A runaway bride

A woman's wedding should feel like the best day of her life, but as Mrs. Smith zipped up Carmen's gown zipper, she felt like she was suffocating.

It was her second time wearing the perfect wedding dress, and yet the second time felt just as terrible as the first.

“I must be one of the most unlucky brides,” Carmen mumbled, watching the sunlight crept through the window.

“Why would you say that? Dax is the sweetest and most honest man on this planet and you should feel lucky that you are marrying him.” Mrs. Smith said, reaching for the diamond necklace.

“Then why don't I feel that way, mom?”

“Love will develop, honey. Give it time.”

It grew silent as Carmen's fingers traced against the necklace and sadly smiled.

“You look like a princess.” Mrs. Smith mumbled, wiping her tears with a napkin.

“Thanks, mom,” Carmen whispered, holding in her urge to cry.
