It implies that Taggart still harbours the urge to consume blood, much like a vampire, due to half the vampire clan within his body. However, as a hybrid, Taggart can stay strong like a werewolf even though he doesn't drink blood regularly. He consumed the blood only for his additional nutrition to heal wounds or, in some cases, for fun.
Therefore, when Taggart finds his mate, he will imprint her by sucking her blood. What happened before was that Taggart attacked Pearl by biting her neck. Simultaneously, Taggart also could erase the memory traces of what he did to his mate. Without Pearl's recall, she wouldn't remember what happened because Taggart had erased her memory.
"Are you addicted to her? You mean, now you want to taste her blood again?" Everest asked, still with the same disbelieving expression. Taggart nodded without taking his eyes off Everest. He was indeed about his feelings.
