She had decided to stay at the hotel instead of going home because she felt drained and worried that seeing Taggart could worsen her situation. Damian assisted her in renting the room and stayed next door to keep an eye on her. Despite their lack of closeness, Damian seemed like a kind man.
"What if Taggart comes to my house and does something bad?" Pearl asked herself. She was highly concerned that Taggart might act mad.
