Chapter 4 - Business Relationship

Judging by their closeness, Mr Robertson is satisfied that he has 'accurately' guessed their relationship.

However, as soon as Javier Zhong heard what she said, he gritted his teeth in anger!

He did not know Stephanie Ruan's motive for coming close to him but yet at the same time, it is not ideal to create a big scene in front of his new business partner.

"Certainly, we will be there."

Well, isn't it just attending an event? How difficult could it be??

In the worst-case scenario, if she refuses to come, he would just get Isaac Wen to tie her up and drag her to the event with him.

After all, a promise has already been made and he is one who never breaks his promises.

When Stephanie Ruan heard his quick and decisive reply, she could not help but let out a light smirk.

To be able to reach this stage of development with Javier Zhong could already be considered as 'mission accomplished' for her.

"That's great, I will see you both around soon!" Mr Robertson beamed with delight as he exited the room with his subordinates.

The minute the door slammed shut, Stephanie Ruan instantly returned to her cold expression and removed her arm from Javier Zhong.

She then took a seat with her legs crossed elegantly.

Without waiting for her to speak first, Javier Zhong immediately interrogated her with a fierce tone. "What is it that you want?"

"Chairman Zhong, I really like how you are jumping straight to the point and I'm glad to know that I've found the right person. Don't worry, I don't have time to waste as well."

She stood up and took five steps towards him. The distance between the two of them is just right, about 3 meters apart.

It seemed as though both of them have a common understanding and no one wanted to move any closer to the other person.

After staring at each other for a few long seconds, she finally broke the silence. "I want to be your fiancé."

"!!!..."

Everyone looked at Stephanie Ruan with a shocked expression. Even Mia Xue who is standing behind her is also caught off guard. "That... Director Ruan..."

Isaac Wen widened his eyes and stared blankly at her. He could not help but dart his eyes back and forth between the two of them while trying to get hold of the current situation.

What... is going on here??... But hold on, something is wrong!!...

There are so many girls out there who would sacrifice everything just to marry his young master.

And over the years, he had witnessed so many of them trying different methods just to desperately gain a few seconds of Javier Zhong's attention.

Of course, none of them were successful at melting his ice-cold heart. In fact, all of them were ruthlessly thrown out of his sight.

But as for this lady... Isaac Wen truly could not believe what he has seen and heard today.

It was one thing to ask such a direct question and another to ask it with such an indifferent and unwilling look.

She is definitely the first person to do this and what's more, she has successfully captured Javier Zhong's attention!

On the other hand, Javier Zhong arrogantly raised his eyebrows and sneered coldly at her request. "Fiancé? What makes you think I will agree to it?"

Unlike the other girls, Stephanie Ruan did not take the bait and is not frightened by his tone of voice at all.

Without a care in the world, she casually put on her sunglasses while responding to him. "Just like how I've helped you to clinch this deal, I could also destroy it easily."

"The event is happening this Saturday. I will give you two days to think about it." She then turned to her side and gave a slight nod, which prompted Mia Xue to step forward and pass Isaac Wen a name card.

But before they could even exit the room, Javier Zhong's threatening voice sounded out to them. "Barging into someone else's room and disrupting an important business negotiation, I've yet to settle this with you."

"Send the guards here! The two of them are not allowed to leave this building until I've permitted them to do so!"

After he ordered Isaac Wen, he sat down on the sofa nearby and started perusing some documents, as though he had forgotten about the presence of the two people in front of him.

"Hey! What do you mean by this?!" Mia Xue stepped forward angrily and confronted Javier Zhong about it.

What's the situation now? Is he trying to hold them captive?!

She truly felt that her boss should not have helped such an unappreciative man like him!

If not for Stephanie Ruan holding her back, Mia Xue would have already dashed forward and impulsively grabbed onto his hair!

Meanwhile, Stephanie Ruan is completely unaffected by what he had said. It was as though she had long expected such a scene to happen.

In a calm and composed manner, she strolled across the room to where he is seated and sat on the other sofa opposite of him.

"Chairman Zhong, although the contract has been signed today, you should know that nothing is ever confirmed until the stores are officially up."

"This is an important project for Zhong Holdings and I'm capable of handling this business deal for you. But I wonder if you are even capable of giving me what I want?" She questioned him in a tone that was neither humble nor arrogant.

Hearing what she had said, Javier Zhong remained indifferent as he tidied up the documents in his hands. He threw them lightly on the coffee table in front of him before glaring at her directly in the eyes.

"Fiancé? Are you so desperate to marry me?" He mocked her without batting an eyelid.

With a cold smile, Stephanie Ruan leaned slightly forward, while still locking her eyes at him.

"Marry you? I'd suggest you not to be too self-absorbed. I'm not interested in you. What I'm asking for is purely a business relationship and nothing more than that." 

As though he had just received a tight slap on his face, Javier Zhong's expression froze for a moment.

No one has ever dared to say such words to him before and he could hardly believe what he has just heard!

What??... She does not like him?!

Honestly, he is too used to women praising and fawning over him that he could not accept her harsh, yet truthful remarks at all!

Not aware of what he is thinking about, she paused for a brief moment, before adding on with a questioning look. "In that case, are you still interested in this offer, Chairman Zhong?"
