Hearing that conversation caused Seraphine to fall into contemplation. The content was enough to ensure the relationship between Kayden and ‘Seraphine’ wasn’t that strong.

One thing was clear that ‘Seraphine’ held feelings towards Kayden and wanted to be with him. As for Kayden, he was pushing the girl away.

There could be various reasons behind it. One being that Kayden didn’t harbor similar feelings towards the girls and acted harsh in order to provide the ‘Seraphine’ no hope.

This seemed most plausible since despite of his attitude, his care for ‘Seraphine’ was visible by how he was worried for her health, allowed her to stay here, and wanted ‘Seraphine’ to be with a decent man.

But as ‘Seraphine’ implied, Kayden would in a denial phase, having a hard time accepting his feelings, or for a reason didn’t want to act upon these emotions.
