Chapter 55

THALIA

I slowly opened my eyes when I felt something move beside me. The first thing I saw was a hand clutching onto mine. Damon holds me firmly but it also gives me strength to be with him.

He's sitting, leaning at the headboard but I couldn't meet his eyes.

I remained still, eyes open and naked under the sheets. I stared at our hands intertwined at each other and couldn't help but feel insecure again.

Things from this morning were recollected in my head.

“I'm sorry if I'm not ready to share it with you.”

He suddenly said, causing me to hold my breath for a second. He keeps apologizing… which gives me pain in my chest.

I don't know why he needs to apologize for something that he can naturally say to me. What's stopping him from being himself with me?
