Ariadne awoke to the sound of a beeping machine. She opened her eyes only to be hit by a bright light, and immediately closed them.
"Are you feeling better?" A voice came from nearby. She opened her eyes again, and saw Jennifer standing beside her bed. Looking around, Ariadne realized she was in hospital. "Why am I here?" her voice was hoarse. "You fainted at home, so we brought you to the hospital." Ariadne furrowed her brows as she tried to recall what had happened. She felt a wave of pain sweep over her as the memory struck her like a truck. She recalled being called by Xander's lawyer to inform her about the divorce. 'He wants divorce.' She repeated in her mind. She had been hoping for two years that everything would work out, but she was wrong and her worst nightmare had come true. Her eyes welled up with tears. "Hey, what happened? Why are you crying?"Jennifer sensed that something was wrong. "You are alright, there's nothing wrong with your health, don't cry, Aria." Jennifer became alarmed upon seing her condition. Ariadne kept crying without saying anything. "Aria? Are you listening to me?" Jennifer grabbed her shoulder when she didn't get any answer. Ariadne looked at Jennifer with tear filled eyes. "He wants divorce, Jennifer." Ariadne said before buring her face between her knees and sobbed. Jennifer was rendered speechless by what she had just heard. She quickly grasped the gravity of the situation. She felt bad for her friend. She was aware of Ariadne's deep love for Xander. Unfortunately, Xander never reciprocated her feelings, and always treated her coldly. However, Ariadne endured all his mistreatment silently as she was afraid of losing him. Jennifer sat down and hugged her. They remained silent for a while. Jennifer allowed her to gather herself a little. "Don't loss hope, Aria. Perhaps you can still save your marriage." after sometime Jennifer broke the silence. "How? By refusing to sign the divorce papers?" Ariadne turned towards Jennifer. "But he will just hate me more. It will not fix anything." she wiped the tears from her face as she sighed in defeat. "I have some news for you." she looked at jennifer's glistening eyes, puzzled. "What is it?" "You are pregnant." Jennifer declared with a smile. Ariadne gasped in shock. "What? How?" She was utterly confused but then realization dawned on her. "Is this true Jennifer? Are you sure?" she grabbed Jennifer's shoulder in excitement. "Yes, you are six weeks pregnant." Ariadne covered her mouth with her hands as her eyes welled up with tears again, but this time it was from joy. However, she paled the next moment. "But what if he blames me again, and does not want the child?" she asked, her voice filled with fear. "Stop thinking negatively. No man can abandon his child, no matter how heartless he is. Perhaps he will reconsider the divorce for the sake of the child. Maybe he will start to love you as well. Don't loss hope." Jennifer could not bear to see her like this, and only wanted the best for her friend. Ariadne's eyes glowed with newfound hope. ..... Later in the evening, Ariadne sat excitedly on the sofa of their mansion, waiting for Xander. When she returned from the hospital, she received a surprise call from Xander informing her of his arrival. She prepared his favourite dishes as always. She also dressed up and applied light make-up to her face. She wanted to appear confident and beautiful in front of Xander. She didn't want him to notice her dull face. When the door bell rang, she didn't go to open it this time. A maid opened the door. After some time, Xander appeared in the living area, where Ariadne was sitting on the couch. She stood up, excited, as soon as she saw him. However, her face darkened, as she saw Crystal right behind him, again. "How are you doing, Aria? I heard you fainted in the morning and rushed to the hospital. Are you okay now?" Crystal expressed her concern, making Ariadne want to roll her eyes. If she had cared, she would have paid her a visit at the hospital. However, except for Jennifer, no one visited her. Grandpa William would have visited her, but his health had deteriorated recently, so he called her to check on her. She had no idea why Crystal was here today. She hadn't commented on her regular meeting with Xander untill now, despite feeling insecure. Now she couldn't even have some peace in her own house. Crystal began to accompany Xander whenever he visited the mansion. She was losing her mind. "Yes, I am fine." Ariadne answered with a rude tone. Crystal noticed but didn't say anything, instead looking at Xander, as if complaining to him. 'Is he going to lecture me on my manners again?' she wondered. "My lawyer called you this morning. He said your conversation was cut short because you fainted. I, therefore, came here personally to talk about it. Here are the divorce papers." he pointed to the file, he was holding. He went straight to the point without wasting any time. Ariadne stared at him, motionless. He never asked her how she was doing, despite knowing she had been hospitalized earlier that day. His only concern was the divorce. She was disappointed. She was nervous about telling Xander about her pregnancy, and Crystal's presence made the situation more difficult for her. However, she needed to inform him because it was her last hope of saving her marriage. "I have something to tell you." Ariadne glanced at Crystal before adding, "Alone." Crystal furrowed her brows. "I don't want to hear anything, Ariadne. I know what it could be about. But you can't change my mind about the divorce. I want a divorce, and that is final." Xander said, looking directly into her eyes. "It's not what you are thinking. Listen to me once. Please." she pleaded desperately. "Don't make it hard, Ariadne. I am willing to pay you alimony, if you want." Ariadne's eyes filled with tears. She hated herself for being so weak as she did not want to cry infront of them, especially Crystal. "Just listen to me once, this is important, Xander." she repeated. She did not like having this conversation in front of Crystal. It was clear from the faint smirk on Crystal's face that she was thoroughly enjoying the show. "If she is insisting, why don't you listen to her, Xander?" Crystal said to him. "I don't have time to waste on her. If she wants to say something, she must say it in front of you." Xander grew irritated by Ariadne's pleading. Ariadne felt humiliated. "I am your wife, Xander. And it's about us. Why did you bring her into my house in the first place?" she could no longer contain her rage. "Keep your mouth shut, and don't try to be brave. It will do you no good. Don't forget that this is my house, and I have allowed you to live here. You are not the one to decide who should and shouldn't come into this house." Xander warned her, gritting his teeth. Ariadne couldn't believe he would say that. "Here are the divorce papers. I want them signed by tomorrow evening." Xander threw the file on the couch. "What if I don't sign them?" Ariadne became both frustrated and furious. He could've done this in their own privacy. 'Why must he bring the woman whom she despises the most and humiliate her in front of her?' "Aria, I am sorry, we have something to tell you. I.." Xander stopped Crystal by raising his hand. "Crystal is pregnant... with my child. So you will sign the divorce papers without causing any fuss." Right at that moment, everything came to a halt for Ariadne. The tears, which she was trying hard to hold back, streamed down her cheeks. The words had been ringing in her ears. 'No, she might have misheard it.' she told herself. "Wha.. what did you say?" Her voice trembled. "I am sorry, Aria..it was..." "Just shut your mouth, I didnt ask you anything. I am asking this person, who is my so-called husband. " she interrupted Crystal, her gaze fixed on Xander. For the first time, Xander saw fire in her eyes. He was taken aback for a moment. "Crystal is pregnant with my child and...." a wave of rage swept through Ariadne, and she stepped forward and slapped Xander hard, not allowing him to finish his words. Crystal gasped and covered her mouth with her hands. "How could you do this to me? How could you?" Ariadne grabbed Xander's collar. "I have loved you all my life. As your wife, I endured every single mistreatment of you and so many people for two years. And you cheated on me in the end." Her eyes reflected rage and hurt. Xander was caught off guard. No one had ever dared to talk to him in a high tone, let alone slap him. His eyes turned red with fury. He did not expect her to react like this. "Don't act like a victim here. You are responsible for this." Xander said, grabbing her hands and yanking them roughly from his collar. She collapsed defeatedly onto the couch. "Sign the divorce papers without causing any drama. And don't try any dirty tricks again, because this time they won't work." There was no trace of guilt in his voice, only arrogance. Ariadne was silent, staring blankly at the floor. "Don't get him wrong Aria. It was...." Crystal never got to finish her words, as Xander dragged her with him and left the mansion, without sparing a second glance at Ariadne. ... The mansion fell into complete silence. Ariadne stayed still on the couch and the file containing the divorce papers lying next her. She was in a daze. Her thoughts drifted back to her wedding day and the words that Xander had said to her. "I hate you, Ariadne Miller." "I will destroy you because of what you have done to me. I promise you." The words kept coming back to her. He did indeed keep his promise. "You finally destroyed me, Xander. You have succeeded." she smiled bitterly. ..... "Madam, are you alright? I have brought water for you." the voice snapped Ariadne back to reality. "You have been sitting here for quite a while, Madam. Would I serve the dinner?" the maid asked. "No need, I am not hungry." Ariadne checked the time, it was already past nine. She didn't realize how much time she had been in her trance. "Your service is no longer required today, you may retire to your cottage." in a trance she stood up from the couch and began climbing the stairs, to her room. The young maid watched her retreating figure with sympathy."Did you tell him about your pregnancy?" Jennifer arrived at the mansion the following morning, after Ariadne had told her everything over the phone. "He doesn't want to hear anything from me." Ariadne said, as she sat on the bed, with the divorce papers next to her. "But you need to tell him, Aria. After all, he can't abandon his legitimate child for a bastard with a mistress." "He will always choose Crystal over me, Jennie. No matter what." Ariadne smiled bitterly. "But you should still try. Think about your child." "I am done thinking. And this time, I will do the right thing." Ariadne didn't sleep the entire night. She was thinking about their lives. "And that is...?" Jennie looked at her. "I will divorce him." This time Jennifer wasn't surprised. Deep down in her heart, she knew this day would come if Xander's behaviour didn't change. But she never imagined that Xander would be such a scumbag to cheat on Ariadne. "I am done fighting, Jennie. I have endured everyt
At Blake Corporation. Xander was in a meeting when Jose barged in and whispered something in his ear. Xander's face darkened, and he stood up. "Gentlemen, I have an emergency to attend to. I am afraid I will not be able to continue the meeting because my presence is required somewhere. Jose will continue the meeting on my behalf." He left immediately after making the announcement. When Xander arrived at the hospital he saw Emma and Aaron standing in front of a door that appeared to be the operating room. They also noticed him as he walked towards them. "Mr. Blake." Emma approached Xander. She appeared to have cried a lot. "Everything was fine in the morning, and now look what happened." She began crying again. "It's all because of that bitch. She never wants to see my daughter happy." "Calm down, Emma." Aaron held her in his arms. "I apologize, Mr. Blake. She is upset and not in her right mind." Aaron explained to Xander. "That's alright." Xander was not the type to bec
"Purple City." "What?" "I will go to Purple City." It was three days after Ariadne was discharged from the hospital. She had been staying in Jennifer's place. She didn't go to the mansion. Xander had given her the mansion, but she refused to accept. The mansion would only haunt her. And going to her father was out of questions, so Jennifer insisted on staying here. She even didn't go to the mansion to collect her belongings. Fortunately, she had all of her documents with her. Grandpa and Jennifer made the necessary arrangements for her departure. Only the place was not selected. After some thought, she decided on Purple City. It was a developed city, and she would have many career opportunities there. She needed to make a lot of money so that she could meet their needs. She had some savings from her online job. In addition, her mother had left her a fortune. She had kept it with her. She wouldn't take anything from Xander or her father. She also turned down Granp
"Xander, is Ariadne staying at your mansion?" It was the following day at Blake Corporation. Crystal had arrived to discuss the joint project of Miller Group and Blake Corporation. They were eating lunch together after finishing their work. "No." Xander answered while eating his food. "No?" Crystal learned from Cathy that Ariadne didn't return to the mansion after the incident. However, she pretended ignorant. She wanted to know if Xander knew where Ariadne was. "Do you know where she is? I have not heard anything about her since that day." "No. Why should I know about her whereabouts?" Xander became irritated by the topic. Crystal's lips curved in a sly smile at Xander's reply. "Oh, yes. I just wondered if you know. I am just worried about her." "You don't have to. She is not a child in the first place." "Yeah, I just don't want anything bad to happen to her." "It's her hometown, and she has lot of friends. She might be staying with her friends. It's good ac
"Have you talked about your marriage with Xander?" Emma asked. They had recently learned of Ariadne's departure from the city and they were overjoyed. Not that she was a threat to them now, even if she stayed, but still it was a bonus to them. Now Emma was becoming impatient about getting her daughter married to the Blakes. "No mom. He is been very busy lately. I didn't get to talk to him." Crystal informed her. Emma came to Crystal's room to have this conversation while the latter was getting ready for work. "Then ask him to take you on a dinner date and discuss the marriage. You need to put pressure on him and get married as soon as possible." Previously, Xander stated that he would take responsibility for the child in Crystal's womb. He did not want the child to be recognized as a bastard. He divorced Ariadne immediately after learning about the child and promised to marry Crystal soon. However, since the child miscarried in that incident, many things had changed
Ariadne sat in the receiving chair of Dr. Cook's room at Kind Hospital in Purple City. She held a report card that the doctor had given her. Tension was written all over her face as she reviewed the report. It was her son, Alexander's report card. "Don't we have other hospitals that can perform this surgery?" Ariadne asked the doctor, after reviewing the report. "The surgery is quite complicated. Only a few hospitals around the world have the resources to perform this surgery, and Grace Children's Hospital has the highest success rate. They have risen to become the world's best pediatric hospital, in recent years. It will be the best option for your son." the doctor explained. "How much time will it take for his surgery and recovery?" "It will take around a year if the surgery is successful." "One year!" Ariadne panicked. "Yes, after being admitted to the hospital, he will be monitored for a few days before undergoing surgery. He will need to stay about two months in
Xander was having dinner with a business partner at their house. He had come to Silas City for the inauguration of a joint project with the Anderson Group. Mr. Kevin Anderson, president of Anderson Group, had invited him to dinner at their mansion. Xander had never involved himself in these types of family dinners with a business partner, but the Andersons were longtime friends of the Blakes. His grandfather would have wanted him to attend the dinner. William had kept his distance from him for the past five years, but Xander still attended the dinner to honor his sentiment before returning to Zavion City. After dinner, Xander and Jose sat on the couch opposite Mr. and Mrs. Anderson, having a casual conversation. A little girl came and stood in front of Xander. He raised an eyebrow at her as the girl was staring at him expectantly. He remembered she was Mr. Anderson's daughter as she kept staring at him throughout the dinner. Normally children avoided Xander because of his intim
At the Miller residence, Emma entered Crystal's room just as the latter was applying moisturizer before going to bed. The house was silent as everyone had retired to their rooms. It was almost midnight. "How did your dinner date go?" Emma asked as she sat on the bed. "It's good, Mom." Crystal replied. "Did you talk to him about your marriage?" "Actually, no. We didn't get the time to talk about this." "Crystal, baby, you have to make time and talk with Xander. It's been five years now, and he still hasn't married you. You are already twenty-nine. When will you two get married?" Emma expressed her concern. "We will marry soon, Mom." Crystal said casually. "You have been saying this for the last five years." "Why are you so impatient, Mom? He just needs some time. Everyone knows we are together." Crystal became irritated. "There's huge difference between being in a relationship and being the wife." Crystal sighed as she approached her mother and sat beside h
Xander was deep in thought as he walked out of the room. Toby and Jose trailed behind. Xander had provided his samples for testing. He was still denying that the kids could be his. "We will know the results tomorrow." Toby said. They returned to the room. It was already evening. "You both return to the penthouse. I'll spend the night here." he added. Toby would stay and ensure that the test was conducted correctly. Xander sighed before nodding. . Tiara arrived at the hospital in the evening. "Hello, Alex." she said as she entered the room. "Hello, Tiara." Alex smiled at her. Tiara approached the bed and hugged him. She sat on the couch as they broke their hug. "Have you brought my favourite cookies?" Alex asked. "Yes. Mommy has prepared these for you." Tiara took out a small box full of cookies and gave it to Alex. "Yeeehh... mommy is so sweet!" Tiara smiled at his enthusiasm. "I'm going to Purple City today. So I can't stay. Aunt Bella will stay with you. Okay?" "Ok
Toby took the lift to the second floor. When he arrived at room 18, he was surprised to see two bodyguards outside. They weren't ordinary guards. They were the Blake family's bodyguards. They worked for William. "What are you doing here?" he asked them. "We're here on duty, Sir." one of the bodyguards stated. "What duty?" "To protect the child inside the room." "Did old Mr. Blake send you?" "Yes, Sir." Toby frowned, unsure why William would want to protect Ariadne's child. "Okay. Is the child inside?" "Yes. But, there's an order that no outsiders be allowed in the room." the guard informed him. Toby became more confused. "I'm not an outsider and this's Mr. Blake's order." he said. As Xander's most trusted men, Toby and Jose had authority over the other employees. Others obeyed their orders. "Okay, Sir." Toby entered the room, closing the door behind him. However, when his gaze landed on the child in the bed, he stiffened. ... Xander arrived at the construction site. H
At Blake Corporation... "Xander, did you sell your property on the market place to Ariadne?" Crystal asked while sitting in Xander's office. She was furious after hearing the news. She had come to meet him. "How did you find out about it?" Xander asked, his attention fixed on the documents in front of him. "Um...I know your property manager's secretary. She told me." she replied hesitantly. Xander only nodded, saying nothing. "I'd asked you to give me that property. I was even willing to give you a big share. But you declined." Crystal added. A few years ago, Crystal started her own clothing line. She wanted Xander's property for her clothing line. However, Xander denied her because the Miller Group already owned a few properties in the city. "You don't need that property. I've already told you." Xander said casually ignoring her displeasure. "But, Xander..." "I sold the property for the partnership." Xander cut her off. "What? You and Ariadne have become partners!" Cryst
"After one week, we will begin the therapy." Mr. Wright said looking at Alex's reports. Everyone was overjoyed at the news. "Yeeee. I'll be able to walk." Alex exclaimed with joy. Ariadne hugged him. She couldn't hold back her tears. "Yes, baby. You will walk like your siblings." she kissed his temple. Autumn clapped excitedly while Adrian smiled. They were all in Alex's room at the hospital. The entire family visited the hospital. The children were overjoyed as they had the opportunity to spend the time with the entire family after a long time. After a while, Ariadne and Mr. Wright left the room. "He's doing well. He has already begun to move his legs." Mr. Wright said as they walked out of the room. "Thank you Mr. Wright. It's all because of you and the doctors." Ariadne smiled. Alex was able to move his legs now. He was overjoyed the first time he moved his legs. But he couldn't bend them. Doctors had told him not to move his legs any further because they were stil
The next day, news channels aired photos and videos from Xander's engagement party. However, Xander and Ariadne's dance drew the most attention. "What sort of nonsense is this?" Crystal was furious. She immediately called Xander. "Have you seen the news?" she blurted out as soon as he answered the call. "What news?" Xander hadn't seen the news because he rarely saw anything other than business-related news. "From last night. It's all over the news channels and social media." "About our engagement? What's wrong with that?" "Nothing is wrong with our engagement. But instead of our engagement, your and Ariadne's dance has become the hot topic. Everyone is making stories out of it as she was your ex-wife. They're even questioning our relationship. Why did you have to dance with her?" Crystal appeared frustrated as she vented her rage. "You're overreacting, Crystal." Xander said, massaging his temple. His head was aching from drinking last night. He didn't sleep well eit
(At Miller Residence) "Finally. I'm now officially Xander's fiancee. Soon, I'll be the Blake family's lady." Crystal smiled as she leaned against the headboard of her bed, holding a glass. "Cheers!" Catherine yelled from beside her, and they raised their wine glasses in celebration. "I'm happy for you. You deserve it, Crystal. Only one woman can have Xander Blake, and that's you. Not that bitch, Ariadne." she added. Crystal's face turned ugly when she heard the name. She gritted her teeth. "She will never have him. I've worked so hard for this day. What has she done to get him? Nothing. It was I who was always by his side... It was I who always obeyed him like a dog. That bitch has only insulted him, gone against him, and argued with him." she paused. "But still.. The only thing he sees is her. Ariadne, Ariadne and Ariadne...." she gritted her teeth. "But I'm not one to back down. I've always wanted to be the Queen, and he's the king. So Ariadne had to leave the picture.
Ariadne turned around and saw Xander standing behind them. "Mr. Blake. Come, join us." Mr. Montecarlo said. Xander took a step forward and stood between Crystal and Ariadne. He looked at Ariadne with a frown. She averted her gaze. "Congratulations, Mr. Blake." Zidane said, saving Ariadne from his intense glare. They shook hands. "Miss Miller, congratulations to you as well. I forgot to greet you earlier" he said to Crystal. "It's ok...Thank you." "I didn't know you have three children." Xander went right to the point. "Yeah, we were talking about it... she managed her work and three children at the same time." Georgia praised Ariadne. "I have help at home to look after my kids. Now that they have grown up, it's not as difficult." "How old are they?" Georgia asked. "Four years." "We hadn't met your other child." Xander interrupted. Ariadne paled, unsure what to say. Zidane gave her a concerned look. "He has some health issues, so he doesn't go out as much as
"You are looking at the wrong woman." Toby's words jolted Xander out of his thoughts. He looked at him and saw him smirking. He shot him a death glare before returning his gaze to the entrance. This time, he noticed Crystal with a pink gown in front of Ariadne. Crystal arrived with Catherine by her side. Ariadne was just behind them, with Tiara. Crystal's face darkened when she noticed Xander was looking at Ariadne. She deliberately arrived late to draw everyone's attention to herself. However, they arrived at the same time at the venue, and Xander looked at Ariadne first instead of her. She should have been the one to capture his attention. She cursed Ariadne internally for ruining her entry. However, she composed her expression quickly. Everyone looked at Crystal as she moved through the crowd. She approached Xander with a smile. Xander smiled back. Ariadne, on the other hand, joined the crowd with Tiara. They met with Crystal and Catherine outside as they arrived at the same
"I heard that you have been looking for a property for a while... And that you're interested in a particular property on the market place." Ariadne's eyes grew wider. She had been looking for a property for her jewelry brand, which was set to launch in Zavion City. She was particularly interested in the properties on the market place. She had also found one, but it belonged to Xander. So, she didn't make any progress on purchasing that property. "I've never wanted to sell that property, but I don't have any plans for it either." Xander continued. "So I've a proposal for you. I'm ready to sell you the property... but there's one condition." "What condition?" Ariadne narrowed her eyes at him. "I want to be a business partner of Autumn Collection... precisely... a shareholder." he said. "We don't have a business partner.." "I know. But you need one right now." "We don't..." "Shhhh." he cut her off. "Don't be irrational. Think about it with your mind as a businesswoman, that you'r
