Adam POV “What do you mean she’s gone?” I yell at a passed-out Stan. Sam grabs my arm as Jack mind-links the Pack doctor to come quickly. Doctor Rivers was already at the ceremony, so he was only footsteps away. They carried Stan over to the Pack hospital with instructions to notify us immediately when he was awake. Running up the stairs to Jenna’s room, I do not see that a big fight took place. I do find Tim already looking around, which I find odd. “What are you doing here?” I demand of him. “I saw Stan was knocked out, I stopped to help him when he told me to come check on the Luna,” he says while he continues looking around. “Have you found anything? Any evidence?” I ask him as Sam looks around also suspicious of Tim. “No, there is no scent of anyone else having been here,” he says before he turns to look at both of us. “Do you think she changed her mind?” Tim asks me. I move forward grabbing the collar of his jacket, “You are joking
Adam POV Having left Stan’s room, Sam and I meet up with Jack and head to my office. As we enter the Pack house, Jenna’s father is waiting in the lobby for me. “I may have someone we can talk with,” he says as he follows us to my office. “Get them here now,” I reply to him. “It is not that easy, Adam; they know there is bad blood between the witches and the Red Pine Pack,” he shares. “I do not care about any of that. My mate is missing, get someone here as soon as possible!” I yell at him. I cannot stand any more of this nonsense. This is not about supernatural politics; this was about my missing mate. Nothing else matters but getting her back. “I will do what I can,” he replies before leaving the room. Looking to Sam and Jack I see their sympathy. I do not want their sympathy. I do not want anyone’s sympathy. I want my mate. “Stop looking at me like that; we will find her,” I say to both of them. “We will find her, Adam; we just nee
Jenna POV Splash! Sputtering, I am coughing trying to catch my breath. “Wakey, wakey, Jenna; it is time for you to wake up,” the male voice says. I slowly open my eyes trying to focus. How long had I been out? Where was I? Was Adam looking for me? Were my parents? My mind was racing as I tried to figure out what was happening, when another splash of water hit my face. Choking, I sit up, realizing I am still in a bed with one hand now cuffed to the bed. I could sit up which was more than I could do when I first arrived. “There she is - my beautiful soon to be mate,” the voice says. I strain my neck trying to see who is standing off in the shadows. “Come forward you coward,” I say to him. My mind is trying to remember what happened. I had been knocked out. I recognized the person but now my mind was blissfully ignorant of everything. I did a check of my body. Nothing was out of sorts aside from the amount of wolfsbane and silver in m
Adam POV It had been a fucking week since Jenna had been taken. We had gotten very little from Tim, even with the torture Sam had been administering. I was just entering the dungeon area, we had moved Tim from his holding cell midweek, when Tim suddenly screamed in agony. It was from nothing Sam had done to him. Looking at Sam I am confused with what I am seeing. Sam moves toward Tim pulling him to stand back up, when Tim doubles over once again in pain. “What the hell is going on?” I ask Sam. “The only time I have seen something like that is when a fated mate dies,” he replies. Looking at Tim, I move closer to him, “Is that what is happening, Tim? The tether is snapping from your bond?” I taunt him. Now he would have a sense of what it was like to lose your mate. Jenna was not dead, but it felt like death to me with her missing. “It is not possible. He promised we would have a life, if we did what he asked,” Tim replies gasping for air
Jenna POV The Rogue King laughs out loud. “I love your spirit Jenna, you are going to keep me on my toes I can tell,” he says. “I have no desire to keep you on your toes. It is time to let me go,” I demand of him. “You know that will not happen Jenna; I have put too much time and effort into acquiring you to give you up now. I have waited far too long to have you to myself,” he says as he leans forward placing his elbows on his knees. I sit back on the bed wanting to get as far away from him as possible. I am still exhausted from the silver and have not heard from Tina yet. If I am going to try and escape, I need her strength to help me. I know I cannot do that yet. “Where are we?” I ask him. “You already asked me that Jenna; I told you I would not tell you yet where we are,” he replies calmly like he is talking to a child. “So now what?” I ask him out of desperation. This being in limbo was killing me and I had only just woken up. “Sh
Eric POV I felt rage overcome my body. I grabbed Jenna off the bed and tossed her against the wall. I knew she was not one hundred percent yet but her defeatist comment enraged me. I saw her small body slam against the wall and slide down to the ground. I felt some of the rage dissipate as I watched her crumpled body hit the floor. It took a moment before she moved. I felt a breath leave my body as I had feared I had killed her. She was my only hope to solve this problem. I had to rely on Jenna to save her. She was all that mattered to me. I slowly moved across the floor towards Jenna as she scrambled away from me backwards. I did not want her to be afraid of me, but she had to know what the cost was if she was not successful. I would not let her live. I could not have my secrets revealed and sadly she would have too much power. I would attempt to mark her once the healing was complete. She was beautiful and I could easily fall for her, if given
Jenna POV I woke up the next morning in agony. Everything still hurt. I was awoken last night to eat supper. I did only to try and build my strength, not because I was hungry. Every bite was a struggle to take. I just wanted to sleep and dreaded Eric coming to see me once again. But he never came, and I was relieved to have a reprieve from the psycho. I looked around my room needing to use the washroom. I go to the small area that you would call a bathroom. I used the washroom and freshened up as best I could. I needed a shower. I needed to feel human again. Instead, I was being treated like a prisoner. I would even take a cold wash in a stream at this point. As I walked out of the closet of a washroom, I was startled to see food there and Eric standing off to the side awaiting my arrival. He looks up from his phone and nods to me as if we were in a normal situation. I glare at him before moving forward to take my food tray to my bed
Adam POV As soon as I got back from the hospital, I called Sam and Jack to my office. I told them what I had found when I had seen Doctor Matthews. They agreed his response was a little too convenient. There is no way Jenna’s scent would linger to the level I had smelled it on him. He certainly would not have gotten it from a lab coat that had been in her locker for days. Something was not right with the doctor, and I would find out what it was. We had been watching the doctor for two days now. Two days longer that Jenna is missing. That Jenna could be being abused or used for her healing powers. There was nothing that the doctor did that changed his schedule. He worked long hours at the hospital. Then he went home. That was it. There were no other deviations from where he went. While he was at the hospital, we searched around his home. There were no scents of Jenna coming from the house. Jack had even gone a little rogue on us and e
Six months later ... Jenna POV I sat feeding my pup, Grace. She was the most beautiful little girl I had ever seen, but I am sure I am quite bias I think with a chuckle. She had dark hair like her daddy, and silver eyes like me with her angelic features. Adam was an amazing daddy to his little girl. He got up with me for all feedings and took her to his office often to give me a break. There was no me and him; it was one hundred percent us. I loved him more for that. Grace had been born two months ago. I do not know how, but I was blessed with a very quick labour and delivery. I suspect it had something to do with Gracie’s impatience at wanting to be born. She was ready to see this world and meet her family. We knew from the moment of her birth she had a strong aura. You knew you were in the presence of someone special. Her eyes were bright, and she has been aware of her surroundings since the first moment she opened them. It would n
Adam POV As I come through the forest and come upon the scene in front of me my heart sinks as I see yet another ring of rogues surrounding Jenna. I can see the two warriors in front of her being destroyed as Tim makes his way towards her. I roar my anger as Jake pounces forward destroying all rogues in his path. My only goal is to get to Jenna. When I heard from her it was Elder Fred who had betrayed us, I was filled with rage. I wanted to destroy him myself, but I see someone beat me to it as his insides are spilled out on the ground in front of Jenna. I know, from Jenna, that the Pack members present are unable to shift as they were affected by the wolfsbane. It also explains why they could not communicate with me. Fortunately, the rogues were not bothering with them, and I could see the women were pushing the children away as best they could without drawing attention to themselves. I make my way through the crowd of rogues along with th
Adam POV It felt great to have Sam back again. I am sure there is some story behind his mystery woman, but that would be a conversation over a cold beer once we cleared out the rogue situation. I shifted midstride, destroying my clothes but there was no time to stop and change. Our warriors were updating us that the numbers of rogues entering our territory were higher than we had seen before. They might be an army, but they were not a healed army so there would be disorganization amongst them. They would fight for so long before their own goals would shadow what the current head rogue wanted. And it concerned me that the head rogue could be Tim. He knew more about Jenna because of his connection to the Rogue King and Wendy. Clearly it put him at an advantage we would have preferred he not have. As I broke through the clearing, Sam and Jack were close on my heels. I could not believe what I saw. There were at least thirty rogues fighting o
Adam POV Jenna’s father was brought back into the courtroom. Her mother, Luna Ashley, was also brought in for her husband’s sentencing. She sits directly behind Alpha Gordon, with warriors on either side of her. Everyone was required to stand as the judges returned to their seats. They looked solemnly at those of us present. “There is no winning side in today’s proceedings,” the judge starts to say. “There is only room for justice. The atrocities committed by Alpha Gordon Frasier in the case of trying to kidnap his own daughter, in return assisting with the kidnapping of someone else, plus supporting the development of a rogue army leave us little wiggle room for sentencing anything less than life in prison,” the judge concludes his spiel. Jenna’s mother screams and the warriors must grab her to keep her from lunging toward the judges. Alpha Gordon slams his fist down on the table, breaking it in half as he stands also threatening the judg
Adam POV Since Jenna’s mother’s revelation that the rogues were coming for us, I have rallied our troops to get them ready for an impending attack. I have tried to reach Sam with no luck. It is unusual that I would not be able to reach him, but I had to assume he was having a good time. He was due back by the end of this week. I would worry if he did not show up then. Jenna’s mother disclosed nothing more than the statements, “I expect they will be here any time now.”. That had been a couple of days ago. Jenna had a lot of time for painstaking self-reflection during this time. Well reflection on her entire life. How parents could treat their daughter as they had was still beyond reproach to me. Jenna was also suffering thinking of Josie. Not lost on us was the fact that Eric tried to become her mate. That reflects how little everyone knew of the deceit of Jenna’s parents and the Rogue King himself. Had they known the truth, they may have avoided a
Jenna POV It had been a couple days since we had incarcerated my father. My mother had arrived with more flair than I had ever noticed before. When she first saw me, she walked over to me standing beside Adam and Jack. I had expected a hug. What I got was a slap in the face. The parking area echoed with the slap against my face. Adam quickly grabbed my mother’s arm breaking it. “How dare you touch my mate?” he yells at her. “Oh please, you did not want her in the beginning and now you expect me to believe you have changed. It is because she is a healer and the strength she brings to your Pack!” she shrieks. I cringe back hating being reminded of our start. And now I have to wonder if my parents ever really cared for me, or did they only like what I brought to the table? “Why did you bother keeping me a secret?” I ask her as she stands there nursing her broken arm. “What?” she asks me confused with my question. “Why didn’t you tell others I had he
Adam POV I could not believe what I was hearing. Like this made some kind of sense to Alpha Gordon. I could feel the tension and heartbreak that Jenna was feeling. I had wrapped my arms around her, feeling her coldness in the dank dungeons. I tried to move her, but she was standing firm. She was not finished with her father. “What do you get in return for turning me and Josie over?” Jenna asks her father. He looks at her confused. “Jenna, you are safe for now. They have Josie,” he says like he has saved her. “That’s just it, I am safe for now, what happens when they need me? Are you going to kidnap me yourself?” she asks her father. “Jenna, you always were so dramatic,” her father hisses. “What is the harm in healing the men and women to help them?” he asks her. We all look at him incredulously. “You want me to heal an army of rogues who want to destroy Packs?” she asks him slowly. It is like he does not see the harm of what he is sa
Adam POV Jenna had taken a seat on the couch. Jack was standing against the wall next to where she sat. And I was sitting behind my desk. I had been advised two warriors were on their way with Tiffany. The door was open in expectation of their arrival. As the warriors entered the Pack house, we could hear Tiffany screaming profanities at the warriors. They clearly were not bothered by her words as they suddenly appeared with her in the doorway. Pushing Tiffany inside she fell to her hands and knees in the middle of my office. As she turned to scowl at the two warriors, I yelled, “Enough!”. She was startled and suddenly looked around the room realizing where she was. A look of fear crossed her face briefly before she smirked at me. She had the audacity to smirk. She stands in front of me, “You called for me, Alpha? Finally, had enough of your Luna?” she taunts. I see Jenna tense out of the corner of my eye, but she does not rise. I can
Jenna POV I try to get away from Adam scrambling on my hands and knees to get to my father. I hated him in this moment, but I did not want him to die. Adam held me back until he was certain the shooter was no longer a threat. He and Jack protected me with their bodies as we hurried to where my father had fallen. I immediately see that my father has a gun shot through the chest. I quickly role him and see that the bullet went through him. I am uncertain what might have been hit with the shot, but it is a good sign that the bullet went through him. I tell Adam so they can start looking to make sure the bullet did not strike anyone in the diner, while I go to work on my father. I do a discreet scan and see that his heart was nicked with the bullet but everything else is fine. I do a quick fix that does not require a lot of my healing efforts. I put my hand over the bullet hole and hold it there while his wolf tries to stop the bleeding. Bein
