Everest Leon approached Taggart, who looked anxious after leaving his father's bedroom. Taggart shook his head as if Bruce were rejecting his attempt to cancel the dinner.
"How about this? If you keep doing the dinner, you will take your father's proposed mate, sir," said Everest, expressing his worry. Taggart walked closer to the railing on the balcony of the top floor. He could see some guests had arrived from above. Everest also looked down, although he then turned his gaze back to Taggart.
"I've got no choice tonight, Everest. I may think another way to run.” Taggart then glimpsed at Everest, who gave the nod. Taggart turned around, and Everest followed him. He would go downstairs to meet the guests, as his father insisted.
Meanwhile, Pearl had just arrived at the main lobby. She walked out of her car along with her parents. She was surprised to see some people also coming. She scowled, assuming that she was the only one attending the dinner. Pearl then got closer to her father and half-whispered.
“I think we have a lot of competition, Dad.”
Pearl's words suddenly made Sandra glare at her. Pearl put on an innocent look as if she said nothing. Sandra glared back at John, who looked shocked.
"How about this? Why are so many people coming? I thought they were waiting for us," Sandra hissed and quipped at John. John turned to his wife and then took a deep sigh. He shook his head, not knowing about the Taggarts' plan.
"I don't know about this. They just asked us to come," said John, defending himself.
Behind, Pearl hid her smile. She now prayed inside that she could escape from the arranged marriage as soon as possible. If there were many prettier options, wouldn't her chances of surviving the dinner be greater?
"Let's get inside!" Pearl nodded at Sandra. She was more enthusiastic because she already had a plan. Pearl has no interest in playing matchmaker at the dinner ball. That's why she planned not to stand out and show herself off.
“Ah, we could lose to them. Pearl!” Sandra pulled Pearl forward after they entered the main room. Pearl gasped in surprise, then was shocked to see the mansion's main living room. Sandra and the other guests felt the same way. They gathered in the middle of a Victorian-style room reminiscent of a medieval palace.
Classical music, with a mini orchestra playing beautiful songs, greets guests. Pearl feels like she has been thrown into a century far from her age.
"Am I still on earth?" she muttered, amazed by the house. There is no scary impression in the mansion. Despite Pearl's initial perception of the Kellent family as arrogant and haughty,
The walls were adorned with expensive paintings and statues of high artistic value, and the interior of the room was luxurious, a sight that made all the guests gasp and amazed.
"You are too lucky to have a wealthy future husband like him. Look at this place. I can't imagine how big this house is. They are indeed a real tycoon," said Sandra, amazed by the room.
Pearl turned to Sandra with concern. Sandra was dazzled by the wealth in front of her, while Pearl was busy thinking about her fate. On the other hand, she didn't want her future husband to recognize her. Instead, it would be better if he chose someone else.
Shortly after, a handsome man came down the main stairs into the room. The man smiled kindly. He has a neat appearance and is attractive. He is also handsome and similar to sexy men from Latin America, and he has perfect sculpture and posture.
“Welcome, guests. Tonight, I want to introduce my son to you at the dinner ball," said Bruce Kellent, starting with a friendly smile like a good host.
Some girls smiled broadly to see a handsome, wealthy man as their next father-in-law. His son must be much more attractive. Meanwhile, Taggart was not yet ready to step down. He was still looking from the top floor. Bruce turned to the side and asked one of his guards to come closer.
“Ask Taggart to come to the dining room now. Don't let him escape," Bruce whispered to his bodyguard. The guard nodded in understanding and left not long after. Bruce turned back to his guests with a big smile.
“We'd better gather in the dining room and wait for Taggart.” Bruce invited his guests to join him.
Taggart was about to go downstairs, but he stopped at the end of the stairs. His brow furrowed when he saw a girl being pulled by her mother. He couldn't see the girl's face.
"Sir?" Everest rebuked. He looked down, too, but he didn't understand what was happening.
"What is it?" Everest became curious.
"Come on!" Taggart was even more excited to go downstairs immediately. Everest ran down, following Taggart, who was acting strangely. Moreover, two minutes ago, he wanted to run away, but now he was walking quickly into the dining room, following the guests.
"Sir, what's wrong?" Everest couldn't keep his mouth shut to ask. He felt like Taggart was chasing something.
Taggart strolled with his eyes, looking for the girl he'd seen earlier. Bruce had a glimpse of his son coming, then spoke in a louder pitch.
"Attention, please." Taggart stopped and glanced at his father. His eyes widened when Bruce introduced himself and caught everyone's attention.
"Let me introduce to you all. That is my son, Taggart Kellent.” Bruce stretched out one hand to point at Taggart. Now, all eyes were on Taggart except Pearl. Pearl looked down because she was busy typing something on her cell phone.
Pearl is chatting with her older brother, Keith, about picking her up. Briana is also in the same chat room, planning to escape from the dinner. So, while all the guests' eyes are fixed on and admire the prince, Pearl doesn't see him.
John then looked back and found Pearl quietly typing on her cell phone. He quietly rebuked.
"What are you doing?"
Pearl gasped and instantly put on a pleading, innocent expression toward her father. Thus, Sandra glared at her. Luckily, Pearl quickly hid her cell phone behind her back."Nothing, Dad. I just," Pearl paused and thought quickly. Her eyes rolled, looking for an acceptable reason to elude."Oh, look at this exquisite carpet. I'm looking at it," said Pearl, continuing her reason. She grinned widely, trying to hide the anxiousness."What for?" Sandra held back a grunt of annoyance at Pearl, who was acting strangely."I'm an interior designer, Mom. Of course, I have to pay attention to the carpet design. Hmm?" Sandra frowned, not liking her excuse. Quickly, she grabbed Pearl's arm to force her to shove her forward. Sandra also cleared her throat to allow John to speak. John then stepped closer and whispered a little to Pearl."Pearl, he is your future husband. His name is Taggart Kellent," said John, introducing Pearl to the man standing not far before her.Pearl glanced at Taggart, who w
Matthew Bronckhorst and his son Damian barged into the Kellent’s dining room. Matthew is Bruce Kellent's close cousin. Taggart's cousin Damian also came along with his father.Matthew spread his arms and smiled as he exclaimed, 'How could you begin the dinner party without me, dear cousin?" Likewise, Damian slipped a cynical smirk. He glanced at Taggart, who stood up from his chair. Their gazes met, and Taggart stared coldly at him."Matthew, what did you come here for?" Bruce came out of his place and approached Matthew with a displeasure look. Matthew scoffed with a slight chuckle. He displayed an attitude that didn't challenge Bruce as the host."I came for the dinner.""No one asked you. Why did you come to my house?" Bruce stared sharply at Matthew. He didn't want to give his cousin any chance. He knew that Matthew intended to ruin the occasion."Ah, you are too sensitive, brother. You should invite me too so I can participate in choosing a future daughter-in-law for Damian." Mat
Pearl felt like a meteor had hit her head. She couldn't believe the man who looked like someone in her nightmare was now her future husband. Other guests who felt better than Pearl are now mockingly whispering about her. Meanwhile, Pearl shook her head, not wanting to take the situation."Oh, of course she will take it," Sandra instantly agreed, as if Pearl had said something to decide. Pearl whirled to her stepmother, wanting to open her mouth to speak. She couldn't believe that her stepmother had sold her out so quickly."Then, after dinner, we'll talk about it," Bruce said, revealing his decision. Pearl wanted to protest, but there was no one to help her. Why does everything get even more complicated?Damian looked at the beautiful Pearl from his side to catch her attention. The girl had something that made Damian think about getting rid of Taggart faster. She was indeed an attractive human."We can't allow this," Matthew growled in annoyance. He grumbled softly next to Damian, who
"Stay away from her!" Taggart warned Damian when he made such a simple introduction to attract Pearl. Pearl glanced at Taggart, then back at Damian. Damian stared haughtily at the furious Taggart. The madness shows its best in Taggart's responses about Damian. He doesn't like competition."None of your business. I'm talking to Miss Pearl." Damian confronted Taggart to fight back."She doesn't know you!" Taggart raised his pitch even more. It felt like he wanted to choke Damian, who had ruined his dinner ball."I'm sorry, Sir, I have to go home," Pearl said bravely. She didn't want to be in that mansion anymore. Fear crept into her mind after learning the truth about the dinner's purpose."Dad, help me," Pearl whispered to her father. The look on her face was anxious and afraid. Sandra instantly interrupted and glared at her act."Hey, don't be such a baby! You can't just leave." Sandra glared at Pearl. Pearl only glanced at her, then begged John ag
"Dad, I don't want to get married! I want to continue my career at Excellor." Pearl persisted in begging while whining a hundred times. She would never give up to tell how she felt. Since returning from the Kellent, Pearl was increasingly uneasy. She would do anything to negotiate or beg, even if she had to cry. Everything she fought for all this time was in vain because of that arranged marriage. After all, she dislikes Taggart Kellent."Be quiet, Pearl. Don't keep whining. We will not change any decisions. Taggart Kellent will be your fiancé, and you will marry him." Sandra directly scolded rebelled Pearl."But Mom, I'm still young. I just turned 21 last month. How could you bury my future like that? I can't do that." Pearl was on the verge of crying as she desperately explained the situation to Sandra. Sandra sat in the front passenger seat. Thus, she was so annoyed with Pearl that she turned back to scold her."Why not? You have to wait and sit back a
John saved his baby girl, Pearl, from Sandra today. He took his daughter out of the house by taking her to the Excellor early in the morning. He needs to talk to her about so many things."Thank you, Daddy." Pearl smiled slightly, then threw her sight back to the outside window. John prepared for his driving. He glimpsed at her and felt guilt built inside him. He must take careful words, too."Did you sleep well last night, sweetheart?" John asked with a soothing tone. Pearl put down her head and then shook it."I can't sleep last night, Dad." John nodded understandingly."I'm sorry, Dear. I'm not a good father for you." Pearl glanced at John. She stared at him quietly."I'm so hurt if you are not happy with your life. It's just that it took me so much time to think about it." John was trying to speak from his heart. He clutched his heart to do the match-making wedding to his daughter. Even Pearl was not his own."Why did you do this, Dad? I don't want to get married now." Pearl's voi
Pearl couldn't concentrate once she sat on her chair. Her pre-design should have been submitted before this noon, yet she did nothing but stare at the computer screen on her table. The manager has assigned Pearl to submit her pre-design starting today. She would learn and practice directly in her field."Pearl, what are you doing? Why are you staring at the screen?" a colleague jolted Pearl, who had drifted off to something other than work. Pearl smiled awkwardly and then shook her head."You'd better work now. If the managers see you like this, they will fire you soon, " the colleague said more harshly to Pearl. Pearl sighed, not wanting to respond. Suddenly, the manager came to the intern room to announce something."I want all of you to gather at the convention hall in the north building. It's CEO calls. Come on!" The manager quickly sent all the interns to the hall and asked Pearl to get out. Pearl didn't want to protest or say anything, so she walked along with other staff to the
First, Damian researches Pearl. Once he has identified the right target to stop Taggart from taking his crown as an Alpha, Damian begins his mission. Now, he needs to win Pearl's heart successfully. Nevertheless, Damian asks someone to come to his office. He will not give up at all.Damian asked one of his friends, "I want you to devise a proper plan to get Pearl Rosenthal's attention. I want her to see me have much better value than Taggart Kellent." The friend's name is Alonzo Perez. Alonzo has a mixture of fairy clans that came from his mother."Why do you have to take an ordinary girl like her? Pearl Rosenthal was not a popular girl in school." Alonzo shrugged his shoulders and responded calmly. His lack of enthusiasm stemmed from his expectation of a formidable challenge. Who would have thought that Damian meant a girl like Pearl Rosenthal?"Do you know her, don't you?" Damian inquired, looking sharply at Alonzo. Alonzo just shrugged his shoulders nonchalan
Today, Pearl's department has a new manager to come. He was a handsome man with a warm smile upon everyone."Hi, everyone. I am Luke Damant. I am happy to see you are all here to support the design department. I hope we can stay as a strong team in the future," said Luke, introducing himself as a new manager. Like everyone else, Pearl clapped and smiled at him. Luke looked charismatic and appealing. His appearance has impressed the women's staff, including interns. They looked interested in him."I would like to see the interns first. Would you all come with me to my office?" Luke smiled at all the staff without seeing Pearl. He walked to his office in the side room and opened the door widely to the interns who followed. Pearl was the last one who came in."Thank you for all your attention towards the work recently. I am confident you will have a successful time during your internship program. Starting today, I will be your supervisor and your boss. Any question
Simon Rousey had his breakfast meeting with Bruce Kellent for his business. He wanted to discuss Taggart's mate's choice more. The business deal had gone well before; now, it's time for him to discuss personal matters."Bruce, I heard some elders talk about your next future in law. Taggart has found his mate. Thus, he is ready for the initiation," Simon said after taking a sip of tea. Bruce smiled and then glanced back at Simon."He's ready to lead the pack, Simon," Bruce added with pride towards his son. Simon also smiled without nodding."Have you seen the lady?" Bruce nodded with his pursed lips. He still looked confident."I heard that she's only a girl, with no wolf soul or blood of a royal. That's what they say. Is that true?"Bruce's smile had faded, and he started to look tense. Without making a justification, Bruce straightened his back, staring at Simon thoughtfully."That's why he has to turn her into one of our kind, Simon. The wedding will be during the mating season in t
Boringly, Pearl laid down on the empty, lavish, comfortable king-size bed. She stared blankly on one side while gently twisting the edge of her pillow cover. She was not keen on running away again after her fight with Taggart. Until, in the middle of the night, the bedroom door squeaked and slowly opened. Pearl startled and then turned to widen her eyes. Taggart stepped in limping. He drank a lot since he couldn’t keep thinking about Pearl.Pearl sat on the bed watching Taggart, half-dragged his feet, and threw himself next to her. She was stunned and frozen, perplexed about the situation. Taggart then chuckled oddly. His behavior was both humorous and perplexing.“Hey, lady. Ah, why are you so grumpy with me?” Taggart whimpered while touching Pearl’s cheek with his fingers. His hand then only lay on the bed because he was too drunk even to lift it.“What happened to you?” Pearl gently asked. Her soothing voice made him comfortable. He smiled and then glanced with his eyes half-opened
“Our Taggart has royal blood in him. he shouldn’t marry someone with mud blood, right Uncle? What will the vampire clan say about the wedding when they discover it?” Damian was slowly releasing his dangerous provocation against Taggart. He manipulates Simon to reclaim his support for Taggart’s mate and initiation. Simultaneously, Simon was thoughtfully considered about Damian’s words.“I’m not ranting, Uncle. I don’t want you to misunderstand me. You know so well, right?” Damian added to show his willingness. Simon smiled and then nodded.“I know. You are such a favorable young wolf full of potential, Damian. Your admission about it made me think something. Taggart might make a mistake, but he should explain it. I mean, he found a mate after all this time. He faced a hard time, especially after we lost the queen, his mom. Taggart should find a mate to support him.” Simon's long explanation had brought a smile to Damian. He nodded agreeably. “I agree with you. Therefore, he must find
The entire way home, Pearl wept silently but suppressed any sobs or squeaks from her tears. Meanwhile, Taggart began to soften as a result of her sobbing.“Stop crying,” he murmured.Taggart wanted to stop the car and persuade Pearl to stop crying, but he hesitated. Watching a girl cry due to her forced departure was a strange experience for him.“Do you love that family? You’d better not respect them.” Taggart sounded annoyed when he talked about Rosenthal. Pearl sulkily turned to Taggart. She was not pleased with the way Taggart had treated her family. It was so rude and heartless."What do you mean? I love my family. But you took me away from them.” Pearl shook her soft voice against Taggart, who was still driving. Taggart turned to the right and snorted sarcastically. He shook his head slightly, feeling an irritate coming on. Pearl made him think harder than he would for any other girl."If you knew the truth, you would regret it." Taggart cursed a little in annoyance. His voice w
John did not presently welcome Taggart, who had arrived. He frowned when he saw Pearl's future husband looking at him cynically.“Good evening, Mr. Taggart,” John said hello and tried to be friendly. Taggart smirked, not intending to reciprocate. He was not going to be pleasant. Ever since he learned about Pearl, he has harbored a deep-seated anger toward his next father-in-law. John was making up stories to fib about."Where's Pearl?" Taggart inquired coldly. It doesn't seem friendly, but Taggart is like that.“What are you looking for her? It is late." Taggart chuckled, still in his sarcasm."Seriously?" he asked, seeming to mock them up. Keith glared disapprovingly. He stepped forward to lunge at Taggart. John quickly grabbed his shoulders. In the meantime, Taggart was still casually looking at Keith and John without moving. He didn't care if he had to break in with violence.“Please don't intrude Pearl. She is resting.&r
After leaving the restaurant, Taggart grabbed Pearl's hand and jerked it harshly. He put his hands on his hips to face Pearl. Pearl was too scared to say anything; her face was pale. Everest felt sorry to see her right. Therefore, he stopped to assist Pearl."Sir, we've got to meet your father; he keeps calling me!" Everest stood between Taggart and Pearl to prevent him from getting angry. Thus, Taggart glared at Everest, warning of his disturbing attitude. Everest just giggled awkwardly and showed him an innocent look.“I'm going home, but not now,” Taggart warned with a growl.“But he calls me every 10 minutes. Look!" Everest showed off his cell phone. On his screen, Bruce Kellent's name appeared. Taggart snorted, extremely annoyed. His eyes grew increasingly sharp, threatening to kill someone. Pearl just kept quiet and said nothing. She couldn't coupe anything happened right now."How about I take Miss Pearl home, and you will go see the Alpha?" Everest suggested to Taggart that he
Everest walked quickly to Taggart's treatment room to report. He mumbled in annoyance as he ranted aimlessly. Everest ranted after discovering that Damian Bronckhorst had picked up Pearl Rosenthal from Excellor instead. He thought that Damian would feel guilty after provoking Taggart with jealousy. However, his actions were markedly different. Damian now disrespects and disgraces Taggart, and Everest doesn't want to let it happen. He hasn't stopped chasing Pearl; instead, he kidnaps her for dinner."Are we going to have direct access to the data bank at the Red Tower?"Everest was walking to see Taggart when he overheard two men discussing The Red Tower's data bank. He quickly stopped. He frowned suspiciously. His eyes rolled, then turned to glance behind him. He was curious to find out about those men. He had heard about the Red Tower and didn't want to lose the opportunity to eavesdrop.“Yes, we will get there. I have to find Pearl's bloodlines. This is
Pearl hesitantly off her working day today. She made a ridiculous decision to accept Damian’s dating offer. On the same time, she didn’t call Taggart yet although she got his number.“What if he finds me lying? He must be angry.” Pearl sighed heavily and then rubbed her forehead. Some of her colleagues have been leaving to go home. It was five already and Damian should be arrived in minutes. After gulping her nervousness, then rethinking a hundred times, Pearl bravely stood from her chair.“Are you going home?” one of her colleagues startled her. Pearl grinned awkwardly, then nodded quickly.“Let’s go then.” Pearl only smiled when she walked along to the elevator. There were a few interns and employees inside it. Like regular off-working hours, many people were squeezing inside to get home earlier.“How do you get work, Pearl?” the girl beside her then glanced and asked.
