I hit the brake as I reached the entrance of the house. The engine hummed softly beneath us as I turned to her.

“Can you get down now?” I said, feeling her arm still tightly wrapped around me.

“Let me stay like this for a while,” she cooed, snuggling closer.

“If my mom sees you here, it won't do you any good.” The moment she heard that, she flinched back and quickly got off my bike.

She moved closer to me, nudging the tip of my jacket with her fingers. I smiled as we leaned closer to kiss each other. As I closed my eyes, ready to place a kiss on her lips,

“Ahhh,” she yelled, and I snapped my eyes open at her sudden scream, only to see her covered in eggs, yolk dripping down her face and clothes.

Turning to my left side, I saw Gina holding a small basket filled with eggs and a triumphant smile on her little face.

“Who the fuck are you? How dare you throw eggs at me?” She screamed at Gina.

“Me? Hmmm, I'm his wife-to-be,” Gina replied, causing me to chuckle.

EMELIA'S POVI looked through the window, watching David play with the kids outside. Wrapping my arms around myself, I closed my eyes as memories of him hugging me from behind flooded in. Tears streamed down my face as the harsh reality hit me again that he’s gone and he wasn't coming back. Why is life so cruel and wicked to me? Why does it only derive joy from taking everyone away from me? What exactly did I do so wrong to deserve this kind of fate? Why me? Why did death decide to take the only one by my side away from me? The only one who stood by my side during my hardship, the only one who lifted the weight of my life from my shoulders, why…Tears continued to flow as I shut my eyes tighter, a muffled sound escaping from my lips.I wished I had never let him go that night. No, if only I hadn't cheated on him, he wouldn't have proposed that day, and he wouldn't have needed to go out to book a restaurant. This is all my fault. Everyone died because of my bad luck. If he had never me

It's been two months since Maverick died. Many thought I had forgotten him, but that was the hardest thing I had ever tried to do. Every week, I visit the prison to show my face to the murderer who snatched him away from me, making my presence haunt him. His kneeling and begging mean nothing because he has done something unforgivable. Just because he was sentenced to life imprisonment doesn't mean he can atone for his sins. His family is healthy and happy. I wanted to make their life miserable, but seeing that he hadn't been a good father either, I refrained. His wife had been the one supporting the family; the kids hardly saw him at home and didn't even know if he was alive or dead. Telling them what he did or about his imprisonment would hardly affect them.Life has been unfair, although things are getting better now with Cassius always by my side. David returned to school, and now I was both his mother and father as he got no one else except me. The kids are doing fine, but they st

  • HIS BABY MAMA   CHAPTER FIFTY NINE: Worst Embarrassment

I watched Mary's drama in amusement, and I will compliment her for her good acting, as her words were filled with heartfelt emotion that could move an audience to tears. But it seems she had forgotten one thing: every single employee at a high-end restaurant like this always signs a confidentiality agreement which prevented them from disclosing anything they might had witness at their workplace. They might be recording us now, but the majority of them would delete it immediately while their superiors would warn others and remind them of the agreement they signed, which would also make the others delete the video.“You really have no shame, despite everything I've done for you,” she spat out, facing me, her voice trembling with disdain. Now, she had said something beyond her because I found her words laughable. I couldn't even recall a single thing she had done for me, and now she claimed to have done a lot.Mary had always been the weak one, and I had constantly let go of things to a

“Mom,” Cassius called gently.“What? Am I not allowed to say the truth? It's just as if she had been expecting her fiancé to die so she could latch onto you. I told you to be wary of her. She isn't the kind of person you think she is.”“Because she killed Poocco, Loocco, and Moocco?” Kira interrupted her, her voice tinged with sarcasm. “Mom, you have done something far worse than that.”“Really?” Edward asked in astonishment, and Kira gave him a light nod. Edward covered his open mouth in bewilderment.“You better shut up your stupid mouth! Who exactly are you siding with? Are you also supporting your brother's relationship with her when he has a good and responsible wife at home?”“But Eunice, when exactly did you start liking Mary? I thought you weren't fond of her before. Did she give you something?” Edward asked in a mocking tone.“I think you should refrain from interfering in this family matter and manage your own home.”“You should mind the way you talk to my husband. He wasn't

CASSIUS'S POVI staggered backward, shocked by Emelia's statement. My eyes burned, and I blinked rapidly to clear my vision as rain pelted my face. I was dumbfounded for a second. I never once thought my family was part of her revenge. I thought it was Mary and her parents she sought revenge on, but now she said what?So part of the reason she approached my family was because she thought my family killed hers?“What exactly are you talking about?” I asked with trembling lips and a shaking voice as I finally regained my senses.“I"m talking…” she paused, taking a deep breath. “About what your family did to the Blake family, to me and my parents. Your grandfather, father, mother, aunt and uncle, nieces and cousins, and even Kira killed my family and took away our company.”“You should watch your mouth before you make such accusations against my family,” I advised, struggling to keep my tone calm.“I don't think I need to do that because you and your family are nothing more than murderer

  • HIS BABY MAMA   CHAPTER SIXTY TWO: Surprise!

My eyes may have been fixed on the projector, but my mind was miles away. I hadn't talked to Emelia for a while now because of her accusations against my family, and if she didn't apologize for what she said, I doubted there would be any future for us."Sir," a voice snapped me back to the present as I shifted my attention back to the meeting.I kept a straight face and stared at the projector because I hadn't heard a single thing they had been saying since morning. I closed my eyes and clicked my tongue as I tapped my index finger on the table."Just do as you like but remember one thing, if this thing flops, you must flop along with it," I said in a stern tone as happiness filled everyone's face despite my warning. As they all thanked me for the approval, I stood up from my seat and headed outside the meeting room while Kingsley trailed after me."Did anything happen between you and Miss Emelia? It seems your mind is completely somewhere else during the meeting," he asked."And it s

“Here, take this,” I said, passing Kingsley a handkerchief to wipe the tears off his face. He raised his hand, trembling slightly as he collected it. As he dabbed at his eyes, all I could see was raw pain. What happened today was unexpected, as it brought me nothing but joy. I had been trying to find leverage on May, but I couldn't believe what I was searching for was right in her own house.“Cassius, please,” Edward begged as he dropped to his knees, clutching my leg. “Save me just this once, and I promise you that I will do whatever you ask me to do. Even if you ask me to bark like a dog, I will do it. Just save me and forget you ever saw me here. I swear to you that nothing happened between us; we didn't do it.”“Of course nothing happened between the two of you,” I said in a mocking tone, shifting my gaze to May. “And that was because I interrupted you. You are really bold, aren't you? To be messing with my family. One is my uncle, and the other is my friend.”“Friend? Is she also

MARY'S POVCassius dropped his cutlery and slowly raised his gaze to meet mine. I flashed him a smile, as I was filled with happiness right now. Kingsley had told me that Emelia and Cassius had a big fight and broke up immediately. This was nothing short of big news to me as he had finally come back to me.“Mary, I actually have something to tell you,” he said, looking into my eyes.I could already guess what he wanted to tell me, but I still needed him to say it himself. Now that Emelia had abandoned him, he had come to apologize for his actions. Though I was supposed to play a little hard to get, what mattered to me was that he was back to me, back in my arms.“Yes, what is it?” I asked, tucking a strand of my red-tinted hair behind my ear.Cassius swallowed hard, unable to say it out. I raised my hand from the table to place it in his right hand as he seemed he was scared to say it.“Please let go of me,” he blurted out, and my hand hung in the air.Time froze as the maids around u

Since I helped you last time with Desmond issues, so you should help me this time.”“Of course, we’re here to help each other. So what exactly do you need?”“I want to launder some money, but that fool has been keeping an eye on me.”“You mean your wife?”“Of course, who else? She’s always trying to act like the boss. Lately, she’s been nosy about everything happening in the company, keeping me in check. So I need to take everything I want before she tries anything stupid.”“I find that hard to believe. Don’t you both love each other?”“Love?” He scoffed. “If she hadn’t kept control of the company, I’d have divorced her a long time ago.”“But I thought she gave you all her property. I turned to Mary."What if it is?” She answered without a hinto of guilt. “ Do you think if I hadn’t lied, you would have married me? Do you think you would have even given me a chance?" She asked Cassius "Is that why you did all this? Because you wanted him, knowing I loved him?" My voice quivered."Can you please shut up? You liked him? Then why didn’t you tell him? Why does everyone always like you and not me?""What are you talking about? Mary, everyone loved you, even your parents.""Look at her, acting clueless. EMELIA'S POVChecking the news, I saw both positive and negative comments. Some people were happy about the news, while others criticized me for being with Cassius after almost ruining his entire family.“Stop looking at this,” Cassius said as he shut the laptop.I heaved heavily, feeling frustrated and unsure of what to do.“Just give it a while; everything will sort out,” he said with a reassuring smile, and I nodded.I shouldn’t have let the kids go to school today. Who knows if those reporters went to their school? I picked up my phone to call their teacher, but David’s call came in.I bit my lip, feeling tense because I was sure it was about the news of Cassius acknowledging the kids.“Let me talk…”“No, I will,” I declined, standing up from my seat and picking up the call.“Hey, sweetie. MARY'S POVThe smell of hospital disinfectant filled my nose as I slowly opened my eyes. Looking around, I realized I was in a hospital room. The memories of everything that had happened came flooding back.“Cassius,” I muttered in anger as my hand tightened into a fist.I should never have trusted him or signed the divorce papers first. Now, everything I had worked for all these years was gone. I lost everything; my family, my marriage, my honor, and my prestige. There wasn’t a single thing I could claim as a gain from this marriage. Cassius had used me as a tool until Emelia returned to his arms.I laughed like a crazy person, and my laughter echoed across the room. The nurses exchanged worried glances before one of them rushed out. A short while later, she returned with Linda.“Are you okay now?” Linda asked as she walked to my side. I continued to stare into an empty spot.“Your husband brought you here and left immediately. I….”“He pushed me, and I hit my head heavily on the gro

CASSIUS'S POVWearing my clothes, I gently placed a kiss on her forehead and tiptoed out of the bedroom, heading out of the house. I had something I needed to do urgently. I entered my car and drove to my house. On getting home, I picked up a brown folder and took a deep breath. I needed to settle everything today. Grabbing a recording device, I entered the house but didn’t find anyone, so I went to the bedroom. As I slightly opened the door, I heard Mary screaming at someone on the phone.“What do you mean by treatment? How can I get a treatment at this time?” she yelled angrily, and my shoulders slumped. What? She is sick? How could I not know about it?Different questions raced through my mind as I rethought what I wanted to do. What kind of husband asks for a divorce from his sick wife? Staring at the brown folder in my hand, I decided not to go through with it. As I was about to close the door, I stopped at what I heard next.“Don’t you hear what I’m saying? I can’t get any trans
