“Why isn't she answering? Did something happen?” Liam mumbled while staring at Carmen's name blinking on his phone.
After the fifth call, Liam grabbed his jacket, his keys, and rushed out of the bedroom while struggling to wear his coat.
A few minutes later, he was seated behind the steering wheel, then it hit him.
“Where's the conference held again? Damn, I knew I should have been there with her!” Liam muttered in frustration.
Then he opened his browser, searching for any news about the press conference, but when he found nothing, Liam worried only intensified.
At this point, his mind was swimming with random thoughts, and none of them was positive. So without thinking soundly, he started the car and drove off, not knowing exactly where he was heading.
After driving around the city to most of the luxurious hotels and buildings he knew, Liam finally got a call from Carmen. He hastily stepped on the brake before answering the call.
“Morning, beautiful,” Liam mumbled as he stood at the bathroom door, watching Carmen brush her teeth. As she glanced at him, the corner of her mouth lifted. Then she gazed back at his reflection in the mirror while smiling with her eyes. The moment Carmen spit out the toothpaste, she felt Liam's hands around her waist, his fingers gently resting on her stomach and his body against her. Then he slowly turned her around and before Carmen could get the chance to react, his lips were against hers, and she felt her heart do a somersault when his tongue tangled with hers as his hand slowly slipped under her pajama shirt.“You taste like toothpaste.” Liam teased after their lips had parted.“Because I am brushing my teeth,” Carmen mumbled before playfully pushing Liam off of her.But she felt his hand on her hip, pulling her closer to him. Then he locked Carmen in his arms and whispered into her ear, “Which
The living room grew still for minutes, then Liam folded the paper, walked over to Ali, and placed it inside her palm. Then he frowned and coldly said, “I will be there for the ultrasound, and if you are truly pregnant, I want a DNA test done.”In a fate of rage, Ali squeezed the sheet and tossed it to the ground. Then she gazed at Liam and shouted, “Fine! And if this pregnancy is yours like I know it is, then what next?”Those words caught Liam off guard, and yet he managed to hide his anxiety behind the calmness in his eyes.“I will own up to my responsibility,” Liam said with a frown.“The last I heard, she doesn't know who the father of her unborn child is. So if it's not you, are you going to make our kid a bastard just so you can keep your relationship with her and take care of another man's child?” Ali rudely asked with a look of disgust on her face as she stared at Carmen.“Shut up!” Liam shouted. When he gazed at her, Ali could see
The week went by naturally. But for Carmen, it felt like the longest, most torturing moments of her life, and as her eyes slowly opened to the light of a new day, she drew her knee towards her chest and curled into a ball. When she heard a knock on her room door, she hastily squeezed her eyelids shut and hugged onto the pillow.“Carm, are you awake?” Liam mumbled. When he didn't get an answer from her, he rested his back against the door, hung his head, and sighed.Today counted as the eighth day, he and Carmen had been sleeping in separate rooms, and they had been avoiding each other the entire time.Even though it tore him to wake up alone in bed and walked past her without uttering a word, he still wanted to give her the space she needed. However, right now, Liam felt as though they were slowly drifting apart because of that. But it relieved him that after today things were going to be different since it was finally the day fo
‘It’s finally over.’ Carmen thought with her head facing the windshield as she watched other vehicles pass by.However, her heart still felt heavy and her mind felt drained when negative thoughts began to crowd her head, leaving her too exhausted to cry or think straight, so she closed her eyes and allowed herself to sink into a field of nothingness.“Does it hurt anywhere?” Dax asked, taking his eyes off the road for a second to stare at her.“No,” Carmen whispered without raising hereyelids.Even though she was in pain, it was not the kind of feeling she wanted to explain to Dax since it will only leave him hurt.Silence fell between them for a moment, then Dax softly sighed and said, “Whatever result we get tomorrow, I hope we can still be friends. You are an amazing woman, Carmen, and I still want to be in your life even if it’s not in a romantic way.”After two seconds had pass
Even though she could feel the sunlight reflecting on her face, Carmen refused to open her eyes, and every time she thought about the DNA result, her arms hugged onto the pillow while she squeezed her eyelids.“Are you awake?” Mrs. Smith called out as she knocked on her daughter's bedroom door. After knocking a few times, she stopped and patiently waited for a response from Carmen. But when she got none, she knocked again and said, “Do you know that it's one o'clock already? How long do you plan to stay in your room? Come out, Dax is waiting for you downstairs with a package.”Those words forced Carmen to slowly open her eyes. Then she sluggishly got out of bed and dragged her feet as she walked into the bathroom. When she stood at the basin, Carmen looked at her stomach reflection, softly smiled, and mumbled, “Baby, are you ready to know your father?”Mr. Smith, Mr. Wilson, and Dax patiently waited
"He was never mine" has several plotlines, and right now I am trying to follow the series of events that takes place before the story comes to an end. I know that my readers may not be happy with setting occurrences that may or have taken place in the story, and I understand that. However, this is just a reminder to my dear readers that this novel hasn't exhausted all its plot yet. So please be patient with this poor author and give the story the chance to develop before we start making conclusions. Thank you guys for reading, spending your cash on my novel, and reviewing. I appreciate you all so much and have a great day.
The loud knocking sound echoed into Liam's ears, forcing him to open his eyes. Then he sat up, glanced at the empty wine bottle, and stood from the couch.“What is it?” Liam mumbled the moment he opened the door.“What happened between Carmen and you?!” Max asked with worry in his eyes.“What are you talking about?”“Dax and Carmen are getting married a day from now. It's everywhere on the news. I th…”Before Max could end his statement, Liam slammed the door in his face. Then a few seconds later, he came out with his car key.“Where are you going! At least, let me drop you. Those dark circles around your eyes tell me you didn't sleep well.” Max screamed, watching Liam head towards his car.The sound of the vehicle engine was the only response Max got as Liam drove out of the yard.“He's stubborn as a mute. I hope he doesn't do anything stupid.&rdquo
A woman's wedding should feel like the best day of her life, but as Mrs. Smith zipped up Carmen's gown zipper, she felt like she was suffocating. It was her second time wearing the perfect wedding dress, and yet the second time felt just as terrible as the first.“I must be one of the most unlucky brides,” Carmen mumbled, watching the sunlight crept through the window.“Why would you say that? Dax is the sweetest and most honest man on this planet and you should feel lucky that you are marrying him.” Mrs. Smith said, reaching for the diamond necklace.“Then why don't I feel that way, mom?”“Love will develop, honey. Give it time.”It grew silent as Carmen's fingers traced against the necklace and sadly smiled.“You look like a princess.” Mrs. Smith mumbled, wiping her tears with a napkin.“Thanks, mom,” Carmen whispered, holding in her urge to cry.A
