“She is some kind of very powerful witch. For now, she stays until it is safe for her to leave or until we decide differently.” Something ticked hard in my chest as I let the words out.

“That being said, I expect you to watch your manners, women require treading a bit more carefully around than you are used to with each other. Be respectful, and do not ask too many questions. It's okay to talk to her, but she's been through a lot, get to know her, not where she came from.” I advised.

The younger two scrunched up their faces and Bastain narrowed his eyes at me. “Let's just say I already had to apologize myself for digging in too deeply to her past and it's not something I want you boys having to think too hard about. Not everyone, even people in pretty houses, with maids and cooks have happy pasts. Stick to what she openly wants to tell you.
