He wanted to use Stefan to make things harder for Amos. As long as Stefan wouldn’t try to bite him back, he would be fine with anything.

His attention had always been on Evermore, who hadn’t revealed itself for the longest time.

There were trails from the Smalt Sect hinting that Henrik and the others came from Evermore. However, judging from their way of doing things, that seemed highly unlikely.
