Sheila looked as though she was in shock as she stared daggers at me. “You will pay for this,” she mouthed as she chased after Arrow.
“Thank you.” I hugged Darren. He wrapped me in his arms. “I will always protect you.” He rested his chin on my head.
“So, what was that about anyway, Arrow got really mad.” I snickered thinking of Sheila’s shocked face.
A couple of weeks passed by. Darren and I were a real couple now. He walked me to and from every class. We had promised each other if we weren’t mates, we would go back to being best friends. I hoped we were mates. His Birthday is next week, I was going to throw him a party, but his teammates had beat me to it. The party was taking place on the day of his eighteenth birthday. I was excited but nervous at the same time. I wouldn’t know if we were mates until I turned eighteen. I wouldn’t turn eighteen for three more months.
The night of the party arrived. Darren had picked me up. As we drove, he held my hand. He was now officially able to find his mate. I was nervous. He kept reassuring me that everything would be fine. We got to the party a little after six. The party was in full swing; the music was blaring, and everyone was dancing. When a slow song came on, Darren led me out to the dance floor. We danced together, swaying gently to the music. When the song ended, Darren went to find us some drinks.
While I waited, I talked to a couple of people, and danced a bit with a couple of girls who were from a different school; but after the fourth song, I went to find Darren. I asked around but nobody had seen him in a while. When I got to the backyard, the pool was full of wolves. Some were swimming naked, some were splashing and jumping in the water. I saw a small changing room off the side of a shed where I assumed the pool supplies were kept.
“Hey, if you’re looking for Darren, He went in there.” I had never seen that girl before. I felt eyes on me, what was happening? I felt as though I may throw up from my nerves, I knew something wasn’t right. I saw the twins in the pool watching me. Creepy.
As I approached the changing room, I could hear moans coming from inside. I opened the door. My eyes widened and I felt bile rising up in my throat. Darren was inside with his dick buried to the hilt in some girl. I stepped back as the disgusting smell of sex hit me like a ton of bricks. I stepped back to get away from them, I turned to run but came face to face with Sheila.
“Oh, poor little Rina, Didn’t Darren tell you he found his mate?” She said with faux sympathy. She sneered at the hurt on my face. “By the way, did you meet my cousin Bianca?” she waved to the girl who had told me where Darren was. I could hear Darren shuffling around.
“Rina! Wait! Rina, please, let me talk to you!” Darren yelled as he tried to pull up his pants. His mate looked pissed that I had interrupted them.
I didn’t want to talk to him. I didn’t want to talk to anyone. I turned and took off running towards the street. I had to get out of here. I couldn’t stay here in this pack another minute.
As I ran, I looked over my shoulder. Nobody was following me, why would they?
I didn’t stop running until I reached my house. Mom was working late trying to get the colors right for the twins’ cake, and dad was running the security detail from his office.
I ran up the stairs to my room. I grabbed some clothes and threw them in my duffle bag, I grabbed my phone charger and my laptop, stuffing them into the bag along with everything else, I grabbed my bank where I kept my savings. I had saved up two-thousand dollars from various jobs at the bakery and birthdays. I dumped it out into my bag. I threw on a pair of sweats and a black hoodie. I looked around one more time before I headed out. I shut the door behind me, I had written a note a long time ago; I dropped it on my bed so my parents would find it.
I looked around to make sure no one would see me; I took off straight for the tress. I ran into the woods, I didn’t care where I ended up or what happened to me, death was better than the humiliation I had suffered. As I ran, I heard howls in the distance. Probably some wolves out for a run, I told myself. I kept running, I had almost reached the border when I ran into a brick wall. I fell backward landing hard on my back. “Now look what you did to her!” A voice scolded. I knew that voice but why? I felt my eyes close as unconsciousness slipped over me.
I had no idea how long I was out. As I opened my eyes, I realized I was in the pack hospital. How did I get here? I tried to sit up but the spinning in my head disagreed. I lay back down feeling like I had been hit by a bus.
I was just starting to feel a little less dizzy when my mom came in holding a cup of coffee. “You’re awake! My baby is awake!”
“Mom,” I tried to say but she ran out of the room.
She came back a few minutes later with the doctor. “Well, welcome back.” He smiled.
He began checking me over. “How long have I been out?” My head felt as though it would explode any minute.
“You have been out for a few days.” He watched me as if I would break.
“A few days? How did I get here?” The last thing I remembered was running into the wall in the woods.
“Baby, after what happened with Darren, the twins went after you. They followed you into the woods. You fell and hit your head. Thank the Goddess they were there, they brought you here.”
“The twins?” I asked not believing her. “They hate me, why would they help me?”
My mother and the doctor exchanged glances. “Oh baby, they don’t hate you. They have been coming every day to check on you.”
Now I knew I was dead. Why would they come to visit me or save me? Nothing was making sense.
“I think you need to rest. When you hit your head, it caused your concussion to worsen. You need to rest and take things very slowly.” The doctor watched me as if I would suddenly start hitting my head against something on purpose.
I lay back against my pillows. I heard voices from outside my door.
“No, I think she likes roses best,” someone said. The same voice answered “Nope, your wrong. She likes carnations.” Who was arguing outside with themselves?
“I must need more rest.” I closed my eyes just as footsteps entered my room.
“Gentlemen,” The doctor said as he left.
“Hey, Nadia. How’s the patient?”
I recognized that voice, but why the hell were they here? Did they really need to rub it in my face what Sheila had done to me?”
“Hi, guys.” My mom said sounding excited to see them.
“Is she still sleeping?” Arion asked.
“No, she’s awake.”
Really? Thanks, Mom, I thought to myself.
I rolled over slowly. Too fast and I would puke. “What are you guys doing here?” I snapped. “I don’t need you to remind me of what happened. Your girlfriend made sure I and everyone else wouldn’t forget it any time soon.” I looked down at my arms. I would not give them the satisfaction of seeing me cry.
The twins looked at each other before looking back at me. “What girlfriends?” Arion asked.
“Yeah, we dumped those bitches,” Arrow chimed in.
“Yeah right.” I was not falling for it.
“Hey, we brought you some flowers,” Arion said holding out the carnations.
“Yeah, here,” Arrow said handing me the roses. “We got you both because we knew you liked both.”
“Thanks,” I didn’t know what to think. I assumed a ferocious swarm of bees would suddenly fly out of them or something.
“Well, I will grab something from the nurse to put the flowers in,” my mom offered as she practically ran out of the room.
Arion took my hand, Arrow who had gone to the opposite side, held my other hand. “We are really sorry for what happened,” Arion offered.
“Yeah, Darren is a creep for not telling you before he fucked his mate,” Arrow interjected.
“Yeah, uh thanks? Not to be rude, but why are you here? I know you hate me. I don’t need you to feel sorry for me. As soon as I am healed, I am out of here, I am leaving this pack for good.” I knew I was talking fast but I didn’t care. I wanted them to know I wouldn’t fall for their tricks. I had plans.
They shared a look. “If your heart is set on going, I guess we could go with you for a while. We would have to come back eventually but we could go for, like, a year or two,” Arion looked hopeful as if I would agree.
“Yeah, and we don’t hate you. How could we ever hate you?” Arrow looked confused.
“Yeah, you are way too cute, and smart, and” Arion paused looking for the word.
“Sexy,” Arrow said. His eyes darkened before turning back to the usual amber color.
Was I in some sort of alternate universe? What was happening here? That’s it, I died. I died and this is my hell. The Hell twins like me, Darren betrayed me, yup. I’m dead and have gone to hell.
“I think we should get going,” Arion said. “I think she still needs her rest.” He looked at Arrow.
“You go. I will stay here and keep her company.” Arrow smirked watching his brother’s face drop.
“No, if you stay, I stay.” They both pulled up chairs.
“Where are we going?” Arrow asked me.
“Yeah, I want to know too,” Arion chimed in.
“Wait, what? What do you mean where are we going?” I was getting angrier and more confused by the second.
“You said you were leaving, we aren’t letting you go by yourself, so where are we going?” Arion asked sounding serious.
“Why are you asking me?” They didn’t give up! I was done falling for their tricks! I wasn’t convinced they didn’t have a hidden camera on them. Yes, that must be it. They were recording this whole thing and would show it to the rest of the school. “I am leaving the pack. I have had enough of the torment. I had planned to leave when I was eighteen, but now I am not waiting any longer. As soon as I am better, I am out of here.”
They both froze before Arrow realized what I had said.“What? No, you can’t leave the pack!” Exclaimed Arrow as he jumped up almost falling out of his chair.“And why can’t I?” I could imagine the smug look on my face as I crossed my arms over my chest.“Because your ours,” he said before Arion could stop him.“Excuse me? I’m your what? Your person to make fun of? The wolf you get to laugh at with your girlfriends. Or wait! I know, I’m the girl you get to call names and throw food at, right?” I could feel the tears stinging my eyes.“You are not any of those things,” Arion whispered.“Yeah, you’re ours, our hot, sexy mate!” Arrow said.“Arrow!” Arion scolded.I just sat there with my mouth hanging open. I did not just hear that! What kind of a fool did they take me for? I could feel my face heating up with anger. “How dare you!” I yelled at them. “You mosey on in here telling my mother that you care about me and want to make sure I am ok, then you tell her you followed me into the woo
My mom came back a few minutes later. She looked between the twins and me. “I think these look beautiful in here; what do you think Rina?” She held the vase with both bouquets mixed together in it.“They had that vase at the nurse’s station?” I knew better than to believe that.“Well, no. I ran into the gift shop, the woman was so helpful. She asked who these were for, I told her my daughter’s mates had brought them, and she helped me pick out this beautiful vase. She also arranged them; don’t they look so lovely mixed together?”I rolled my eyes. “Mom, when do I get to go home?” I wanted to go home, I felt better but I needed space where I could be alone. I needed time to process all that has happened.“The doctor said tomorrow.” My mom was still looking at the flowers.I grumbled, “does anyone know where my phone is?” I could at least use it to take my mind off of being stuck here.“I’ll get it, I took it out of the bag you had, it’s been charging.” Arion walked over to the little t
We started driving heading along the road to my house. I could see the pack house in the distance. I wanted to get home; I had thought I would be so far away from here by now. I had hoped my duffle bag was here, otherwise, my life savings is gone. As we parked in the driveway all of us got out, except my dad. I looked at him pleadingly. “Sorry, Pumpkin, I have to go work on the security for our house, I have it done for the next couple of days, but I need to get caught up so there is no chance for a skipped time. I will see you tonight, I love you.” He put the car in reverse before I could protest.I looked at the twins who were holding my things. I didn’t say anything, instead, I walked up to the door and unlocked it, I gestured for them to come in. Once inside, I shut the door. I looked around at our modest home. Mom could have had a bigger one, my dad always tried to give her everything but, she liked our home. She said it had character and it was full of memories. I could smell
I couldn’t help but think how cute he is when he is flustered. I heard the door close, I let myself relax. My muscles were stiff from how much time I had been spending in bed lately. I spent an hour soaking in the tub. When I was finished, I picked up the fluffy towel from the shelf. I wrapped myself in it; I was about to open the door when it opened revealing Arion.“I thought I heard you, I would have helped you.” He held out his hand to me. I took it.“Where’s Arrow?” I asked. I was surprised it was just Arion.“He fell asleep on your bed. He hasn’t slept much since we found out you are our mate. He has been so worried. He isn’t as tough as everyone thinks.” He explained.When I walked into my room, I smiled at Arrow sound asleep on my bed. “We shouldn’t disturb him. He needs to rest too.” I couldn’t help thinking how cute he is asleep. I threw on some comfy clothes. I wasn’t going anywhere; I took Arion’s hand. “Come on,” I pulled his hand, and he followed me. We went downstairs;
The next day I didn’t wake up till eleven-thirty. I had been up late watching movies with the twins. Sunday, the last day before returning to hell. I looked around; I was alone in the middle of the bed. Where were they now? I heard my mom in the kitchen, it sounded like she was talking to someone. I rubbed the sleep from my eyes. I groaned as I slid myself to the edge of the bed, I stretched before standing up. I made my way into the kitchen, my mom was standing at the oven, the door was open, and I could see fresh cinnamon rolls. They smelled divine; I could almost taste them. Arion was looking into the oven with my mom while she explained everything you need to do to make sure they are soft and delicious. Arrow sat on a stool, talking to someone on the phone. He was the first to notice me.“Dad, I gotta go, k, bye,” he hung up as he turned to me. “Good morning beautiful mate.” He smiled as though he hadn’t seen me in days. I smiled as he hugged me too tight.“Arrow, you’re going to
The twins walked with me as we made our way to the entrance, I saw Darren who smiled as he made his way over. They stopped with me as I greeted Darren, this time he stopped a few feet from me as he noticed how the twins were watching him. “Hey,” he said looking nervous.“Hey, Darren,” I said back trying to sound nonchalant.“Ok, well, we will see you later,” Arrow said giving Darren a warning look. He had his arm around me as I held Arion’s hand.I didn’t really want to talk to Darren much anyway. His betrayal was still too fresh. When we reached the gym, Arrow, and Arion both kissed me before jogging to the locker room. I could feel my body trembling. I knew Sheila and Jackie would be here, they never missed school or classes. I sat down cross-legged on the floor to wait for the twins.“So, you hated me enough to take my boyfriend because someone better took yours, huh?” Sheila’s shrill voice said from the doorway. I turned to see her and Jackie glaring at me.“I didn’t even do anyt
I stepped back, “sorry, I didn’t mean to, I.” He cut me off before I could finish.“Rina, hey, I was hoping we could talk,” his eyes met mine.“Um, I’m not sure right now is a good time, I have,” I didn’t get to finish my sentence.“Why do you keep showing up around our mate?” I froze hearing Arrow’s tone.“Haven’t you hurt her enough? If you insist on talking to her, you can do it without sneaking around,” Arion snarled.Arrow wrapped his arms around me protectively, and Arion stepped in front of me.“I don’t think you get it; she is our mate. You can talk to her with us around, I won’t let you hurt her again.” Arion’s voice sounded deadly.I shivered; his voice sending tingles to my core. I watched the color drain from Daren’s face.“Rina, I’m sorry. I just want you to know, that I still love you, and I always will. You were my best friend for a long time, and I just don’t want to lose that.”I felt my heart break as I thought of the party. I couldn’t help it. Finding him with someo
We finished loading up most of my stuff into Arrow’s truck. I was tired from carrying the boxes. I climbed in to wait for the twins who were bringing down the last couple of boxes. Arrow opened the door making me jump.“You ok Babe?” He asked watching me as though I may break.“Yeah, I am just tired. My body feels weird.” I wasn’t lying, my whole body felt like it was drained of all energy.“You look tired,” Arion said climbing in the passenger seat.“I am tired, moving is hard,” I didn’t want to tell them how nervous I am. Once everyone at school finds out I officially moved into the packhouse, I could only imagine what they will say.Arrow started up the truck backing out, he turned, and headed in the direction of the pack house. When we pulled up out front, Luna Nina and Alpha Jax stood waiting for us.“Rina! We are so glad you are here!” Luna Nina said excitedly.“Well Rina, I am glad you have decided to join us. My boys have talked about you nonstop.” Alpha Jax looked a lot like
Today was the last day before the mating ceremony. I was excited but also nervous. I would be standing in front of the pack as we are announced as the new Alphas and their Luna. We would also be announcing the twins I am carrying. I looked at myself in the mirror. So much has changed in a short time. I went from being invisible to being mated to my hell twins. I wouldn't change being their mate but sometimes I have doubts about myself. Since the medallion confirmed I am the true Luna, I have tried to push the worries away. I never would have imagined that simple me, Rina, would be the true Luna, mated to the Alpha Twins. "Hey Rina, you ok in there?" Arion's voice broke through my thoughts. "Yeah, sorry, I will be out in a minute," I called back. I ran my fingers through my hair one more time before opening the door. Arion was still standing there, he leaned down gently kissing my forehead. "We were getting worried," he explained. I peered into our bedroom, Arrow was still sleepin
The next morning, I awoke to the smell of bacon cooking. My mouth watered as the scent filled my nose. I stretched as I yawned. I slid off the bed, and walking to the bathroom, I could hear the muffled voices of my mates. I made my way to the kitchen, the smell of bacon making my stomach growl. "Good morning," I greeted my mates. "Good morning Babe," they answered in unison. "We made breakfast," they both smiled. "It smells divine," I smiled back. Arrow placed a plate of bacon, eggs, and homefries before me. I picked up my fork and took a bite. It tasted every bit as good as it smelled. I couldn't help the moan that escaped me. "This is delicious," I said shoveling another fork full into my mouth. They both chuckled, "I'm glad," Arion said happily. They brought their plates over and plopped down on either side of me. A comfortable silence fell over us as we ate. When I had finished, I carried my plate to the sink. Turning on the water, I picked up the soap."Um, what do you think
The book in my hands held more information than I had ever seen in one place. The book foretold an enemy to werewolves unlike any we had faced before. Not only was it one of our own, but the truest packs would be the main targets. The medallions were forged long ago to help defeat the threat when the time came. As I looked at the words staring back at me from the pages, I couldn't help the feeling of worry growing heavier in my chest with each passing sentence. "Rina, you don't look like you are feeling very well," Arion's worried voice broke through my thoughts. "I think you need to take a break."I sighed, "I think you are right, I am going to put this back for now but we will have to come back soon," I said knowing I would hold the book again. Once we exited, I couldn't help but think about the things I had read. I had stopped before I read too much further into what would happen once the enemy was discovered. I knew we were facing a huge threat but I knew I had to protect my bab
The hot water helped to soothe my muscles. I wanted to relax and forget all the weird things that had happened that day. Why did the medallion react that way to me? Was I truly the true Luna of our pack? Why did I start glowing when I was upset from the nightmare I had? All these questions kept racing around inside my head. I sunk, letting myself sink below the water before popping back up again. I wiped the water from my eyes, and when I opened them, I was staring into two sets of identical eyes. "What are you doing in the tub, little mate?" Arion asked, his eyes darkening a bit. "We would have run a bath for you and joined you," Arrow replied in a husky voice. "I can run myself a bath," I retorted. " I wanted a bit of time to soak by myself," I said, giving them a sly smile. "Besides, my body is a bit sore. I leaned back and closed my eyes. I felt a hand reach in and tickle me, and I slapped it away eliciting a laugh from Arrow. "We will let you enjoy your time," he chuckled
"Babe, we have you," Arion tried again to soothe my sobs. "It was horrible," I cried. I lifted my head to look at my mates. "Rina?" Arrow said. "I am not trying to scare you, but you need to breathe, please, breathe with me," he began taking deep breaths and letting them out slowly. I tried to follow but my mind couldn't focus. I felt an unfamiliar feeling that began in the pit of my stomach before spreading throughout my body. "Rina, you have to listen to us right now," Arion tried, his voice thick with worry. I lifted my head to look at him. "Rina, please, you have to calm down," Arion begged. I looked at my hands, the strange glow that had been in my eyes when Sheila's mother had insulted me earlier had spread and was now engulfing my entire body. I looked into the worried eyes of my mates. I sucked in a deep breath before slowly releasing it. As I continued to breathe, the glow began dissipating. I concentrated on the feel of my mates holding me and before long, I was n
"My eyes are glowing?" I asked incredulously. I closed my eyes and opened them again. "Are they still glowing?" I asked looking at my mates. "It is fading," Arrow answered. "What the hell was that anyway?" he asked looking at his father."That my son was the medallion confirming Rina is the true Luna of our pack. The medallion will only react that way in the hands of the true Luna," he explained. "Will that happen every time she holds it?" Arion asked."I can't be sure," he replied. "I have only heard tales of its power." I sat quietly, there was a strange tingling sensation spreading throughout my body. I wasn't sure what to do, it did not hurt but it felt strange, to say the least."Let it happen, do not fight it," Mirage said in my mind. "The Moon Goddess is giving you the power to protect and help our pack. We always had the power and strength, she is blessing us with her strength, we are destined for this.""Mirage, why is she giving us more strength if we were always strong
We were back in our wing in no time. I sat on the couch sipping a hot cup of tea, it normally helped me calm down but my mind was still racing. I couldn't get the scent out of my mind. "Rina, are you ok?" Arrow asked looking concerned. "What? Oh yeah, I'm ok," I replied. I didn't want to bring up the familiarity of the scent. I tried to forget it but despite having both of my mates snuggled in with me, I couldn't get it out of my mind. "Have the warriors found anything?" I asked not sure if I wanted a yes or no answer. "They haven't found anything. It's like they are searching for a ghost," Arrow grumbled. I sighed, nothing seemed to be alright. I was tired of feeling scared and worried, I should be happy. I have my mates, we are having our pups, and we will be telling everyone our happy news soon. No matter how much I tried, I could not shake the creepy feeling. "I am going to go check on the progress," Arrow said as he untangled himself from me. "I don't want to leave Rina b
When I woke up, I could still smell the four she-wolves Matt had brought here, I wrinkled my nose at the scent of stale alcohol and way too much cheap perfume. I went to the sink, filling my glass with cold water, I felt eyes on my back. I looked over my shoulder to see Matt leaning on the kitchen island. "Good morning," I greeted him, I was still aggravated about last night but didn't want him to know that, yet. "Sorry about last night, I was too drunk to know what was happening," he explained. I didn't answer right away. I turned to face him, "I don't understand you," I said honestly. "You know your friends are with me, but you try to undermine our relationship and our bond every chance you get," I wanted him to explain himself."You're right," he sighed. "I wanted to go back to a time when things were simpler. Taking over as Alpha is a big deal," he looked down at his hands. I looked at him to find sincerity on his usually cocky face. "Becoming Alpha is a big deal, but you are t
I ate my breakfast as the twins and Matt caught up. It was interesting to hear about the adventures they had shared. They had done a lot more together than I had expected. “It sounds like you had a lot of fun when you were together all the time,” I commented. “Yeah, we were as thick as thieves,” Matt chuckled. “Hey, what happened with you two, and that shy little wolf you always talked about? Did you ever make a move before you found her?” he asked looking in my direction.“You could say that,” Arrow chucked. “Rina is the shy little wolf we always talked about,” Arion answered. “So that little wolf was your mate that whole time?” Matt chuckled.“Yup, she is one and the same,” Arrow smiled putting his arm over my shoulders. Matt looked surprised, “Man, I still can’t believe the famous lady killer twins are not only mated but having pups! There must be a lot of jealous females out there.” He chuckled as he took a bite.I smiled uneasily, I knew he was right. I never thought in a mill
