A quest for a wife

Titled: A quest for a wife.

"Wake up "

I jolt out of my little nap and cleaned my eyes. I stared at the two piercing eyes of the young man. With a huff, I grabbed my bag and got out of the car. The drive to the bike store was so boring that i fell asleep.

Now, I was standing in front of a mansion.

"Where am I?"

I asked, confused. This was neither the bike store or did he perhaps take me to his house?.

"Where am I ?" I repeated running my hands over my neck.

He did not answer immediately, he rolled his eyes and knocked on the gate. An older man who I presumed was the gateman opened the gate.

"Good evening, sir"

He greeted.

"Would you open the gate for me? What have you been doing?"

He sounded so rude and he was yelling. I heaved a sigh and got back into the car.

If it's to take the day's off, I would, for that bike.

He entered the car and drove into the mansion. The mansion was exclusively magnificent. 

I opened the car and we walked in together into the mansion. Wow.... 

"Welcome home, son"

A young beautiful woman approached us and kissed him on the cheek. She looked at me and then back at her son.

"Good day, ma'am" I greeted timidly.

"Who's she?, Rowan" She asked him ignoring my greeting and running her eyes over me.

"Someone unimportant"

He replied grumpily and walked over to the sofa infront of us.

"Really?"

I rolled my eyes.

"Mom, just get straight to the point, why did you call me?"

"Yeah. Son"

She started and walked over to him. She sat down beside him and held his right shoulder.

"I need a grandchild" she stated briefly. He removed her hand from his shoulder.

"Just get straight to the point" He yelled.

"I said, i need a grandchild. And i don't care how you do it, I want a grandchild" I don't know if i'm supposed to listen to this conversation.

"I could just have a baby mama and..."

"You dare not. I want a wife. Someone to call my son's wife" She interrupts angrily.

"It won't work. I mean i can't get married. This has always been the reason you called me home"

He said standing up.

"Why don't you get one?,is it Anna?. " she asked. There was silence.

He stared angrily at his mom. 

I was enjoying the drama between the mother and her son. Well, rich people have the biggest problem in the world.

He shuddered and look into his mom's eyes.

Whatever they had,is their fucking business. I just need my bike.

"Don't...don't ever mom, mention her name in my presence"

He warned sternly.

I thought as much. I turned around and walked outside. I waited for a long time outside before seeing him walk out in anger. I followed him.

"Why are you following me?" He yelled again.

"Hey, don't you dare yell out like that. I want you to acknowledge some respect." His eyes narrowed.

"What?"

"Well, we had a deal"

I gulped down and looked away.

"I sent you enough money to your bank account. Don't follow me"

He got into his car and drove towards the gate.

How?, how did he get my account number?...

~Next day~

"What's your plan?, Aubrey"

Isla asked after I narrated to her my encounter with the rich dude.

I was overwhelmed after withdrawing the cash I had on my account. I counted out my savings and the money for bike, then took the remaining money home.

"I'll return the money"I finally replied.

"A nice decision. What if he refuses to take the money?" She asked.

"I'll drop it infront of him and leave"

she shook her head. 

"How do you get him?"

She questioned and silence fell into the room. "I don't know the address to the estate. We might get lucky to identify his house."

"But the mansions at the estate looks alike. I don't want to walk under the sun and come back without results." She stated and grabbed her phone.

"I don't know anything about him apart from his name"

I mumbled quietly.

"What's his name?"

"Rowan"

"Rowan Adam?"

She asked.

"I don't know." She laughed.

"What's funny?"

"Impossible" She sprang up to her feet instantly.

"Why are you acting strange?" 

"Rowan Adam is a business tycoon. He runs so many businesses and has a lot of companies"She replied and I rolled my eyes.

"Anyone can go by the name." I told her and looked away. There was silence. Rowan Adam is a very popular dude. He has assets and companies under his name. The Adams family were very rich, i've not met any of his family member but many had because Mrs Adam runs a charity home. 

My classmates talks about Rowan all the time so i've heard little about him from them.

"Look, is he the one?" She asked showing me a picture on her phone.

"Exactly. This is the handsome jerk"

I answered taking the phone away from her.

"Is he the Rowan you've been crushing on?" I was bewildered.

"Yes. Wait, did you talked with him?, what's he like?"

Isla smiled.

I rolled my eyes and returned the phone.

" I hope you know the location to his office because we're going there together before mom comes back" I finally told her and checked my time. It was past 12 in the afternoon. I looked at the giggling Isla and scoffed. Always drooling on men. I don't know what she saw in them.

"I'm gonna see Rowan Adam today, yeee"

She chatted happily. I shook my head sadly. If only she knows how rude he is.

~Mrs Adam~

I banged into his office and walk over to a seat opposite him.

He stared at me for awhile and looked away.

"You can't just bang into my office,Mom " He grumpily said.

"I do what i want, Rowan"

"What do you want?"

"Good question. We discussed something yesterday and since then, you've not been picking my calls"

"You don't expect me to do that, do you?"

"I......." The door opened shutting me up.

His secretary walked in.

"Sir, a lady is here to see you" The secretary said.

"Bring her in"

He ordered glaring at me. I glared back at him and he looked away.

"You"

I turned back to see who he was referring to. 

A very beautiful young girl stood as they looked deadly at each other.

"Yeah, I came back since you intruded my privacy without letting me know"

The lady answered.

I wonder what was going on between them.

It's very rare to see Rowan with a woman.

"I gave you enough money"

"Yeah, without my permission"

She told him and walked more closer to us. She looked at me and smiled. I smiled back and watched Rowan closely. He bit his lip and ruffled his hair.

"I brought back your money, i'm not some gold digger. We don't beg on the streets, and we cater very well for ourselves."She carried the bag from the other girl and dropped it on her table.

"But i didn't say you were a gold digger"

She scoffed.

"I don't wanna see someone like you ever in my life. Punk.."

She left drawing her friend with her.

"Wow..." I couldn't help but muttered loudly.

"Mom, she's mad" Seeing that i wasn't giving any comment, he said.

" I can't fulfill your promise to get you a wife. If you want to make me get a wife, fine. Find a lady and I will marry her for you."My eyes beamed when he said that.

"Don't worry. I've found your match". I said ...smiling..
