In my ninth year of being with Tyler Freeman, he flaunts his relationships with other women while I'm only allowed to come and go from his bedroom. He doesn't acknowledge me as his girlfriend, yet he allows his friends to address me as such. I have a name but not an identity. His friends are bored during a private party and want me to perform a strip dance on stage to liven things up. I expect Tyler to at least turn them down on my behalf, but all he does is sip his wine and say, "Go on. You're the owner of this place, aren't you? Aren't clubs supposed to satisfy their patrons' needs? Don't let my friends down!" I look at him emotionlessly. I don't cry or throw a fuss. Instead, I splash a glass of liquor in his face. The following day, I trash the club. Three months later, Tyler finally thinks of calling me. "Where are you? Aren't you gonna get the hell back here? Do you really expect me to beg you to come back? Do you think you're worthy of that?" I pull my newlywed husband to the camera. "Sorry, Mr. Freeman. I'm getting married. You don't need to come, but do get me a wedding gift." Unexpectedly, he threatens to show my husband intimate videos of me when he sees me in a wedding gown.

Chapter 1

Chapter 1

It was my ninth year being together with Tyler Freeman. Today, I planned to confront him in order to clarify our relationship.

I called him, but like always, he rejected my call.

In the next moment, his message popped up—unsurprisingly—at the top of my list of WhatsApp messages.

"Third floor."

His superiority emanated from those two simple words.

The most luxurious private clubhouse in Burgton City was where Tyler and his bunch of friends typically gathered.

As the person who had been by his side the longest, I was already used to his domineering attitude.

Hastily, I changed out of my plain-looking clothes, which I actually preferred. Instead, I slipped on his favorite form-fitting red dress before heading to the private room where he was.

Just as I got to the door, I heard joyful laughter coming from the men and women in the room.

Chapter 2
Despite all the noise in the room, I managed to identify Tyler's voice out of everyone else's. Like always, his voice was nonchalant, chill, with a hint of contempt. "Jasmine Murray? It's been nine years. I'm so over sleeping with her." A crisp "click" came from a lighter. Tyler took a deep puff of his cigarette and continued, "If you slept with a woman for nine years, won't you get sick of her?" The person he was speaking with agreed, "That's quite boring indeed. But, I've gotta say—although Jasmine was just a young lady when she first got together with you, she has grown to look a lot more like a woman now." "She was a young lady at 21, but Jasmine has matured in her 30s." "One would grow attached to a dog after that long, let alone a human being. " Laughter came from those in the room. Tyler remarked in a casual voice, "Regardless of whether she's a dog or a person, isn't she staying by my side willingly? It's not like I put a collar around her neck." After he said

Chapter 3
The moment I entered the private room, I noticed Tyler sitting at the head of the table. He was wearing a neatly-made suit and a black shirt with only a few buttons done up. The ring I gave to him five years ago glistened on the middle finger of his right hand as he leaned back on the couch lazily. The ring no longer had the dazzle it used to have in the beginning. Rather, it appeared dull in contrast to the bright room. When Tyler saw that I had entered the room without knocking, he frowned and shot me a glare. The woman in his lap gave me a provocative look too."Well, well. That was really quick, Jas. You managed to reach before even three minutes passed since Ty messaged you." "You're afraid that you'd pissed Ty off, aren't you?" Once those people saw me, they mocked me as they leaned sideways on the couch. There was not a single glint of respect in their eyes. In the next moment, one of the sleazeballs said, "You've got such a great figure, Jasmine. I can see your

Tyler spewed vulgarities continuously like a madman. He no longer looked like the gentle and elegant man he usually was. "That's enough, Tyler. Weren't you the one who permitted this denigrating behavior of theirs?" Tyler stopped because of what I said. "I heard what you people talked about from outside the room, and I didn't want to come in here." I took a deep breath. As I held my tears back, I continued in a shaky voice, "Even so, I wanted to clarify what was going on." Tyler knew what I was about to ask. There was a long, long silence. Tyler stood up and straightened his suit. Then, he wiped the blood off of his fist. Looking at me with his eyes narrowed, he said, "I don't know anything about the video. I've never recorded anything."He sounded like he was explaining himself, but he said so with such an arrogant and prideful tone. It was as if his explanation was a gift bestowed on me by the heavens. "About our relationship, it is what it is. If you're sick of it,

I clenched onto my bag tightly as I hurried out of the corridor. As I was rushing, I didn't see where I was going and ended up bumping into someone accidentally. The man held me by my shoulders. Then, I heard him saying in an euphonious voice, "I'm sorry. Are you okay?" "I-I'm fine…" Tempted to curl myself up into my coat, I kept my head down. "You don't look like you're okay. Do you need help?" he probed again. I lifted my head and took a glance at the man with a pleasant-sounding voice. The man had the bearing of an elite businessman. He was in a black, smart-looking suit, and he had buttoned his shirt all the way up to his neck. Even his hair was meticulously styled. "Why are the both of you tugging at one another? What are you doing?" Tyler yelled out at me from the other end of the corridor after he dashed out after me. He stormed over. His shiny leather shoes against the red carpet appeared heavy and solemn, giving him an air of superiority. He jeered, "I see

Southhope City was a place with beautiful scenery and a pleasant culture. Nevertheless, no matter how picturesque a place was, it could not cure the pain of being broke. Thanks to a friend's recommendation, I found a job as a model. First thing the next morning, I stood at the door to an artist's studio. To my surprise, the artist did not look like the image of a typical artist I had in my mind. The pale-looking Matthias Finley had black-framed glasses perched on his nose and wore a casual cotton shirt and pants that gave him the bearing of a stoic man. Even though he had the same face as the elite businessman who saved me from my predicament in the corridor, he carried a completely different air as the man the other day. After staring at me for a long while, he uttered courteously, "You have stunning eyes." Perhaps an artists' way of thinking was different from an average person. Uttering a compliment came so naturally to him. With a smile on my face, I said, "How coul

I couldn't be sure if it was because I finally met someone to talk with, or if it was because I had kept my feelings suppressed for too long.I found myself opening up completely even to the man whom I had only met two times. Our conversation around the dinner table extended to the car. Because I had something to drink, I started to lose control over my emotions. I berated Tyler at the top of my lungs, calling him every name I could think of and insulting everyone in his family. As I admonished him, I ended up in tears. While I was in daze, I felt like someone had carried me out of the car. In the middle of the night, an ear-piercing ringing tone blasted in the room. Dazedly, I felt around for my phone. Someone swiped to answer the call for me, then stuffed my phone in my hand. "Hey." Just as I was about to answer, my voice became muffled as a kiss on my lips took me by surprise. This assertive and domineering kiss made me feel like I could not push him away. Meanwhile

Tyler's friend urged, "Ty, if you have no other choice, just apologize. She has been running this clubhouse for quite a few years. "The fact that she could bear to trash it shows that she's really been hurt this time…" "I've taught a lesson to the man who told her to strip the other day. What else does she want me to do?" All of a sudden, Tyler flew into a rage. "I have been respectful enough to her. It's up to her if she wants to come back. "I can own as many clubhouses as I want. Without Jasmine, there are many other women who would throw themselves at me. Not having her around makes no difference." "Fine, it's no difference. But you'd better stop requesting those other women to put on thick makeup and tight dresses. "It's obvious that they want to present an image of purity and innocence. Yet, you're forcing them to change. I can't believe you even showed them Jasmine's photo so that they could learn from her. That's such a drag…" Tyler's face turned darker and darker

When I woke up the next morning, I stared blankly at the unfamiliar room. A knock on the door interrupted my thoughts. "Come have breakfast if you're awake," Matthias urged from the other side of the door. It was obvious that he was unusually chirpy. After washing up, I sat down at the dining table. The fragrance of hot pockets and chips wafted into the living room. This was the first time someone actually displayed such an accurate understanding of my food preferences. I always liked to have Allisean-style breakfasts while Tyler preferred Wellish-style bacon and cheese. When we first got together, I would make both types of breakfast. With time, I ended up accommodating him and having Wellish-style breakfasts with him. Before I could even ask, Matthias handed a plate of food to me. This was my first time enjoying the feeling of being attended to. Because of the kiss last night, it felt a little awkward to face him. He looked quite indifferent, though. He fixed hi

I was taken aback momentarily, staring at Matthias in disbelief. He blushed. Subconsciously, he interlocked his fingers as he stared at me through those misty eyes of his. He gulped nervously. "What kind of a person do you think I am? I'm not an easy woman. Let's just say that the kiss last night was a drunken mistake," I said awkwardly as I clenched my fists around the tablecloth under the table. Matthias tensed up when he heard my rejection. "No, no. It wasn't a mistake. It was a calculated move on my part. "I'm seeing you as someone I have feelings for." He let out a long exhale, as if a burden were lifted off his shoulders. "Do you really not remember me, Jazzy?" The nickname "Jazzy" called forth memories from my youth. In my memory, there was a chubby boy who loved addressing me as such but refused to allow others to use the same nickname. The image of his face gradually overlapped with this handsome man before my eyes. Matthias pulled out a photo from his wallet.
