She had no idea on how long had passed as she slept. Waking up, Seraphine stretched her arms, feeling hungry. Because of how aggravated she had been, she placed the thoughts of her hunger at the back of her mind, and now, after significantly calming down, she badly craved to eat something in order to settle the turmoil in her stomach.
Getting down from the bed, she washed up prior to getting out of the room and looking outside, she wondered whether or not Clayton was in the mansion.
She was in the dilemma on what to eat. Never was she required to cook after coming to this era, and it didn’t appear that Clayton’s mansion employed workers.
Sighing, she decided to check the kitchen and to see what she could do.
Getting down the stairs, she decided to call around in order to check whether or not Clayton was at home. But before she was able to do that, a voice entered her ear, causing her to jump in her position.
“You must be hungry.&r
His words elicited laughter from Seraphine whole she commented, “As expected from the only person who didn’t scold me for getting in trouble.”This caused Noah to laugh along as well.“I should have said this sooner, but I am sorry. This all wouldn’t have happened if I have kept a closer eye on you,” he stated— his voice filled with remorse.Seraphine shook her head and pointed out, “You can’t be blamed. This is my fate to have this life full of problems. On the bright side, at least I got to skip academy. Ah! All those studying would have sucked the life out of me.”Noah merely shook his head at her antics.“By the way, what is up with you and my brother? Why are you two in the North? Even if you don’t have to be a personal knight, shouldn’t you have chosen another, more comfortable position?”Seraphine raised her eyebrow, expressing the curiosity she held w
“What about Lew then? Where did you take him?” Seraphine questioned, raising one of her eyebrows. If what she was guessing was right, it meant that Clayton was the one responsible for the disappearance of that clingy magic beast.“Lew? What’s that?” he inquired, looking visibly confused. At that, Seraphine explained, “The magic beast I had with me. You took him, right?”“What do you mean? Why will I take him away? Magic beasts aren’t known to stay with humans, and they often leave their sides. This is normal. You barely knew him for a day more so. And, Seraphine, magic beasts shouldn’t be treated as pets. They are dangerous, no matter how harmless they appear.”Seraphine wore a frown on her face while facing her brother and pointed out, “You are lying. Just be honest, alright? Kayden already gave away enough for me to be suspicious of you.”This made Clayton sigh and expr
By now, Seraphine was starting to get tipsy and feel dizzy, losing control over her coordination to a certain extent. This was due to the drugs mixed into the air. Strangely enough, it made her feel liberated and gave the strength to do whatever she wanted.Right now, after winning multiple rounds of card games— this being due to both her luck and skills— and few other games here and there, the girl felt quite smug. Sitting on the couch, she raised her legs over the table and wore a conceited look on her face while she looked at them.On her sides were two women trying to warm up to her. In midst of her hazy state, she did entertain women just to get a rile out of the men here, and maybe her continuous winning streak gathered a lot of women to her side, wanting to brush up her favor.Certainly her looks were a factor. She was a breath of fresh air amongst these greasy men having a foul breath.Laughing arrogantly, Seraphine stood up and condes
Guilt rose inside of her, knowing this condition of his was her fault. If she wasn’t this adamant on creating trouble, this wouldn’t have happened. If Kayden didn’t go to search for her, this wouldn’t be the result. He would be nicely be able to recover at his place.Knowing that this wasn’t the time to admonish herself, Seraphine removed Kayden’s grip off of her clothing before getting down from the bed and hurrying to find some help.°°°tingHer nails dug into her hand she watched Eugene check up on Kayden. Due to the courtesy of Eugene, Kayden wasn’t groaning or sweating due to pain anymore. He seemed to have calmed down as he silently laid on the bed.And anxiety gnawed at the pits of her stomach when she noticed that frown on Eugene’s face. For his expression to shift to this extent, it meant the case was serious. This caused Seraphine’s features to
“His condition is really bad.”Hearing that voice didn’t startle her that much. By now, she was used to people popping up suddenly around her, and the owner of that voice did that often. Turning back, she looked at Elliot. He appeared the same as he did four years before.“You don’t age, do you?” Seraphine questioned. Although the concept of immortality was strange, since magic was already present in this world, this was highly possible as well.“Bringing up my age triggers me,” he stated, “I was cursed to be at this state. I will spare you since you are already this distressed.”Seraphine scoffed at him and didn’t start a squabble while she questioned, “What are you doing?”“Just wanted to check up on him since he had been quiet for days. Didn’t expect to see him in this state, but I am not surprised. Everything he did for the past few years caught up to him.
“It’s the result of the malpractice,” Elliot voiced out.“Malpractice?” Seraphine waited for the man to elaborate on the topic further.“Yes, your disappearance led him to understand that physical strength and swordsmanship wouldn’t be enough if you were to find him. That’s why, he turned to sorcery. However, in order to grow skilled in a short period of time, the regular way wasn’t an option for Kayden no matter how high affinity he had with magic. He had to turned to unorthodox methods which had been forbidden for ages. The reason no one practiced them anymore was because how life-threatening they are. It’s not even assured that even I would come out of it time. Nonetheless, testing his luck, he tried them out. Desperation drove him to, leaving him with no other options.”Seraphine’s eyes widened at that. Because she considered Kayden to be a villain with cheats, she believed it wou
While Eugene set up a date to have the talk with her brothers, Seraphine was busy researching on Xylait. Since Kayden barged in on her own privacy, she thought it would be only fair of her to do the same. That’s why, she stepped into Kayden’s office and began to go through all the documents present there. She was not even the slightest amount of apologetic for doing so. His office was filled with information on this matter, and Seraphine got learn of more of details, leading her to understand how frightening can the puppets even be.Not only these puppets have abilities, they are able to monitor people, acting as spies, and send back that information to their master. Because of how these puppets mingled well with the human, all of this would go unsuspecting. However, if one had a strong willpower, they would be able to resist the control, and only a high level mage would be able to be master. Moreover, these mages need to have strong mentality or els
Seraphine held the trunk of tree and tried to regain her breathing. That name Aeryes— she heard it before. It was that time when she saw that magical beast during auction. Seraphine couldn’t comprehend what connection it would have with her possibly.Just what was the gap she wasn’t able to sort out? Maybe she was really close to the answer. The truth was at the tip of her tongue, but she wasn’t able to exactly figure it out. Only a questions of her needed to be answered before she added everything up, making a sense out of the conclusion she reached. Her knees gave out, and exhausted from running around, she breathed heavily, leaning against the tree trunk. Staring at the surroundings, she could see that she was at the unfamiliar, deserted part of the town. Back then, she didn’t pay much attention to where her feet led her in midst of panic.Even her sword was left behind. Looking around, she wasn’t exactly able to recognize
