I could see the disappointment in her eyes after I’d said that and she held on to the knob of the door as she was fighting hard not to cry in front of me.

Seeing her like this, watching her almost break down before me, my heart clenched and this gave me all the more reason to push her away. As Alpha that I was, I couldn’t afford to be broken down by someone, not even if they were my mate.

She chuckled as she stared at me. “It’s gotten that bad, huh?” She asked me, and I rolled my eyes as I clenched my fists, doing my best to keep my emotions bottled in.

“Let’s be real, there was nothing between us. It was all just lust. You shivered under my touch, your body pressed against mine made me feel things, but that’s in the past now, let’s focus on what actually brought us together.
