow, knowing that I was still on the fucking clock and responsible for the girl.“So, what was that all about?” I finally asked her after she knocked back her fourth shot.“Don’t you worry about it, tough guy,” she said, smiling and drunk.“Not worried. Curious.”“I bet you’re curious.” She waved at TomTom and held up her glass. “You’re a real curious guy.”I grinned at her. “Must’ve been bad. Still pissed I have to follow you around?”Tom Tom brought her a drink and she leaned over the table, smiling at me. “Maybe. Maybe not. What do you think?”“I think you’re getting drunk because you don’t feel like dealing with the hard shit.”She raised an eyebrow and then laughed. “Pretty on point for a dumb biker.”“Careful there, princess,” I said

LeilaniI woke up, my head pounding and groggy. It took me a second to realize that I was lying on top of my comforter with a thin blanket spread over top me, my clothes still on.Then the events of the night came slowly back to me.I rolled over onto my back and groaned, putting my head in my hands. I was hungover as hell, and everything just seemed horrible in so many ways.I couldn’t believe I had gotten that wasted in front of Mason. He had practically carried me up to my room like the silly mess I was. That was probably the most disgraceful I’d acted in a really long time, and Mason probably had good reason to be annoyed with me.I groaned again as I remembered calling him a dog of the club. That was a pretty low blow, especially considering I was in the same position as him, more or less.We both grew up in the club, both owed our lives to it. It wasn’t fair to call him a dog, especially considering I was thinking about doing something as crazy as marrying a complete stranger fo

LeilaniWork dragged painfully slow.Like the day before, Mason sat in a booth and basically watched me. This time he read a book on and off, something about World War II, but he was still a little unnerving. It was hard to concentrate on my tables, and I made a few mistakes. Between Mason’s intense gaze and my own mind buzzing about the marriage thing, I wasn’t really sure what I was doing. And that was on my mind all day. Eight hours of waiting on tables, but really it was eight hours of going back and forth on the whole idea.Of course an arranged marriage was incredibly outdated and absurd, but in the MC world, stuff like that still happened every once in awhile to cement relationships, just like in the old days. Clubs were basically very conservative groups and sometimes did things that seemed hopelessly backward to other people. But I understood why this arranged marriage would be important. From Jetter’s perspective, letting his people patch over to the Demons was like signing

Still, there was nothing better than having an ass like Leilani’s rubbed up against your cock while you moved to the beat. And I could move with the best of them. The club was packed and loud. But Leilani was making the calls, and I was just following along. After work, I dropped her at her place, swung by my own to change into fresh clothes, and then picked her up. I want this sweet pussy.”“Shh,” I said. “You’ll wake Ryan up.”“I think you’re the one who needs to work on being quiet.” He pushed me back onto the bed, and I landed, giggling, as he pulled down my panties, tossing them aside. His lips found my neck, kissing me softly, his hands between my legs, working my soaked clit. “I think about this all fucking day long,” he said in my ear.“Me too,” I whispered. His lips moved down my neck and down my breasts. He dropped down onto his knees and spread my legs wide, his mouth pressed against my clit.Pleasure rocked through me as he began to suck my clit, licking me and eating me ferociously. Some won’t. We’ll work it out. But the important thing is, it’s over.”“To Jetter, may he rot in fucking hell,” she said. MasonAll eyes were on Leilani and Phoenix as he walked her down the aisle, which was exactly what we wanted. My heart was beating slowly in my chest as I snuck out of Phoenix’s office, heading to my right. I moved along the outskirts of the room, going wide around the Rebels, getting into position. For the past few days, we’d been planning for this. Everything we’d done had led to this moment, and the gamble we were about to make could go horribly wrong, but we were hoping the men in this room were smarter than we had given them credit for so far.I saw a few other men moving along the outskirts just like me, dressed in suits so as not to draw attention, but they had the same aim I did. I caught Dow’s eye, and he made some inane comment that got a laugh, but it was actually a code for Ford to keep his bullshit going a bit longer to let us get into position. Finally, I was back where I needed to be, and I nodded at Dow again. Noble made another stupid joke, which was the sign for Ford

LeilaniI thought time was supposed to drag when you were nervous. But when Mason knocked on the door again, it felt like he had just stepped out of the room.He opened the door. “Ready?”“Ready,” Caralee said.He looked at me. “I’ll be with you.”“I know.”I walked forward, taking a deep breath, and stepped out the door, Caralee in tow.“Caralee, you go first with Burke. Phoenix will walk Leilani down the aisle.” Caralee nodded. We moved down the back hallway and stopped near Phoenix’s office door. It was open, and inside were Burke and Phoenix, both looking uncomfortable in their suits.“Hello, boys,” I said, stepping inside.“Wow,” Phoenix said. “Honey, you look beautiful.”“Thanks, Dad.” He took my hand and squeezed it, smiling.Caralee stood next to Burke. They just nodded to each other without speaking. Burke had been in a bad mood all day long, probably because his plan had fallen apart. At least his plan to kill me and take over the club. The wedding was probably never meant t

LeilaniI stared at myself in the mirror, the veil pushed up over my hair, and couldn’t help but laugh. My wedding day. I never really thought this day would come, despite everything we’d gone through to get here. I wanted it to happen if at least to help save the club that had raised and protected me.“You look amazing,” Caralee said. “Seriously. If I were a guy, I’d have such a big boner right now.”I looked at her and laughed. “A big boner?”“Yeah, you know, a stiffy.”I shook my head. “Hard cock, Caralee.”“Whatever. You make me hard.”I laughed again and looked back in the mirror. “Yeah. I clean up okay.”“Okay? Shit. Better than okay.”I had to admit that I did look pretty damn good in my dress. All white with small black accents, it was the perfect biker wedding dress. It was tight along the top, making my boobs look enormous and amazing, and spread out loosely in ribbons of tulle and satin bows.“You look way better than I did on my wedding day,” Caralee said.“Well that’s not

MasonWe followed Phoenix back down the hall and into the weapons locker. It was a pretty big room, about the size of a one-car garage. It was soundproof and full of weapons hanging on the walls in racks, plus ammunition and bulletproof vests.Noble was leaning against a rack, absently picking at his nails. The Rebel was awake and looking around, clearly a bit groggy.I shut the door and locked it.“Well, Leeroy,” Phoenix said, “you’ve made a fucking mess.”“Where am I?” he asked, slurring his words.“You’re in a locked, soundproof room,” Phoenix said, “surrounded by men who want to do you harm.”He slowly seemed to wake up a bit, looking around. “Ah, shit,” he said.“That’s right,” Phoenix said. “Shit.”“What do you want from me? Just fuckin’ kill me if you’re gonna.”“We want answers first,” I said, stepping toward him. “You can save yourself a lot of pain if you tell us what we want to know.”“Why bother?” he asked. “You’ll just kill me anyway.”“Maybe, but we might let you live if

MasonAfter my fucking face got stitched up, Dow came back with a truck. We helped pile the dead body into it, and he headed out to dump the thing out in the desert where it would never be found.Meanwhile, Noble shoved the Rebel into the back of their van. He got into the driver’s seat and rolled down the window. “Meet me at the club,” he said. “I’ll send some guys back for my bike.”“Got it.” He pulled out and I got onto my own bike, kicking it to life.My fucking face was aching, but I was too angry to feel it. This whole thing had gotten fucked faster than I could have imagined, and yet Leilani still thought she was really going through with this marriage.Truth was, after this little fucking stunt, that marriage was done. I didn’t know what Phoenix was thinking, but a direct attempt on his daughter’s life by the club he was trying to patch over basically meant the deal had to be off.But we still had questions, lots of fucking questions. Fortunately for us, we had someone to ask.

The man fell back but wasn’t knocked out. He groaned.“You fucking cunt. Don’t look at her,” he said.“You don’t get it,” the man said. “You really don’t get it.”“Explain it to me then,” Mason said, pressing the gun against his skull.“It’s all over. At least he wasn’t actively bleeding anymore.Work crawled along like usual, especially considering it was a late shift. I hated doing the dinner rush and then getting some of the drunk idiots that came in late. I got off at one in the morning, and poor Mason was stuck sitting in a booth for eight hours doing absolutely nothing. Not that he complained. He ate dinner, and then he ate a second dinner a few hours later. I tried not to stare at him too much or spend too much time at his table, but it was hard. The anger had long since faded, and that anger was replaced with this gnawing need. Not to mention guilt. I hadn’t told him about the wedding getting moved up yet, because I was afraid of how he’d react.I didn’t want to hurt him. Actually, I didn’t know if I could hurt him. Sure, we were fucking, and
