Eric POV I felt rage overcome my body. I grabbed Jenna off the bed and tossed her against the wall. I knew she was not one hundred percent yet but her defeatist comment enraged me. I saw her small body slam against the wall and slide down to the ground. I felt some of the rage dissipate as I watched her crumpled body hit the floor. It took a moment before she moved. I felt a breath leave my body as I had feared I had killed her. She was my only hope to solve this problem. I had to rely on Jenna to save her. She was all that mattered to me. I slowly moved across the floor towards Jenna as she scrambled away from me backwards. I did not want her to be afraid of me, but she had to know what the cost was if she was not successful. I would not let her live. I could not have my secrets revealed and sadly she would have too much power. I would attempt to mark her once the healing was complete. She was beautiful and I could easily fall for her, if given
Jenna POV I woke up the next morning in agony. Everything still hurt. I was awoken last night to eat supper. I did only to try and build my strength, not because I was hungry. Every bite was a struggle to take. I just wanted to sleep and dreaded Eric coming to see me once again. But he never came, and I was relieved to have a reprieve from the psycho. I looked around my room needing to use the washroom. I go to the small area that you would call a bathroom. I used the washroom and freshened up as best I could. I needed a shower. I needed to feel human again. Instead, I was being treated like a prisoner. I would even take a cold wash in a stream at this point. As I walked out of the closet of a washroom, I was startled to see food there and Eric standing off to the side awaiting my arrival. He looks up from his phone and nods to me as if we were in a normal situation. I glare at him before moving forward to take my food tray to my bed
Adam POV As soon as I got back from the hospital, I called Sam and Jack to my office. I told them what I had found when I had seen Doctor Matthews. They agreed his response was a little too convenient. There is no way Jenna’s scent would linger to the level I had smelled it on him. He certainly would not have gotten it from a lab coat that had been in her locker for days. Something was not right with the doctor, and I would find out what it was. We had been watching the doctor for two days now. Two days longer that Jenna is missing. That Jenna could be being abused or used for her healing powers. There was nothing that the doctor did that changed his schedule. He worked long hours at the hospital. Then he went home. That was it. There were no other deviations from where he went. While he was at the hospital, we searched around his home. There were no scents of Jenna coming from the house. Jack had even gone a little rogue on us and e
Adam POV Tim was adamant the Rogue King was holding Jenna at the hospital. I could not imagine him taking a chance keeping her so close to everyone. If she was able to escape, she would be able to find her way quickly. But she had not escaped so far so whatever he was doing or wherever she was being kept prevented her from leaving. It did make sense that he was keeping her there. We had been tracking him for days and he only went between the hospital and his house. He was a creature of habit. Clearly, he had found a secure location to keep Jenna away from everyone else. I just hoped she had not been neglected all this time. We were in my office and Sam was looking up the hospital layout trying to determine where he could be holding her. As we looked over the blueprints, there were two sets Sam had managed to secure. One that ended with the morgue in the basement. We knew it would be too risky for the Rogue King to hold her in that area.
Adam POV As I catch Jenna, I fall with her. Her face is covered in blood. There is not a space that is clear. Blood is running from her eyes, nose, ears, and a small line of blood has started from her mouth. I squeeze her to me trying to give her my strength. I feel tears well up in my eyes. I fear we are too late. I pull her gently into my arms, standing as I do so. I need to get her back to our Pack hospital. I will need to come clean with Doctor Rivers and pray to the Moon Goddess he will know how to help Jenna. I look at my warriors surrounding Doctor Matthews. “Do not kill him; I want him alive!” I yell at them as I run out the door with Jenna. I need to get her help immediately. I trust my warriors and Sam and Jack. They will ensure we have an opportunity to question the Rogue King. And more importantly that we have the chance to torture him as he tortured my mate. Using my wolf speed, I run up the stairs and out the side door
Adam POV It has been three days since we rescued Jenna. Three days of her in a self-induced coma. Her body trying to protect her from more damage. We had hoped she would wake by now. The sparks as I connect with Jenna are still not as strong as they once were. I sat with her holding her day in and day out trying to give her my strength. Trying to give her something of me that would help her fight to come back to us. Her body remained cold no matter how hard we tried to warm it. Me holding her. Warm blankets. Nothing worked. Just cold, damp skin. Doctor Rivers was concerned. The longer she was in a coma, the more worried he became. His fear was that her wolf had gone dormant with the abuse they endured. With her wolf dormant she would basically be rendered human trying to heal at a human’s pace. For a wolf, this was not a good situation and would become more dire as the days progressed. We had been questioning the Rogue King, trying t
Adam POV “I am sure,” I reply to the Rogue King. Regardless of traitors or anyone else, I would ensure Jenna was safe from him. If I had to lose her to save her, I would do that. She was my everything. Turning away from the Rogue King as he laughed at my exit, I make my way back to the Pack house. I grab a shower before heading over to the Pack hospital. Sam and Jack corner me and force me to stop for supper. It had been days since I had sat down for a meal but I was distracted and wanting to go see Jenna. As soon as my last bite was done, I hurried over to the Pack hospital. I needed to get back to her. I needed to talk with Doctor Rivers. I wanted to share what I had learned with him and see what he would recommend to try and help Jenna. As I walked through the hospital doors, I immediately saw Doctor Rivers. He frowns when he sees me. “What happened?” I ask him anxiously. “Nothing, that is what is concerning me,” he re
Adam POV It has been another three days. We have been doing blood transfusions daily and are seeing some improvement. The Rogue King is still adamant that he could heal her faster; however, that is not an option. I will leave no opportunity for him to get his claws further into Jenna. Her warmth was returning and the mildew scent was fading. I could see her eyes moving behind her eyelids and I wondered what was torturing her rest. I could only imagine what she went through while being held captive by the Rogue King. Once she was awake, we would destroy him. Doctor Rivers was reluctant to allow that to happen as he was still unclear of the connection the Rogue King had with Jenna. He did not want to risk further damage getting rid of him before she returned to us. We continued to torture him. We were trying to get a sense of who this other person was who he wanted healed. He had referred to them a few times. As long as they were out the
Six months later ... Jenna POV I sat feeding my pup, Grace. She was the most beautiful little girl I had ever seen, but I am sure I am quite bias I think with a chuckle. She had dark hair like her daddy, and silver eyes like me with her angelic features. Adam was an amazing daddy to his little girl. He got up with me for all feedings and took her to his office often to give me a break. There was no me and him; it was one hundred percent us. I loved him more for that. Grace had been born two months ago. I do not know how, but I was blessed with a very quick labour and delivery. I suspect it had something to do with Gracie’s impatience at wanting to be born. She was ready to see this world and meet her family. We knew from the moment of her birth she had a strong aura. You knew you were in the presence of someone special. Her eyes were bright, and she has been aware of her surroundings since the first moment she opened them. It would n
Adam POV As I come through the forest and come upon the scene in front of me my heart sinks as I see yet another ring of rogues surrounding Jenna. I can see the two warriors in front of her being destroyed as Tim makes his way towards her. I roar my anger as Jake pounces forward destroying all rogues in his path. My only goal is to get to Jenna. When I heard from her it was Elder Fred who had betrayed us, I was filled with rage. I wanted to destroy him myself, but I see someone beat me to it as his insides are spilled out on the ground in front of Jenna. I know, from Jenna, that the Pack members present are unable to shift as they were affected by the wolfsbane. It also explains why they could not communicate with me. Fortunately, the rogues were not bothering with them, and I could see the women were pushing the children away as best they could without drawing attention to themselves. I make my way through the crowd of rogues along with th
Adam POV It felt great to have Sam back again. I am sure there is some story behind his mystery woman, but that would be a conversation over a cold beer once we cleared out the rogue situation. I shifted midstride, destroying my clothes but there was no time to stop and change. Our warriors were updating us that the numbers of rogues entering our territory were higher than we had seen before. They might be an army, but they were not a healed army so there would be disorganization amongst them. They would fight for so long before their own goals would shadow what the current head rogue wanted. And it concerned me that the head rogue could be Tim. He knew more about Jenna because of his connection to the Rogue King and Wendy. Clearly it put him at an advantage we would have preferred he not have. As I broke through the clearing, Sam and Jack were close on my heels. I could not believe what I saw. There were at least thirty rogues fighting o
Adam POV Jenna’s father was brought back into the courtroom. Her mother, Luna Ashley, was also brought in for her husband’s sentencing. She sits directly behind Alpha Gordon, with warriors on either side of her. Everyone was required to stand as the judges returned to their seats. They looked solemnly at those of us present. “There is no winning side in today’s proceedings,” the judge starts to say. “There is only room for justice. The atrocities committed by Alpha Gordon Frasier in the case of trying to kidnap his own daughter, in return assisting with the kidnapping of someone else, plus supporting the development of a rogue army leave us little wiggle room for sentencing anything less than life in prison,” the judge concludes his spiel. Jenna’s mother screams and the warriors must grab her to keep her from lunging toward the judges. Alpha Gordon slams his fist down on the table, breaking it in half as he stands also threatening the judg
Adam POV Since Jenna’s mother’s revelation that the rogues were coming for us, I have rallied our troops to get them ready for an impending attack. I have tried to reach Sam with no luck. It is unusual that I would not be able to reach him, but I had to assume he was having a good time. He was due back by the end of this week. I would worry if he did not show up then. Jenna’s mother disclosed nothing more than the statements, “I expect they will be here any time now.”. That had been a couple of days ago. Jenna had a lot of time for painstaking self-reflection during this time. Well reflection on her entire life. How parents could treat their daughter as they had was still beyond reproach to me. Jenna was also suffering thinking of Josie. Not lost on us was the fact that Eric tried to become her mate. That reflects how little everyone knew of the deceit of Jenna’s parents and the Rogue King himself. Had they known the truth, they may have avoided a
Jenna POV It had been a couple days since we had incarcerated my father. My mother had arrived with more flair than I had ever noticed before. When she first saw me, she walked over to me standing beside Adam and Jack. I had expected a hug. What I got was a slap in the face. The parking area echoed with the slap against my face. Adam quickly grabbed my mother’s arm breaking it. “How dare you touch my mate?” he yells at her. “Oh please, you did not want her in the beginning and now you expect me to believe you have changed. It is because she is a healer and the strength she brings to your Pack!” she shrieks. I cringe back hating being reminded of our start. And now I have to wonder if my parents ever really cared for me, or did they only like what I brought to the table? “Why did you bother keeping me a secret?” I ask her as she stands there nursing her broken arm. “What?” she asks me confused with my question. “Why didn’t you tell others I had he
Adam POV I could not believe what I was hearing. Like this made some kind of sense to Alpha Gordon. I could feel the tension and heartbreak that Jenna was feeling. I had wrapped my arms around her, feeling her coldness in the dank dungeons. I tried to move her, but she was standing firm. She was not finished with her father. “What do you get in return for turning me and Josie over?” Jenna asks her father. He looks at her confused. “Jenna, you are safe for now. They have Josie,” he says like he has saved her. “That’s just it, I am safe for now, what happens when they need me? Are you going to kidnap me yourself?” she asks her father. “Jenna, you always were so dramatic,” her father hisses. “What is the harm in healing the men and women to help them?” he asks her. We all look at him incredulously. “You want me to heal an army of rogues who want to destroy Packs?” she asks him slowly. It is like he does not see the harm of what he is sa
Adam POV Jenna had taken a seat on the couch. Jack was standing against the wall next to where she sat. And I was sitting behind my desk. I had been advised two warriors were on their way with Tiffany. The door was open in expectation of their arrival. As the warriors entered the Pack house, we could hear Tiffany screaming profanities at the warriors. They clearly were not bothered by her words as they suddenly appeared with her in the doorway. Pushing Tiffany inside she fell to her hands and knees in the middle of my office. As she turned to scowl at the two warriors, I yelled, “Enough!”. She was startled and suddenly looked around the room realizing where she was. A look of fear crossed her face briefly before she smirked at me. She had the audacity to smirk. She stands in front of me, “You called for me, Alpha? Finally, had enough of your Luna?” she taunts. I see Jenna tense out of the corner of my eye, but she does not rise. I can
Jenna POV I try to get away from Adam scrambling on my hands and knees to get to my father. I hated him in this moment, but I did not want him to die. Adam held me back until he was certain the shooter was no longer a threat. He and Jack protected me with their bodies as we hurried to where my father had fallen. I immediately see that my father has a gun shot through the chest. I quickly role him and see that the bullet went through him. I am uncertain what might have been hit with the shot, but it is a good sign that the bullet went through him. I tell Adam so they can start looking to make sure the bullet did not strike anyone in the diner, while I go to work on my father. I do a discreet scan and see that his heart was nicked with the bullet but everything else is fine. I do a quick fix that does not require a lot of my healing efforts. I put my hand over the bullet hole and hold it there while his wolf tries to stop the bleeding. Bein
