His automobile screamed on the dimly lit blacktop as the headlights illuminated the dark as Elijah drove over country roads.

His palm grasped the steering wheel so firmly that the skin had grown pale and his thoughts were full of hope and concern.

Every one of the witches that Beta could think of and make touch with had been used up and had been seeking far and wide for a match to Ema’s witch and her location spell.

Now, when the early light was just starting to line the horizon, he was out of choices – or maybe out of choices that were not deadly.

The car slowed more as it neared a shack that was some way from the nearest residence. Elijah pulled over and at least gave himself five minutes to prepare for what he was about to face.

Taking a big breath in, he stepped out of the car and approached the door of the little hut, rusting.
