"Lover" She finished for him embarrassing him even more, since when did he feel embarrassed by trivial things like this.
"Yeah and now she won't go away. She follows me everywhere, I was trying to escape her the day you ran me over" He said enjoying the way she frowned when he mentioned the accident.
"Have you tried getting a restraining order?".
"Of course. It just never seems to stop her" She stayed silent for a couple of minutes and Nick was almost convinced she was mad at him until a slow smile crossed her lips and for a second he could only stare, just stare and appreciate the sight it was indeed a lovely one.
"Tell you what, you give me her details and I'll take care of it on one condition".
So that was what the smile was about, he couldn't resist his own lips tugged in a slow smile he would indulge her. "Name your price".
"You forgive me for running you over and we never speak of the incident again" Surprised he could only stare at her in facination of all the things she could ask him, she could have asked him to increase her commission from working with him or to prolong their contract term. "Well?" She asked impatiently.
He decided to have some fun first. "I'm not sure, it's a pretty strong hold to let go" Her eyes went wide.
"What! it's a good deal, you'd be stupid to refuse" She warned, he burst out laughing enraging her even more.
"Okay fine".
"Really?".
"Yeah really".
"I don't trust you one bit. I want it in writing" He laughed again.
"Whatever, you're the lawyer".
"Good. I'll make something up and email it to you".
"Sounds good".
"One more question" Kim said feeling more guilt than before. "Does it hurt?".
"Does what hurts?".
"The injury".
"Oh this?" He said touching the spot, then he chuckled. "No it doesn't, it's not deep and it won't scar don't worry about it" Letting out a breath of relief she nodded with pursed lips.
"So if were done here I need to head back to the office'' She said turning to leave but Nick wasn't done yet, he wanted to see those grey orbs of hers flash fire one more time.
"Will you be driving yourself?".
She sighed and turned around slowly. "Yeah so?".
"Oh nothing, I'm just worried about the unsuspecting innocent people who would be crossing the street, you won't be so lucky as to run over a nice and understanding person like me".
If looks could kill, literally, Nick would be a dozen feet under the earth by now. "You promised you wouldn't talk about it".
"No I didn't. You said you wanted it in writing which means it doesn't count until I sign the agreement".
"Serioulsy? What are you five?" His only response was a smile, with a smug look on his face an annoyed one on hers, she marched out slamming the doors behind her.`
Nick lowered the mug of coffee he was holding, too focused on the screen of his laptop he missed the desk by an inch, warm coffee spilled on his hand and the papers scattered around on the desk. "Shit!" Setting the cup down more carefully he swipped a handful of tissue from it's container to mop at the mess on the desk. Fuck now all the documents he was supposed to go through were ruined, it was a good thing he had a back up soft copy on his laptop he could always print out another copies but still the mess annoyed him.
It was 11:00pm and after a day of long boring meetings and countless documents to go through he was edgy but not tired, he was used to working long hours he didn't get this far by slacking off. He owned the hotel that housed his penthouse it was so much better than living in a regular house it saved him so much stress. The penthouse had three bedrooms including a bathroom in each of them, a livingroom, kitchen, pantry, gym, study which was his favorite part of the house, and a swimming pool. The study had been decorated according to his taste, a big mahogany table and a comfortable chair that looked intimidating but cozy at the same time, the round morrocan center rug and two long spacious couches that he had picked out himself, the study was like everyother, filled with books, every single one of which had been read at least twice, everything in the room was neat and organized thanks to his sturdy and hardworking maid Mrs Miller. Nick always took his breakfast and dinner in the study, he somehow always ends up sleeping on the couch after working that it had become a habit, it became official when Mrs Miller started leaving him blankets in the study every night even though he had his bedroom which he only visits for a shower or change of clothes. The life of Nickolas Stone was envied by many but deep down he was a sad and lonely man.
His phone rang, he answered on the second ring it was his private investigator. "Ty".
"I have just sent you an email" A hard hoarsed spoke. "It has everything you need to know".
"Thanks Ty" Nick said then hung up. Ty was a private investigator he had hired three years ago when he had noticed something shady about a deal he was going to sign and Ty always proved himself efficent whenever there was something Nick needed to find out.
This time it was Kimberly Blake, the red headed vixen who wouldn't get out of his head. The first time Donnie had mentioned her name when they were looking for people to replace their legal team Nick had thought the name sounded familiar he just couldn't remember and then it became certain after seeing her that he knew her, probably from his past.
He checked the email from Ty and as he read it bits of his past memories started to come back to him; Kimberly Blake age twenty six, owner of Blake and Co legal practitioners, from Califonia, lived in a small town called Lovers Valley. Parents name; Tasha and John Blake. "John Blake" Nick said as his blood ran hot with rage, his fists were clenched so tight they turned white, his stare on the laptop was hard as if he was trying to burn holes into it.
Kim was John Blake's daughter, of all the people it had to be him, the man that changed the course of his life, he snatched the cup from the table and hurled it against the wall staining the wall and floor with the dark liquid. Nick grabbed his phone and dialed his secretary's number he answered on the first ring.
"Yes sir".
"James the invitation that came from vpa do you recall the date it had on it?" He heard some rustling and a bang. He had probably roused the young man from his sleep, after a couple of seconds he spoke again.
"It's the 19th of febuary sir" Nick's gaze strayed to the calendar on the far end of the table, it was 17th which means he could make it.
"Call Simon tell him to have the plane ready, we'll be flying to california by tomorrow's evening".
"When are you scheduled to return sir?".
"22nd".
"Okay sir" A couple of minutes later James went back to bed with a satisfied smile on his face, a couple of hours without his boss was a blessing on it's own but a whole day without him would be bliss. James often liked it when his boss went on business trips because it was the only time he could breath properly in the office. Nick never took him on the trips because he always complained that James was too incompetent and stupid he would only irritate him and jinx the entire project, James never had a problem with it he was just glad to be away from the beast.
"You seriously don't have to help me pack you know, I'm only going for a few days not relocating" Kim said shaking her head at Sam. They were at Kim's two bedroom rooftop apartment that had been rented to her by one of her former client who had been grateful to her for having won custody of his son for him, she got a good deal for the apartment.
She had been getting calls from her relatives, cousins, second cousins and so on, same story they all couldn't wait for her to come back home and they were glad she had finally decided to grow up, can you imagine that.
"Knowing how you are I might even offer to drive you to the airport and wait till you board".
"Dude".
"What? It's true, remember the last time you were supposed to come to Slade's wedding, you totally bailed out on us" Sam said refering to her second older brother Slade, Sam was the only girl with three older brothers, Stanley, Slade and Stephan who all took turns watching over their little sister, Sam only found their overprotectiveness embarrassing. "Your excuse was so lame I almost weeped"."I'm serious I was really sick" During Slade's wedding three years ago Kim had promised to go if only for his wedding, she hadn't made it as far as her livingroom, she had stayed up all night thinking about the possibility of running into her ex and her ex best friend that she had tired herself out and had woken up with a monster headache even still she had managed to shower and drag her suitcase to the living where she passed out only to wake up almost two days later with a million missed calls from her parents and Sam, no matter how much she had tried to tell them she was sick they nev
"This sure brings back memories" Kim said and saw her mother's smile fall, then she added. "Happy ones mom. How's the clinic?" Her mother was the town's doctor, the lower part of their house had been transformed into a clinic and she had a couple of the town's people volunterring or working part-time at the clinic Kim herself had helped deliver her own fair share of babies when she in highschool, she had loved every single part of it the joy she got in being able to help bring a new life into the world was phenomenal."Same old, same old" She replied with a dismissive wave of her hand."Well would you look at that" Kim said as she studied her room painted in pink and blue her two favorite colors. "Yep that me" Laughing Kim pulled him in for a quick hug he pulled her back to stare at her. "Wow, you're still as pretty as ever I bet someone's snagged you for himself"."Nope no one's snagged this pretty flower".Tommy laughed revealing rows of perfectly white teeth. "Well then the city boys must be blind"."Yeah they must be".Tommy looked behind Kim with a pained look on his face. "Looks like words gone around that you're here" He said making Kim grimace he gave her shoulder a gentle squeez. "It's nice to see you again Blake"."Leaving me to my fate now are you?"His reply was a quick wave, she watched as he walked away from her in long strides. Kim sucked in a deep breath, plastered a smile on her face and prepared to play the 'Oh my god is that really you' game.Kim laughed at what Susan had said, another one of her past friends that she had forgotten about since she left eight years ago. Kim stared at her best friend and ex boyfriend and felt the old anger resurface and along with it the hurt she had felt years ago. Staring at Lane Kim shook her head in disbelief, she had been in love with him once upon a time or at least she had thought she was. ''A chance to relive the fun part of highschool, meet old friends and aquintances and to relive the story of being a student of VPA. Vincent Patrick Academy hereby invites you to their 8th annual reunion. A world left behind is waiting to be relived for a night''.Kim stared at the invitation of blue and white in horror. No No No this could't be happening to her, not after all these years. Judging from her expression one would think she was one of those students whose highschool experience had been a nightmare except it wasn't. She had been a straight A's student who was loved by all the teachers, hell she had been a cheerleader, she even dated the school's famous star quaterback. Highschool had been some of the best days of her life, that was of course before two of the people she trusted most in her life betrayed her in the most disgusting way, that too, on her birthday. The card was plucked out of her hands snapping her out of her thoughts.''Hey!''.''S
Vincent Patrick Academy, Nick thought with a dark scowl, with a curse he pushed away from his desk and went to stand in front of the massive window overlooking the city of New York, at night the view would be breathtaking but Nick rarely ever had the time to appreciate it, his father often accused him for not having the eye or the patience to appreciate beauty but Nick had the eyes and patience what he didn't have was the understanding for it.As he looked down at the busy streets and colorful shops, he couldn't help but think back to eight years ago, when all he had ever thought of was leaving the small sleepy town that seemed like a prison to him and a chance at a new life for his father. The days he had lived in lover's valley still had him clenching his fist. ''Lover's valley my ass'' There was nothing lovely about the town, there were only hateful and sad memories for him there. Highschool had been a nightmare, he could only get through it because of his father. His f
I'll do that, I just don't get why she's still with him, he abuses her and treats her like a slave". Zoey shook her head with her a sigh."What about you Xander? How's the couple's case coming along?"."Crazy. The man's wife is absolutely nuts, you seriously have no idea how much she's demanding for alimony, the lady is after his life I tell you. For now I'm trying to convince them to reconsider or at least come to a decision where the man doesn't end up living on the streets"."That's good, I think you should do more digging though the woman may be up to something. It's not the first time a woman has tried to rob her husband in the guise of divorce. How many kids?"."Two"."Uhmmm, Ma'am you still have that interview" Sarah interrupted with a frown. "It's in two hours so they need you to come in now to go through the script"."I thought that was supposed to be next month"."No that's a different one, and you already rejected t

"No. I mean yes...." Oh God how would she explain to them, shooting Nick a glare did he seriously have to bring the accident up in front of other people, couldn't he have approached her like a normal person and settled it amicably. She would have taken responsibility."Nick what the hell are you talking about?" Said Donnie with a raised eyebrow."Well she did run me over with her car three days ago, Donnie you asked me how I got this, didn't you" Nick said pointing at the bandaid above his eyebrow.Oh boy! It really was the nut job in the grey hoodie she thought. "I think there's been a misunderstanding, why don't we allow Kim to explain herself" Tom said eyeing her, He had always been the serious one among her employees, if you had a problem Tom would find a logical explanation and solution for it, if he wasn't a lawyer he would have been a detective.Feeling stuck and frustrated Kim let out a nervous laugh, so she was the culprit who should be sued, tried a
James rushed forward and pushed the double doors open with shaky hands, Nick noticed and heaved a frustrated sigh and proceeded to enter the room. There were seven people inside the conference room, that including people from Blake and Co, Donnie and a few employees from Stone Corp who all stood up as soon as Nick entered. "As you were" He said taking a seat at the end of the table.Kim stared at the man with wide eyes and thought he must be a fallen angel. Nickolas Stone was as the paper described him except the photos of him didn't do his looks any justice though, the man was a greek God come to life. His raven black hair was glossy and trimmed to perfection, it had a messy look about it that made it seem like he had been running his fingers through it, his black suit hugged his figure so well his tailor must have been proud to see it on him. He should be well over six feet Kim thought because he seemed to tower over everyone in the room his bright green eyes were the show s
"I don't think that's what you're supposed to say to someone you almost killed".Taken aback Kim stared at the man like he had sprouted a second head. "Almost killed?" She moved closer towards him and tried to pull the hood off his head, he avoided her hand by sidestepping her."What do you think you're doing?" He snapped."Trying to see if the fall had somehow affected your head because clearly you're out of your mind. Almost killed? Well I wouldn't have 'almost killed you' if you hadn't tried to cross the road with your eyes closed or perhaps you thought you were invincible right"."I think it's you who has your eyes closed because if you didn't, you'd see that the traffic light had a big red glowing light which means stop" Frustrated and feeling guilty Kim gave the man a dark look, although it was her fault but he was making it worse by refusing to go to the hospital and arguing with her instead. "I advice you to take the driver's test again because obviou
