The bodies of the dead fighters lying all over the place was fair warning, and no one dared. Even the Guard did not so much as stir where they stood. “I must say... SEVEN YEARS LATER...A fire was burning in the hearth, licking up the logs and waiting to be fed some more as it threw orange light and shadows around the room, and even more importantly, filled it with warmth. Jayden sat with a skin blanket wrapped around him despite the fire, as flakes of snow fell outside the house, forming an icy cover over the ground that glowed white in the moonlight.
