"So, you're the one who's been harassing her all this time, Mary?"
Instead of answering, Mary chose to lower her head and make a play, as if the place was the stage for her. He even forced his eyes to shed unnecessary tears, as if crying.
Leo and Ivan sprayed his eyeballs, then stayed away —letting Maxim end things he hadn't even had time to start yet. Not to forget, they brought Sidney along.
Maxim rubbed his face with a rough sweep while exhaling his rough breath. Upset? Of course. Confused? Absolutely. He didn't even say anything that hurt Mary's heart, well, maybe Maxim's map sounded cornering. But really, Maxim didn't mean it that way.
Now, inevitably he has to seduce Mary. He smiled, even if he didn't want to do it. But as a man, and as the one who had given responsibility for Mary while outside the house, Maxim inevitably had to do so.
With a heavy heart, Maxim approached Mary, embracing her slender waist then bringing her into his arms.
Maxim even rubbed the top of Mary's head while whispering a few sentences of apology, hoping Mary no longer felt sad, let alone cornered.
Maxine shook her head in disbelief at the unnecessary intimacy these two lovebirds did in public. "Drama queen," she muttered quietly.
Luckily Mary doesn't hear what Maxine just said, but Maxim catches it very clearly. Maxim hurriedly brought Mary to leave the cafeteria, even he took the time to say an apology to Maxine, on mary's behalf.
Maxim's baritone voice was inaudible at all. Only the movement of his mouth can be captured by Maxine. Even so, Maxine is forced to give him a nod, although obviously, it's not Maxim's responsibility. Except for Mary.
"You go, girl!" Liam came over and grabbed his shoulder with a pat and a smile full of pride as if Maxine had just broken the world record for one of the martial arts branches.
In the next split second, Liam said loudly, after successfully taking Maxine out of the cafeteria —towards the parking lot. "I'll treat you to ice cream, celebrating your courage."
The sentence managed to make Maxine chuckled amused. Liam really acted like a brother, as well as a father who was so proud of the small achievements made by his beloved daughter.
Maxine then snatches the key from Liam's left hand, then presses one of the buttons, and sits behind the wheel as Liam opens the door for her.
"Do you have money, hey, little boy?" Maxine began taunting Liam, as the younger brother had been sitting comfortably on her right side.
"Well... I still hold my mother's card," Liam said cheerfully.
Liam pulled out a gold card from his wallet, brandishing it in front of Maxine exactly. With an asymmetrical smile, Liam said: 'I'd love to hear about all this. So, I think... She wouldn't mind if this card we used just to buy two ice cream."
Surrender. Of course, that's all Maxine can do right now. She remembers what she and Liam did last week. Their mother even looked delighted as Liam spent her money on changing the contents of Maxine’s wardrobe. Just for two pieces of ice cream, their mother certainly wouldn't be angry.
***Meanwhile, Maxim breathed a sigh of relief after nearly an hour of hard trying to correct Mary's mood which he accidentally destroyed. The girl was now smiling broadly when Maxim finally kissed her forehead.
Mary who had originally lowered her head, now raised her gaze, staring at Maxim was reviewing a smile. "I'm sorry, if I overreact to your words," Mary finally opened her voice.
It must sound so calm, Maxim catches a bit of vibration in it. The girl was nervous about explaining everything. "I... I only feel cornered when you ask like that. As... It's all my fault. Well... Even if it is, I'm involved, although not completely."
Mary admits her mistake, only that she deflects a little reality. She does not feel fully involved with what happened to Maxine, when in fact, although all through Sidney, Mary who is in control even occasionally she dares to give her servants a reward if willing to prank Maxine as she wishes.
"Okay, I'm sorry too." Maxim rubbed the back of Mary's head, then kissed her forehead just as he had done.
Regardless of whether Mary's confession is true, Maxim still asks Mary one thing. "Can you stop bothering her, hm?"
He stared at Mary's chocolate bead with all the tenderness Maxim had. The quiet highlight that always manages to make Mary drunk, falls deeply in the charm of the Alpha that most other werewolf girls desire.
Without hesitation Mary nodded, then sneered spoiled, immersing her petite face in Maxim's field chest. Mary reviewed the thin grin as Maxim held her warm.
Maxim leaned his right cheek against the top of Mary's fist while closing his eyes. In a matter of three seconds, he opened his eyes again. His round eyes are resented. For a moment Maxim lowered his gaze, confirming that the woman who was holding it was Mary. It wasn't Maxine, who suddenly entered, shadowing himself as he closed.
Maxim then shook his arms. For some reason, there was a feeling of guilt that plagued him instantly. How could, he imagine another girl when his girlfriend was hugging him so tightly as he is today?
"Max, do you want to stay at my house?" said Mary to Maxim, as she relaxed her arms, looked up, and looked at Maxim expectantly. "It's Monday, our parents are certainly having a meeting somewhere. And usually, they come home tomorrow afternoon."
Maxim swiftly gave her a shake. Of course, Maxim had to reject Mary's idea, although maybe he was actually so willing to spend the night at Mary's house. It's just that he has other responsibilities. There is an older sister who is disabled. Who would have looked after her, if Maxim hadn't been around?
"Ah! I almost forgot about Lisa," Mary knew the answer.
She then got up from her seat, pulling Maxim's big hand until they stood face to face. "I'm the only one staying at your house."
Inevitably, Maxim agreed to what Mary wanted at the time. However, despite the various ways he was sent to refuse all sorts of requests, there would always be another party: her parents begging —in place of Mary's whining.
In spite of it all, Maxim had to be willing to share a bed with the girl who was so fond of it. Although not hypocritical, he liked Mary quite a lot. It's just that he's still unfamiliar with Mary passing freely in the room: the only place Maxim considers to be his most private place.
Well... Maxim really couldn't do everything he wanted freedom. Everything was arranged —orderly and constrained. Even in front of a lot of people, he seemed to enjoy everything. Almost everyone thinks of him like an open book.
A few days passed by.
After getting tired of ignoring some calls and entering from dozens of unknown numbers, Maxine chose to turn off her phone, then throw the sim card that had been embedded into the trash behind her bedroom door.
Maxine turned around, looking at the rows of numbers listed on the digital clock on the side table on the left side of her bed. 7:00 PM. she had already missed her dinner because the plant physiology task could not be delayed even though she could do it.
"Just recheck, then finish," she muttered after a few hours of silence, opening it only when she had trouble finding the right references on some pages on the search engine.
Maxine tapped her phone screen, weighing up buying a new number as well as what food she was eating while completely starving after skipping dinner with Liam and their mother. She hates eating late, let alone having to enjoy it alone when everyone has returned to their rooms.
It's better to go somewhere, order food. It would be better to be completely alone in the crowd. It could have been Maxine asking Daniela: her mother, or Liam to accompany her to eat in the kitchen.
Despite all the possibilities, Maxine just doesn't want to whine at both. She knew they needed time alone after a full day struggling with each other's favorite activities outside the house.
"Fish and chips seem like a good idea." she hissed after successfully snatching a thick baseball jacket from inside the wardrobe.
It didn't take long for Maxine to arrive at her mother's doorstep. Just blocked one door, Liam's room. Maxine poked her head from behind the door, after successfully knocking and getting permission from the owner of the room.
Who would have thought, her mother was engrossed in sharing laughter —a story with her brother. Both of them seemed so comfortable lying on the mother's soft bed.
"Your homework is done?"
Daniela became the first to speak out when Maxine poked her head. The woman, who she said was the mother, positioned her back body leaning against padded pads that became a headboard on her bed appeared to float.
"Come here! I want to hear the full story from your mouth," Daniela said excitedly.
Liam smiled broadly before finally entering the chat. "Sorry, I just told mom about the first rebellion you did this afternoon, Max."
Thrashing. Apparently, the sentence was deliberately Liam chose to make the moment that happened as fast as lightning, this afternoon, as something he needed to give a highlight. As a marker on something, he considers important, such as when he marks a paragraph that he thinks is important and interesting.
"Just continue. I can count on you the most, Liam." Maxine threw her warm smile at her brother, before finally turning her eyes to Daniela who was still waiting for her answer.
"I want to eat fish and chips," Maxine voiced her goal at them, asking permission before going out there. "Is there anything I want to bring you?"
Liam was shocked. The restaurant Maxine is going to is the only place that provides the best Fish and Chips in Hillcester, and the distance is quite time-consuming if on foot.
Maxine must pass through 3 blocks, as well, Restaurant was in the territory of the Stone Clan: the Maxim Family, as well as the Young Clan: the Mary Family. The imperviousness of Maxine being bullied is huge.
Maxine knew what Liam's gaze meant, even as Liam was about to get up from his mother's padded mattress, Maxine hurriedly stopped him.
"I'll break their jaws if they come back to bothering," she exclaimed casually. "Just trust me."
Without waiting for a reply from Liam and Daniela, Maxine moved up —closing the door before these two in the room stormed her with various sentences of rejection. Maybe even Liam could also force Daniela to come along. Maxine doesn't want that to happen. She needs extra time to be alone, as well as they do, needing more rest after maybe almost a full day worrying about her.
After 45 minutes of walking through 3 blocks on a leisurely walk —tending to be slow, Maxine arrived in front of a modern-style building. The only restaurant in Hillcester that exudes cheerfulness, the building's color choices seem striking and different from the other restaurants in the city.
The mustard-colored building was the only place that looked so striking. Different from other buildings that stand firmly in that strong neighborhood. The restaurant looked like a kitten that was surrounded by a herd of wolves.
The building around Restaurant called Your First Choices looks so dashing. Black and gray become a color combination that looks so much dominated around it. Also, it looks like giving a real sign, that the environment belongs to those who have power, even though its color symbolizes the genius of its owners.
"You really are my first choice." Maxine turned the doorknob of the restaurant, then walked straight to a spot she liked when she entered any dining place: a table right in the middle of the room.
Maxine waited sweetly when one of the waiters received all her orders. As expected, and as usual, the people she recognized as werewolves looked at her with all sorts of roars that managed to disturb her quite disturbed. Cynical, and sharp.
But when Maxine turned to her left side, a man who looked the same age as her was smiling in knots as their green beads met. Only the young man smiled at her. The only one.
Instead of giving a reply to the hospitality she received, Maxine chose not to express anything. All she did was give the young man a faint nod.
Maxine knew who was trying to be warm to her. The same man, who was about to defend her during the incident in the cafeteria this afternoon. Maxim Stone. The popular, Mary Young’s boyfriend: the girl who has always been the head of all the ill-treatment she receives in the University.
The fish and chips Maxine ordered finally came. Without a doubt, she ate it greedily, as if she had never gotten any food since morning. While Maxim devoured his burger with a slow chew. Every now and then he steals a glance, even deliberately staring at Maxine for quite a long time.
"Adorable." Maxim thought.
"Adorable." Maxim thought.Although Maxim almost often saw Maxine passing by in front of him while in the University, they came face to face, without the presence of others. Just the two of them, in the midst of a lot of fast-food restaurants. No Mary, Leo, Ivan, nor Sidney were everywhere Maxim went.In between moments stealing his gaze on Maxine, Leo, and Ivan who have just entered the Restaurant capture clearly how Maxim stared at Maxine."Is he trying to cheat?" Leo becomes the first to speak out when he decides to approach the table, where Maxim enjoys his burger.Leo and Ivan fill the empty bench in front of Maxim. Worried about being misunderstood, Maxim immediately shifted his attention, to his two best friends who were looking at him suspiciously.
They don't know what Maxim was going to do to them, which was clear, he looked very ready to attack. "SHE DOESN'T DESERVE THAT!" Mary and Sidney howled, then ran off the mount —avoiding Maxim who from both points of view was about to lunge to the place where they were. Instead of attacking, Maxim lunged at the vampire who was trying to finish off Maxine whose clothes were almost torn, snagged twigs, and various pointed objects strewn on the ground. Now Maxim is struggling against the vampire when Maxine manages to escape —hiding behind Maxim's sturdy back. She was unconscious. Hang on. I'll finish him, then take you home. As per his words, Maxim managed to finish off the vampire —tearing his ice-cold body, then throwing it on the flames that Ivan also Leo deliberately made. "I'll take her home," Maxim exclaimed, as he managed to put on full clothes. Swiftly, Maxim grabbed Leo's hoodie lying on the ground, then he used it to wrap around Maxine's body. Leo clucked to see his be
Maxine draped her shoulders, then threw a smile, and replied, "I don't know, ma'am. I... Don't remember anything about it. All I remember is... I was on my way home from Fish and Chip Restaurant."Daniela and Liam seemed disappointed to hear about it. It seems like they're expecting another version of Maxine's story."Let's just say that everything he was just said are the truth." insisted Maxine. The girl got up from where she was sitting, then went into the bathroom —taking off all the clothes that wrapped her body, including a hoodie belonging to a stranger. The next split second Maxine opened the door a little, holding out the thick navy hoodie, shouting her brother's name, asking him to put these hoodies in the washing machine. She has to return that to his ow
"I think I needed some space, Mary." Maxim shook his head, then fixed his sentences, what he said earlier. "We need some spaces." After that Maxim moved on, leaving Mary alone there. Hurriedly, Maxim walked ahead of Maxine who was stopping to tie her shoelaces. The man looked so angry, clearly visible from the way he stepped, and his swinging hands seemed to clench strongly. From behind her back, Maxine heard two voices calling out to Maxim. But the owner of the name did not care about the series of calls. He continued to step, leaving the building, straight to the place where he parked his motorcycle. Maxine got up from where she was squatting after finishing neatly tying her shoelaces. At the same time, Ivan and Leo approached her with a curious look. All Maxine did in return was just stare at the two with a fl
The girl hurriedly turned her face away from Maxim. However, they do not need to interact, even exchange glare like humans in general. "Sorry," Maxim said quietly. Both of them looked at the waves that were pounding under each other's feet. Nothing was done by Maxim and Maxine, other than sinking into each other's minds. But Maxine becomes the only one who is disturbed by some things that disturb her during the trip. A handful of Mary's complaints. For the first time in her life, Maxine feels guilty for what she didn't really do. Maxine took a deep breath, before then turning to her right side, staring at Maxim and voicing something disturbing her. "If... If only you're avoiding someone, or maybe everyone... At least, don't turn off your phone. My ears almost bleed c
Maxim took a deep breath, then ventured to look at Maxine fixedly, straight into her green eyes. "What if it turns out that the little wolf that saved you that day was me?" Maxine laughed bitterly in response to Maxim's question which sounded quite shocking. "How could it be?" Maxine ended her question with a laugh, like never before. "I'll prove it." Maxim got up from where he was sitting, taking off his shirt and the thin T-shirt inside. Maxine calls for a ban when Maxim wants to undress. "Don't you dare!" Maxine almost squealed at maxim almost lowering his pants. Maxim shook his head softly while chuckling smoothly.
Ivan and Maxim’s eyes round perfectly when they’re hearing an impulsive question. They ignore the kind of sound they hear. Just focus on the arrangement of sentences that echo there. They were even transfixed, just staring at each other. None of them moved or even turned to the source of the sound.Watching the two freeze, Leo who had been eavesdropping on the conversation between Maxim and Ivan from behind the door finally burst into laughter. Then he ran over and embraced the shoulders of both.In between his laughs, Leo voiced a conclusion that made him laugh. "Do you think I'm the Rector of the University, or your future father-in-law, Max?"Maxim and Ivan spontaneously hit Leo's arm, as the two managed to gather consciousness after a while of fixation an
"Morning sunshine," Maxine heard a soft and warm voice that belonged to her mother. Like the morning sunlight sneaking in, Daniela opened the curtains covering the bedroom window. Maxine groaned slowly, before then opening her eyes and instantly squinting at her. Glare. It seemed like this morning the sky was so clear, that the light that entered her room felt so piercing. "Do you want to drink something, Max? Warm water, or maybe a warm blue tea with little pieces of ginger inside?" There was another sound. The only baritone sound they have. The voice of his brother, Liam. Sounds calm, but demanding. Liam couldn't hide his worries about his sister. Because Maxine is not a typical person who is resistant to alcohol, especially if there are other mixtures in it. Like
If only that little debate hadn't happened that day, perhaps by then Dalton would have been much more devastated. Heartache was overwhelming when he found out his best friend was planning something bad for him. On his family. On him. Especially Maxine. The child Jase secretly often calls a disgrace. The only child born to Alpha's mother and father, but unable to summon the wolf inside her. She, Maxine Kelly, is wolfless."Do you know, if Dalton’s daughter can destroy our people one day?" Suzane opens up the main topic—the main purpose of her calling Jase into a closed-door meeting that she deliberately holds along with Johny Smith and Drew Logan—The Alphas who master white Gorge; a region that the lower-middle-class werewolves could not touch.Feeling the same spiteful envy towards Dalton Kelly, Suzane Young and Jackson Young deliberately gathered people who had the same vision and mission as them. Destroying Dalton Kelly, as well as eliminating Maxine; the only wolfless living in the
"What does Mrs. Park have to do with all this?" Maxine frowned for the umpteenth time."I must break your memory barrier," said the pale white woman with a line of smiles adorning her face, as Maxine and Maxim looked up in unison —looking at her.Ivan and Leo shifted. Lisa rejoined the two men, giving Mrs. Park free space."Excuse me?" said Mrs. Park, as she was about to put down her palm, touching one side of Maxine and Maxim's face."Close your eyes. Let all those memories come back to both of you. Don't fight anything you guys feel." Mrs. Park continued.Maxine and Maxim gave the same nod. Agree. The two closed their eyes after getting the order from Mrs. Park. In the early minutes, Maxim and Maxine looked relaxed. But in the following few minutes, the two of them were even crying with sweat pouring on both sides of each other's faces.Maxine and Maxim are brought into their memories—their childhood. To them, the atmosphere they were watching at this time seemed familiar. They even
"Indeed, what are you feeling?" asked Maxine without turning her head in the slightest. She lowered her head even more."I like you.""Hm?" Maxine nodded slowly."I love you..."Maxine slowly raised her gaze, staring into the alpha's green bead while slowly pressing out a gentle smile. "I know..." softly."Just like that? Your answer?" Maxim raised his eyebrows, looking at Maxine with indecisive feelings and curious.Maxine knew the meaning of the gaze. Soon she approached, then briefly pecked Maxim's full lips with a smile. "Now you're mine," Maxine whispered softly. "You should have known what my statement meant.""Come here." Maxim whispered back.Maxine approached, then pressed her lips against Maxim's. She sucks it up, giving all the intimacy that the alpha craves. Allowing herself to sink and drift along with the hundreds of butterflies that filled her stomach.I love you too, Max. you know that. Maxine said silently in her heart.A few days later, Maxim and Maxine returned to H
Maxine rubbed her face with a rough sweep. At least She regretted what She had said to Jace Stone. She rubbed her face again as she walked towards the bathroom, looking at the reflection of herself in the sink mirror.Maxine laughed bitterly. "Sorry, Mr. Stone. I can't let go of your son," she repeated her words last night. She laughed again with a soft shake when she remembered the fact that it was this sentence that made Jace Stone order the vampires to tear the clothes she was wearing, even though some of them were ordered to hurt her, and fortunately, none of the vampires managed to hurt her, because every time the wound appeared it would be tight again as soon as it appeared. After performing a series of rituals of self-appeasement; Meditating and imagining the good things that had previously happened to her, Maxine returned to the room, chose a variety of clothes that Maxim bought for her and put on one of them, and then ate a few pieces of sandwiches that Maxim also bought for
"I expected it," the woman hissed quietly, almost in hushed tones, her gray bead staring at Maxine, who was sleeping in Maxim's sling. "It turned out that this kind of thing did happen again."When he heard this, Maxim frowned and turned his head, curiously looking at the woman. "Did it happen again?"The woman turned her head, putting on a clumsy smile to conceal the carelessness she had just displayed. "No way. There is nothing, "she exclaimed, a little excitedly. "Please ignore me. I'm just messing around because I'm too tired to do anything else."Maxim nodded, hesitant to believe the woman's words. "Go home if you're tired, madam," Maxim suggested, his face as tired as the woman who said she was exhausted. "Have your working hours just begun?"The woman shook her head. "I'll go home after dropping you guys off."Maxim nodded. He stepped out of the elevator when it came to a halt and the door to the second floor opened. "We're going to pick this floor, madam," Maxim said as he exi
"Where's Maxine?" Ivan swept his gaze around when he couldn't find the figure of the girl on any side.Maxim and Leo suddenly turned their heads, combing the entire side of the forest around them with each other's eyes. Maxine wasn't there, not even their only herd remaining. The only ones surviving the vampire attacks had disappeared. But not long after, as if giving them an answer, Maxine's screams and the loud howls of their herd in the distance were heard. The three youths rushed to light the fire and rushed to follow the source of the sound after witnessing the corpses of their herd being devoured by the flames. Together with Ivan and Leo, Maxim howled, signaling to Maxine that they were going to catch up and save her.Could it be, that what dad promised them was Maxine? Maxim thought worriedly. Maxine's soul?
"Is that my father?" Lisa asked Liam curiously.Liam was about to answer, but Daniella's voice made his mouth close again. He didn't know when Daniella stood behind his high back. As soon as he heard his mother's voice, Liam followed Maxim and Maxine out of the way, then made a way for Daniella to approach the eldest daughter of the Stone family."Not your father," said Daniella, smiling a small smile.Lisa nodded. She then looked at Maxine, Maxim, and Liam alternately. "Could you guys come out for a bit?" she asked softly. "I need to speak to Mrs. Kelly. Just the two of us. "The three nodded obediently, quickly leaving the room, and Maxine was the last one in there, quickly closing the door. Leaving Lisa and her mother in the same room, wanting to talk about something.
"It's a family thing, mom," Maxine interceded. It seemed that she knew what happened, even though she felt that she was the cause of what happened to Lisa. "Please just treat her right."Danielle was tight-lipped. She hurried to clean the wound on Lisa's back carefully after Liam came to bring a bowl of warm water and a small towel. Lisa grimaced, she even squeezed Maxim's hand while closing her eyes. While Liam approached Maxine who chose to look at the golden color that dominated the sky from behind the window of her room facing the balcony, deliberately turning her face away from the Stone siblings."Hey?" said Liam for the first time. "I'm sorry."Maxine nodded without turning her head. "Forget it, Liam. It's not a big deal."
"Moon Goddess has stepped in, Stone," said the woman called Mrs. Park in a whisper that was as firm as Jase's. "You can't separate them anymore, even after you've eliminated Dalton Kelly.""Shut your mouth tight if you don't want my packs to destroy this place when you're caught off guard," Jase threatened before he then headed to the table where his son and the wolfless girl were."Maxim Stone," Jase said in a heavy hoarse voice. "Come with me.""Let me take her home, dad."Maxim then got up from where he was sitting, then approached Maxine while stretching out his right hand. "After you," he whispered softly.Maxine almost reached Maxim's helping hand, unfortunately, Jase first brushed the hand from her face while looking a
