A Mere Woman

Anna’s eyes traced everyone at the breakfast table as she walked into the dining hall, her eyes tracing from the older woman at the edge of the table to Mr Riordan and finally settled on Caden who sat beside him. Everyone else was seated at the table except herself and Caspian.

She bowed in greeting at the elders and walked to her mother-in-law’s side to wrap her hands around her neck for a hug.

“Did you have a good night's rest, dear?” The woman asked.

“Thanks to you, yes.” She settled on the chair beside her followed by Caspian. Her eyes fell on Ethan and Elle sitting astride them and then on Caden. She hadn’t seen him at the party the previous day and as for Mr Riordan, she’d purposely avoided him with everything in her. One, because Caspian asked, and two, because she didn’t need trouble. Just like Ethan and the other Riordan brothers, he was bad news.
