Chapter 3

ANYTHING FOR MY BROTHER.

The buzzing of her phone drew her attention, she grabbed it from her handbag to see that it was Christina on the line.

She wondered if everything was okay with the call. While staring at the counsel as she took the pen and paper from her groom, she picked up the call.

" You know quite right that I'm not in the mood of picking up anyone's call at the moment, why are you tempting me ? ", She roared to the hearing of her housekeeper.

The young lady has already studied everything about her mistress. She knows when she's annoyed and when filled with joy.

Being with the groom is something difficult for her to do, but since she has no other option left behind, she needs to give in.

Then believe it, ma'am Melita will change within this period. She's so sure of it.

" I got a call from the doctor just now. He commented on reaching you all these while but you aren't picking up your calls. Sir Vanda sent for you, he wants to see no one but you ", Christina announced through the phone.

She took a deep breath. Her heart skipped repeatedly making her shiver, but she shifted to a side to avoid neither the counsel nor her groom noticing her sudden appearance.

Vanda is the only family she has now. A young man who is seven years older than her.

They are the only souls left for their parents before they died. Her elder sister had given up the ghost through a road accident on her wedding night.

Here comes Vanda, hospitalized and in a critical condition.

" It's okay Christina, I'll go see him now ", she assured her and ended the call.

She wiped the watery liquid that was about to rush down her cheek and then turned to the counsel.

" I'll have to leave now, keep the document but I'll be back to take my copy with me..", she stated to the hearing of the council.

She nodded and bid her goodbye.

Carmelita and her hired groom left the chamber to her car. This time, she doesn't need to be silent.

" I'm leaving for the hospital to see my only brother. You'll come with me, when I'm done we'll leave back home ", she referred to Ferdinand.

He pouted his lips, " It's okay, I'll love to see him too ".

She drove off from the compound and within minutes, they arrived at the hospital.

Ferdinand got down from the car and leaned on it while she locked it up.

" You don't need to be heard. Follow me into the ward, Ferdinand ", he ordered him.

He shuddered, " if you persist, then I'll go in with you."

They both stepped into the ward where her brother was laid, he caught the sight of her sister and smiled for once.

" I'm glad you're here already. I had thought you would be so busy to come over and stay with me for a while. My youngest billionaire ", Vanda uttered, gripping her palm.

She tapped her cheek and returned the smile.

" I missed you so much, brother. Sorry for not being here for the past few days, my work schedule was so tight ", she commented.

Vanda chuckled.

A nurse moved toward them and handed over to her a test result given to her by the doctor before he left.

Melita went through it instantly. Her heart was filled with sorrow.

" Don't tell me all this is true. Yes. It's not true right ? ", She referred to the nurse standing opposite her.

The nurse blinked severally, " that's what the doctor gave me. He announced that you should make sure he gets everything he wants for the few days he's left to be ".

Melita shook her head. She could imagine herself swimming in the pool of bitterness.

" Carmelita, it's true. The doctor said I have just a few days to live. But if happiness is found within me, then it might take a bit long from the day expected ", Vanda narrated it himself.

Melita had thought her brother wasn't aware of it, but to her greatest shock, he is the one narrating it.

The nurse left the ward immediately after wishing him recovery.

Vanda forced himself up on the bed, he sat down and leaned on the wall. His eyes went round the room when he caught a young man sitting in a corner but hasn't said a word.

" Melita, who's that young man over there? Did you come with him? Is he your fiance ? ", He threw multiple questions at her, grinning.

She forced a smile on her face. " Yes, he's my fiance ".

The sentence flowed out unintentionally. She couldn't believe he referred to Ferdinand as her fiance. The man he had ordered never to refer to her as a wife.

" You both look great to be united. Precisely, I can't wait for the both of you to get married and bring forth offsprings ", Vanda narrated. He kept staring at Ferdinand continuously. " He's so handsome and charming, you know, it fits the both of you together ".

Melita pierced his finger into the soft bed, " You're damn funny, brother ".

" What's your name ? ", Vanda referred to her groom smiling.

He returned the smile too, " I'm Ferdinand, Sir ".

He nodded, " that's quite a nice name. Uhmmm ! Ferdinand, I trust you to take good care of my sister. Promise me that ".

" It's a promise sir, I will take good care of her ", Ferdinand replied. He glanced at Melita to get her to stare at him.

He wondered what was going on in her mind right away. Anyways, he started it by referring to her as her fiance.

" Melita, if you would do nothing else for me, I will like you to just do this one thing for me ", Vanda stated politely.

Melita turned fully facing him. " Anything for you brother, I'll do it ".

He smiled at that sentence, " Get married before my death and get me the pictures to stare at. Even if I won't be present in the ceremony, nor touch your first child… those pictures alone will give me a happy ending ".

Melita let her mouth agape. If only her only brother knows the mess she's passing through, he won't request such a favor.

Vanda isn't aware of the amount of hatred she has towards his gender, she doesn't desire to be with any in the name of love.

Not only that but how would she produce offspring since she doesn't have a womb ?.

She can't be a wife, because she doesn't have feelings for her opposite gender.

She can't be a mother, because she is a woman without a womb.

But in all, she doesn't want Vanda to die a sorrowful death. She desires him to die happily.

" If that alone will make you happy, then I'll succumb to it. " She assured him.

He smiled and gripped her palm, " I love you so much, Carmelita ".

" I love you too, Vanda ", she replied, returning the smile.

After sharing lots of memories with her brother, she decided to take her to leave back home.

Ferdinand got on his feet and left with her after waving Vanda goodbye.

The two drove off from the hospital back home.

" This is another deal, Mr. Ferdinand. You can see the condition of my only brother and family, he's so close to the grave. According to the result, he has not more than a month to live and I want him to die a peaceful death… … "

She sighed and narrowed her eyes, " The sixty days contract is far different from this. A priest will join us together and we'll take pictures which I'll show him. He'll be so glad to be convinced that I'm married before he gives up and then we'll divorce… "

Ferdinand understood how she felt at the moment, he compared her only brother to himself.

He has just seventy-five days to live on this earth, but before then, Vanda must have given up.

He turned to face her and their eyes met. Goose pimples fell on her skin, she thought of what was mysterious about the stare.

" Let's do it, for the sake of your dying brother ", Ferdinand stated.

She shut her eyes so tight and then let them open again. Just like she's giving in to it because of her brother.

Since she can't produce offspring, she will have to do this alone for her only family.
