“I’m so proud of you my dear. You’re the best,” Mrs Riordan complimented, her hands wrapped around Anna as they made their way out of the building. “You proved to them that the Riordan shouldn’t be messed with. I’m delighted.”

Anna giggled. “Of course, Mother. It was easy putting them in their places.” Super easy putting her enemies in their places these days. If they wanted to defeat her, they would have to bring a much better opponent, someone who was way stronger.

“Mother would be so excited when she hears this. I can’t wait to give her the news.”

They both walked out of the building to the parking lot where their cars were parked. Before Anna could break away from her mother-in-law and get into her car, the woman stopped her.

“Anna, dear.”

She turned.

“Mother.”

“Would you be able to come with me to the mansion for a while? I have something for you. It won’t take too long.”

Anna frowned. “Mother, I’m in pain to refuse you but it’s a little too late.” It was past twilight already
