"How are you doing?" Simon's voice sounded heavier than usual.

Camilla muttered lightly, "I'm fine now, thank you."

Simon remained silent. Just as Camilla thought the call had been disconnected, his voice rang out again, "I was still too late. If I had arrived before him, would things be different?"

Camilla didn't know where he was getting at. But it suddenly hit her. She gave Jayden a weird look. "Don't look too deep into it. I still need to thank you for your help today. When are you free? I'll treat you to a meal."

"Really? Just the two of us?" Simon's voice instantly grew joyful.

Camilla sighed helplessly. "When are you available?"

Simon chirped, "I'll have the time once you've fully recovered."

Camilla fell silent. She suddenly didn't know what to say.

"Okay, rest well. I won't disturb you any longer. Go to sleep," Simon said and hung up the phone. He had simply called to check on her.
