Jenna POV It was a gruelling day. We had an influx of new patients this morning to review. I was counting the hours down to when I could get home and put my feet up. I had managed to sneak out of the Pack house this morning before Adam had left for training. I did hear his door open as I skirted my way down the stairs. As I pulled out of the parking lot, I saw him open the Pack house door. He waved but I ignored him and kept on going. I had a chance to check on the little girl who we had seen yesterday. She was not doing any better today than what we had seen yesterday. Since she is my patient today, I get to explore a little more of what is going on. I still need time alone with her and preferably when she is sleeping. This ends up better for me. Then people do not necessarily remember seeing me or feeling me heal them. There were a variety of tests scheduled for the little girl today. I wanted to check her out myself so that I could better guide
Adam POV I watch for Jenna to arrive back to the Pack house. She was not too late and there was still time to make the announcement. As I saw her pull into her parking spot, I see her jump out of her car and grab her shopping bags. I see her bounce up the stairs with a big smile on her lips. She walks into the front door, and I step around the door to welcome her. Because she is not expecting me, she jumps back, to which I laugh. She growls at me for startling her and proceeds to carry on into the Pack house. “Where have you been, my lovely mate?” I ask her. She looks at me suspiciously. She clearly has not forgiven and forgotten last evening, but I would not let that deter me from trying to turn things around. “Just shopping. You know us spoiled, rich girls,” she says as she turns to continue across the front hall and turning up the stairs. “Hold up, aren’t you hungry after all that shopping?” I ask her. If she wasn’t going to fess u
Jenna POV As soon as we were free of wandering eyes, I tugged my hand from Adam’s grip. He tried to hang on, but I tugged until he sighed and let go. We reached the top of the stairs and I turned towards my room. Adam asks, “Don’t you want your shopping bags?”. I cringe at his voice, realizing he had said he had it in his room. Turning I slowly walk back towards him as he turns to go into his room. I had only been in here once and it had stunk of Wendy. As I walk through the door to quickly grab my bags, I only smell Adam. It smells fresh like fresh linens combined with Adam’s scent of pine and vanilla. I was still in a rush to leave, when he moves forward passing me the bag and letting his hand linger on mine. “What game are you playing?” I ask him. “What do you mean what game?” he asks letting his hand drop. “We don’t like each other, remember? So why are you putting on a show when nobody is here?” I demand. “Maybe I am willing to ad
Adam POV Sitting in the chair waiting for Jenna, I look up to see tears in Jenna’s eyes. Standing, I move forward to her and take her into my arms. She goes easily and I hold her tightly as she just leans on me. I heard a lot of what was happening in the room. I heard the strength in Jenna’s voice as she talked the she-wolf through what sounded like a challenging deliver. Let’s be real. Delivering babies was not for the faint of heart, which is why men weren’t the ones to do it. I couldn’t believe how proud I was of her. This young woman, my mate, delivered a healthy pup just minutes ago. She released me wiping her eyes. “Sorry, I just find birth such a miracle,” she murmurs as she moves away from me. I had never thought of it before, but hearing it from the outside of the room, it was an amazing event. Looking at her watch, Jenna sighs. “Why don’t you head back to the Pack house and get some rest?” I say to her. “Yes, I will. I have
Jenna POV I had finished with the warrior quickly. I did have to clean out some infection before I was able to stitch him up. Left for a couple hours and I don’t know that antibiotics would have been enough to heal him. Looking at my watch, I realize I have just enough time to grab my things and rush to the hospital for my next shift. I was exhausted but this was often the life of a doctor – rushing from emergency to emergency. I felt a twang of concern leaving the Pack without a doctor; however, I had to get moving to look after my patients today. I was most interested in the results for Jessica on the toxicology reports. Running up the stairs, I get to my room and leave the door open as I run to grab my backpack. Fortunately, I had packed it last night, so I didn’t waste any time getting ready other than throwing on an outfit and I turned to leave. I walk out my door to Adam coming up the stairs. He looks equally exhausted at the evenin
Adam POV I had woken up early afternoon, feeling guilty for my last words to Jenna. I had no right to question her commitment after she spent the night looking after my Pack members. Particularly when our own Pack doctor had frigged off. He was next on my list of duties, after I checked in with Sam and Jack. Grabbing a quick shower, I throw on jeans and a black t-shirt. I had no meetings today, so it wasn’t necessary to be dressed for business. I make my way down to the dining hall to grab a coffee. I was late for lunch, and I would not expect my Omegas to prepare something for me, even though they had offered. Coffee would suffice until supper. Mind-linking Sam and Jack to meet me in my office, I started to walk out of the dining hall when I saw Wendy waiting in the lobby. “What the hell are you doing here?” I ask Wendy. She knew she wasn’t permitted in the Pack house as part of her punishment. I had moved her to the Omegas lodging after
Adam POV I walked back out of the cells and made my way to the Pack house. I walked around to the front and was surprised to see Jenna’s car in the parking lot. I was more surprised to see her sitting in her car staring straight ahead. She looked lost. I walked over to her car and opened her car door. I bent down trying to ask her what was wrong, but she would not reply to me. She didn’t even look at me. I took her arm, which startled her into awareness. I gently pulled her out of the car, helping her to stand when she seemed shaky on her feet. I noticed her purse and bag across the seat, so I leaned Jenna against the car while I reached across and got her stuff before standing and softly closing the door. I took her elbow and started to walk her across the parking lot toward the Pack house. Sam walked out looking at me concerned. I shook my head indicating I didn’t know what was going on. I continued to walk forward, and Sam held the
Adam POV I made my way back to Jenna’s room to retrieve her cell phone. I looked around her room but didn’t see it. It must be in her backpack. I move over to open it and notice a funny smell associated with the bag. Almost like it is a clinical smell. Similar to the smells at the Pack hospital. Opening the bag I see a used pair of scrubs, which I toss into her laundry basket. Rooting through I still don’t see her phone. Realizing I had missed her purse, I look around and spot it on the table beside her bed. Opening that I root around. Man how do women find anything in these satchels, I wonder to myself. I finally find her phone when I also find stuck to it an identification card. Doctor Jenna Frasier, from a hospital about an hour or so away from the Pack. What the hell did she have this for? Who is this woman? She’s supposed to be a spoiled rich girl. Does she volunteer at the hospital and is faking being a doctor? I have no idea, but I know
Six months later ... Jenna POV I sat feeding my pup, Grace. She was the most beautiful little girl I had ever seen, but I am sure I am quite bias I think with a chuckle. She had dark hair like her daddy, and silver eyes like me with her angelic features. Adam was an amazing daddy to his little girl. He got up with me for all feedings and took her to his office often to give me a break. There was no me and him; it was one hundred percent us. I loved him more for that. Grace had been born two months ago. I do not know how, but I was blessed with a very quick labour and delivery. I suspect it had something to do with Gracie’s impatience at wanting to be born. She was ready to see this world and meet her family. We knew from the moment of her birth she had a strong aura. You knew you were in the presence of someone special. Her eyes were bright, and she has been aware of her surroundings since the first moment she opened them. It would n
Adam POV As I come through the forest and come upon the scene in front of me my heart sinks as I see yet another ring of rogues surrounding Jenna. I can see the two warriors in front of her being destroyed as Tim makes his way towards her. I roar my anger as Jake pounces forward destroying all rogues in his path. My only goal is to get to Jenna. When I heard from her it was Elder Fred who had betrayed us, I was filled with rage. I wanted to destroy him myself, but I see someone beat me to it as his insides are spilled out on the ground in front of Jenna. I know, from Jenna, that the Pack members present are unable to shift as they were affected by the wolfsbane. It also explains why they could not communicate with me. Fortunately, the rogues were not bothering with them, and I could see the women were pushing the children away as best they could without drawing attention to themselves. I make my way through the crowd of rogues along with th
Adam POV It felt great to have Sam back again. I am sure there is some story behind his mystery woman, but that would be a conversation over a cold beer once we cleared out the rogue situation. I shifted midstride, destroying my clothes but there was no time to stop and change. Our warriors were updating us that the numbers of rogues entering our territory were higher than we had seen before. They might be an army, but they were not a healed army so there would be disorganization amongst them. They would fight for so long before their own goals would shadow what the current head rogue wanted. And it concerned me that the head rogue could be Tim. He knew more about Jenna because of his connection to the Rogue King and Wendy. Clearly it put him at an advantage we would have preferred he not have. As I broke through the clearing, Sam and Jack were close on my heels. I could not believe what I saw. There were at least thirty rogues fighting o
Adam POV Jenna’s father was brought back into the courtroom. Her mother, Luna Ashley, was also brought in for her husband’s sentencing. She sits directly behind Alpha Gordon, with warriors on either side of her. Everyone was required to stand as the judges returned to their seats. They looked solemnly at those of us present. “There is no winning side in today’s proceedings,” the judge starts to say. “There is only room for justice. The atrocities committed by Alpha Gordon Frasier in the case of trying to kidnap his own daughter, in return assisting with the kidnapping of someone else, plus supporting the development of a rogue army leave us little wiggle room for sentencing anything less than life in prison,” the judge concludes his spiel. Jenna’s mother screams and the warriors must grab her to keep her from lunging toward the judges. Alpha Gordon slams his fist down on the table, breaking it in half as he stands also threatening the judg
Adam POV Since Jenna’s mother’s revelation that the rogues were coming for us, I have rallied our troops to get them ready for an impending attack. I have tried to reach Sam with no luck. It is unusual that I would not be able to reach him, but I had to assume he was having a good time. He was due back by the end of this week. I would worry if he did not show up then. Jenna’s mother disclosed nothing more than the statements, “I expect they will be here any time now.”. That had been a couple of days ago. Jenna had a lot of time for painstaking self-reflection during this time. Well reflection on her entire life. How parents could treat their daughter as they had was still beyond reproach to me. Jenna was also suffering thinking of Josie. Not lost on us was the fact that Eric tried to become her mate. That reflects how little everyone knew of the deceit of Jenna’s parents and the Rogue King himself. Had they known the truth, they may have avoided a
Jenna POV It had been a couple days since we had incarcerated my father. My mother had arrived with more flair than I had ever noticed before. When she first saw me, she walked over to me standing beside Adam and Jack. I had expected a hug. What I got was a slap in the face. The parking area echoed with the slap against my face. Adam quickly grabbed my mother’s arm breaking it. “How dare you touch my mate?” he yells at her. “Oh please, you did not want her in the beginning and now you expect me to believe you have changed. It is because she is a healer and the strength she brings to your Pack!” she shrieks. I cringe back hating being reminded of our start. And now I have to wonder if my parents ever really cared for me, or did they only like what I brought to the table? “Why did you bother keeping me a secret?” I ask her as she stands there nursing her broken arm. “What?” she asks me confused with my question. “Why didn’t you tell others I had he
Adam POV I could not believe what I was hearing. Like this made some kind of sense to Alpha Gordon. I could feel the tension and heartbreak that Jenna was feeling. I had wrapped my arms around her, feeling her coldness in the dank dungeons. I tried to move her, but she was standing firm. She was not finished with her father. “What do you get in return for turning me and Josie over?” Jenna asks her father. He looks at her confused. “Jenna, you are safe for now. They have Josie,” he says like he has saved her. “That’s just it, I am safe for now, what happens when they need me? Are you going to kidnap me yourself?” she asks her father. “Jenna, you always were so dramatic,” her father hisses. “What is the harm in healing the men and women to help them?” he asks her. We all look at him incredulously. “You want me to heal an army of rogues who want to destroy Packs?” she asks him slowly. It is like he does not see the harm of what he is sa
Adam POV Jenna had taken a seat on the couch. Jack was standing against the wall next to where she sat. And I was sitting behind my desk. I had been advised two warriors were on their way with Tiffany. The door was open in expectation of their arrival. As the warriors entered the Pack house, we could hear Tiffany screaming profanities at the warriors. They clearly were not bothered by her words as they suddenly appeared with her in the doorway. Pushing Tiffany inside she fell to her hands and knees in the middle of my office. As she turned to scowl at the two warriors, I yelled, “Enough!”. She was startled and suddenly looked around the room realizing where she was. A look of fear crossed her face briefly before she smirked at me. She had the audacity to smirk. She stands in front of me, “You called for me, Alpha? Finally, had enough of your Luna?” she taunts. I see Jenna tense out of the corner of my eye, but she does not rise. I can
Jenna POV I try to get away from Adam scrambling on my hands and knees to get to my father. I hated him in this moment, but I did not want him to die. Adam held me back until he was certain the shooter was no longer a threat. He and Jack protected me with their bodies as we hurried to where my father had fallen. I immediately see that my father has a gun shot through the chest. I quickly role him and see that the bullet went through him. I am uncertain what might have been hit with the shot, but it is a good sign that the bullet went through him. I tell Adam so they can start looking to make sure the bullet did not strike anyone in the diner, while I go to work on my father. I do a discreet scan and see that his heart was nicked with the bullet but everything else is fine. I do a quick fix that does not require a lot of my healing efforts. I put my hand over the bullet hole and hold it there while his wolf tries to stop the bleeding. Bein
