Maze hid from Ryan about the invitation of attending Ian's birthday party.
Not because she didn't want him to come with her, rather she'd love his company. But she did not like his unreasonable exaggeration so she was forced to hide it from Ryan despite her will.

I got my work done by 4 o’clock and ask for leave.
Oh, God!!
I never dreamed that my leave demand would be granted so easily.
Fred's face was worth seeing.
But glad that he let me go one hour prior cause he was very pleased with me due to the sudden promotion of our shop on social media, unintentionally done via me the day before.
I took farewell from Jesha and hurried home.
When I got home I took a quick bath and put on whatever I could get my hands on.
Within twenty minutes I was ready to attend the party. Actually, there was nothing much to do.
Just slipped into stripe wide pants, and a cropped denim jacket over a white t-shirt, styled with a pair of white sneakers.
I took a quick look at my reflection in the mirror. And I must admit that I was quite satisfied with my appearance.
**Shy**
I checked the time, and unfortunately, my clock was ticking five-ten.
I quickly packed my belongings in a purse, locked the door, and headed for my destination.
I reached Roasters Bistro by 5:30 pm.
Gosh, I was late. I don't know when I'll be able to give up on being indifferent to time.
I prepared myself a nice apologetic speech that I may need to present before Ian.
Standing in front of the door, I was engrossed in the thought that I didn't realize that I had blocked the entrance.
At the formal solicitation of a doorkeeper, I returned to my senses.
I was embarrassed and repeatedly apologized to him, the frown on his face showed how irritated he was with me.
I could feel his awkward stare on my back while walking. Ignoring him, I hurried through the aluminum-framed door and entered.
It's a quite big and lavish restaurant. I got fooled by the name of the cafe. I thought it must be some roadside small restaurant but it wasn't.**Again embarrassed**
I entered the restaurant. Big dark walnut tables were placed in the large room keeping enough space to move. I looked up to see the beautiful crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling illuminating the whole place. It was way too amazing.
Girls and boys of my age, dressed perfectly for the birthday party, were swarming and twittering around.
I could recognize one or two faces among them. The reason for knowing them or all the memories I had with them was not pleasant at all. They were among the people who always bothered me at school. In a word, the place was full of rich and affluent bullies.
I started to had a second thought on whether to stay or leave as early as possible.
I took a large breath to keep myself steady. I can't be weak like this. And moreover, I can't leave without meeting the person I was here for.
Suddenly I noticed a familiar blonde girl walking towards me.
Is it her? I squinted my eyes to clear my brain.
Shit !!
She was here that means Ryan would know everything soon.
Let me give a bit brief about the person I got panicked about. Amanda, one of Ryan's friends aka full-on sycophant.
She's one of them who doesn't like me at all neither did I do.
She fancies trading words from one to another. Except for this flaw, she is awesome. And yes one more, she hates me unnecessarily...cause she loves Ryan.
"Maze why are you here?" her corny voice dragged me back to reality.
"Ian invited me" I mumbled, while my eyes lingering on the crowd.
"Good that you're here. I was getting bored around those chicks"
I was caught off guarded. She sounded sarcastic as we both knew how bitter and sour our relation was. Yet I gave her a moderate smile.
"By the way how do you know him?" She asked, doubt ringing in her tone.
I turned to the crowd answering her, "Nothing important"
"I knew that already. You are not eligible to know him..."
My brows met passing her an offended look.
Amanda overlooked it, and asked while trying to peek around searching for someone, "By the way where is Ryan?"
"He is not here," I replied coldly.
Her tone hardened displaying her motive of approaching me here was over, "Ohh...."
I laughed inwardly hearing her disheartened sigh. But her later remark nervous me.
"Don't tell me he doesn't know you're here," Her smirk stated she already got on my thoughts.
"Shit," I mumbled inwardly. As she moved past me, I wanted to plead her not to inform Ryan but my pride reprimanded me of doing such things.
Besides, around her, I was getting bored to death.
To occupy me I glanced throughout.
Here maximum seemed familiar not friendly just regular passing by faces as all of them were from our college. Rather than a birthday party it more seemed like an annual gathering. And none of them passed me a friendly vibe neither I did.
As my eyes were lingering all over the place, suddenly it got stuck on a familiar tall figure. Yes, the one who invited me here, Ian. He was looking great in his party suit.
As our eyes met, he smiled at me.
Getting away from the group he was talking to and walked over to me with a wide smile plastered on his face.
"You look beautiful" He whispered to me as he moved by my side.
I just felt uncomfortable as he was being really close to me. I slowly took a step away from Ian.
"Thank you" I mumbled stiffly.
"Come" He urged me to walk sliding his one hand down my waist giving me no chance to get away .
I tried to dismiss his grasp from my waist but he didn't care to pay attention to my struggle.
All were looking at me. Some were gossiping about me.
"Isn't it Ryan's Girlfriend? Shit !! this girl can't help but wonder around all handsome boys" the most quarrelsome girl of my class, Clover, said. I don't know why she hates me the most.
"I hate her..but the bitch really has a pretty face," Her puppet,Leah, said.
"That's her MasterCard. In this way, she seduces all the boys" Clover taunted, her voice was enough to reach my ear.
"Don't know how many men have fucked her.." Leah giggled.
Tears pooled in my eyes. Holding back my tears I pointed myself obviously and narrowed my eyes at her.
Was she on drugs?!
I pretend to ignore them...But they were crossing their limits.
Except for Ian, everyone was looking at me as if I was some animal from Zoo.
I couldn't hold myself anymore from throwing a hard slap on her freaking shit spitting face.
She grabbed her throbbing cheek and stared at me widening her eyes.
"Don't even dare to speak nonsense about me, Do you think here no one knows about your shitty nature of fooling two at a time. Or you want me to let everyone know about your list of so-called boyfriends?" I asked pretending curious.
Like seriously, what was her problem? Did she have mental issues?
crap!
I didn't even want to respond but bragged for it.
So the slap was her payback.
After all "Karma is a bitch".
If I wasn't a respectful person enough then I would have slapped her even before she could say those disgusting words against me.
A burst of laughter sounded all around me. Everyone's eyes were on us.
Ian tried to stop me. But I was not willing to stop. I shoved him aside and strode towards Leah.
I wanted to hit her face but a sturdy hand pulled me out of the room.
The boiling ire inside me blinded my eyes, that I couldn't see who it was and threw few punches at the person's abdomen in a row.
As I was calmed enough I noticed who it was.
I covered my face to hold the yelp leaving my mouth.
"Ryan, What are you doing here?"
I was more concerned to know why he was here, rather than asking about his pain that I just cause.
He took a few moments to stabilize his condition and made me sat in his car.
He seemed angry. I regretted coming here without informing Ryan.
"Phew" Hope he would not exaggerate this matter.
He kept driving without telling me where we were going. I didn't dare to ask as I was at fault this time.
He pulled the brake of his car over a streetside food stall. He darted me a hard glare stating me to get off his car. I sighed and get out as per his instruction.
"Ryan, I am s..."
He raised his hand in the air motioning to stop, holding my hand he said, "Let's eat Meatball Sub Casserole and Braised Beef"
Hearing his word my jaw almost dropped to the ground, yet I nodded my head to agree with him.
He smiled and walked towards the lined up stall at the roadside in a row.
" Hello" the food seller greeted us. I was too excited to greet him back, so Ryan had to greet him alone and pass the food order, " We want Meatball Sub Casserole and Braised Beef.. Three of each"
The food-seller smiled and asked us to wait for ten minutes to prepare the food.
I dragged him in one corner and whispered, " Why did you order so many foods? Who would eat them?"
He smiled proudly gesturing that he would. I rolled my eyes and giggled at his silly act. I know why he brought me here, I love to eat whenever I am stressed. My eyes moistened thinking about my dumb bestie who was doing his best to cheer me up.
Soon the food was ready for us to eat.
And we jumped on our food. After finishing eating neither of us could move anymore as the food was too delicious that we eat more than necessary.
After taking a rest for a while we get back to his car and start moving to my house.
While staring at the bright sparkling bustling streets my eyes got teary. In the midst of such a dense crowd around me, I felt alone as if there was no one beside me. A lingering pain was mounting inside my chest.
Ryan noticed and pulled the brake of his car by the roadside.
"Shhhh. Come here" He unbuckled his seat belt and then mine...He gave me a light hug, I was still sobbing..
"Maze you are too innocent to handle the world. I really worry about what would happen if I am not there for you."
"I know," I said hurriedly pulling myself out of his embrace and wiping my wet eyes.
"Silly girl. I really wonder whose luck is going to doomed by marrying you"
I chuckled at his word...I leaned over the window and started seeing the passing trees and houses. Soon I fall asleep emerging into deep thoughts pondering nothing.
◔ Meanwhile somewhere afar ◔
The room was as serene and cold as a graveyard, with three people sitting in the middle of a huge dark room.
"Why do you think she needs to spy on a normal girl?" a heavy voice murmured to himself biting his lower lips.
"Did you find out who the girl is? or any information about her? why is she being spied? or anything?" another guy desperately asked aiming the man squatted a bit away from him.
"I don't know, Should I find out?" the other man asked raising his one brow.
"No need, I will go there alone by myself. I need to see the reason all by myself" the heavy voice owner replied in a more deep tone.
"Seems fun," A playful voice proclaimed inducing both of their attention.
The heavy owner smirked at this remark, "Let's see"
◔ Ryan ◔ I was literally so furious with her antics. I don't know how to explain her the reason I don't know how to explain my worries to her. The more I try to explain to her, the stronger I feel like I am incapable of explaining anything to anyone. My self-confidence began to fall with my every attempt. Anything could have happened if Amanda hadn't informed me on time. Even though I don't prefer Amanda personally but this habit of her always backed me to track whenever Maze is in any kind of trouble. I should treat her with dinner, though her motive wasn't innocent at all, yet it did assist me out. I just wanted t
Maze got up in the morning with the usual irritation and screeching sound of her alarm clock repeating*Today is Sunday*. It was enough to give her a temporary headache every morning. but she had to bear with it, after all, it was a life-saver for a sleepyhead like her. She left her bed and freshened up quickly and got ready in her plain white jogger pant and yellow hoodie. Then she climbed down the stairs heading towards the kitchen, aiming to prepare something to end the growling of her empty stomach. But as she stepped downstairs and entered the living room close to the kitchen, her nostrils filled with a palatable aroma that made her mouth watery.
After finishing eating, Maze and Ryan commenced moving out of the shopping mall. But suddenly a weeping girl attracted Maze's attention and without informing Ryan she marched towards the girl. A man was pulling her hand and trying to take her somewhere which didn't seem right to Maze. without any second thought, she hastened her speed and grabbed the other hand of that little girl. The man that was dragging the little girl's hand seemed pissed by Maze's sudden action and out of fret, he pushed Maze to the ground. He hurriedly picked up the little girl and started to run. This movement deepened her suspicion over that man. She too started to run after that man. People were staring at them curiously instead of helping them out. ★ ......................................... ★ Ryan suddenly noticed Maze was not beside him anymore. "Shit ! I should've kept eyes on her" While murmuring cursing himself, he noticed the com
Soon the moment came and Ryan left for his home. Maze felt lonely and monotonous of course. She tried to do some work but couldn't concentrate on anything. After all, Ryan was a very important part of her life, with his departure, it seemed like that part went vacant. She got scolded by Fred a few times for being distracted in her work. She even spilled hot coffee on some customers, broke a flower vase, unintentionally damped a box of pastries. Life couldn't be more distressful than this. At her workplace, Jesha was the only girl with whom she felt not being judged. She understood her better after Ryan. She knew the reason behind these silly acts of Maze. She tried to comfort her but all went in vain. Maze was still cleaning the mess that she created in her workplace. She dropped a bucket of sugar on the floor by mistake and as a penalty, Fred cut half of her paycheck. Jesha walked to her side and crouched down to help her in cleaning. She
Maze with hesitating step, approached the door and hold the shiny aluminum knob before giving it a light twist evoking God's name in her mind. She was quite disappointed as well as relieved since no one was there on the doorstep. She let out the breath stuck in her chest and turned to close the door. But then an unwanted scream left her mouth as something fell on her feet with a loud thud out of nowhere. She closed her eyes with her both palms fisted near her chest in fear waiting to face her possible upcoming doom. She peeked through the corner of her eyes as nothing unexpected happened. She blinked her eyes to proceed with what was happening.A man in full casual wear was laid flat on his chest at her doorstep. She carefully looked around in search of something unusual. She shoved the thought away and then crouched down beside him and hesitantly stretched her hand to turn the man and see his face. His grey suit seemed familiar to her. As she faced th
The next morning Maze woke up a bit late feeling something heavy pressed against her chest making her unable to breathe. She tried to roll on her bed but couldn't as the heavyweight was pinning her in her place. She rubbed her eyes trying to desist the last traces of sleep away from her eyes. While trying to strengthen her sore body she stretched her hand to examine what was on her and her fingers came in contact with something smooth silky as feathers. She grabbed a handful of the soft thing her hand found and pulled it trying to throw it away. But all she got was a painful groan vibrating through her chest, "Ummrggghh" Hearing the groan her eyes snap opened and came in contact with the muscular
‘Should I trust him?! Should I welcome the trouble or should I just protest? It's not that he's gonna value my resolution. So, despite being reluctant, I think I should give it a try since I have no other option except for this.' Maze pinched her lower lips while pondering in her head. “Ummmm... The thing... You just..." Maze stuttered failing miserably to voice her question. His cold gaze was giving her really hard time to even breathe on let alone talk. Mustering up the left crumbled courage in her, she gripped the arm of the chair as her last straw," The thing you just said about leaving after…um…recovery, Should I believe in you?” She suspiciously looked at him trying to extract his expression from his blank face. Imogen sighed and looked at her, “I don’t lie Tinker bell, I find it futile…Though I hate to repeat my word. But let me restate once again for you," He shifted and straightened his back while assuring her through his oceany blue eyes," I would leave as soon as I recover
Maze changed into a cleaning suit and prepared to clean her house. She felt a slap of humiliation by the thought that it was already a year since she last cleaned her own house. She sighed heavily. Even before starting she commenced to feel exhausted. She picked up a mopper and began to sweep the floor very slowly like an old woman. Imogen was interestingly following her every move wondering about'how can a young and enthusiastic girl like her be this lazy'. He couldn't stop himself from gawking at her. Somehow she finished sweeping the floor and brought a bucket filled with water and
Petal following Mrs. Mcmaster walked upstairs, intending to meet Maze, the new lady of Imogen who dared to take her place in his life. Maze was looking out, she hasn’t for once stepped out since she entered the guest room allotted to her. She was embarrassed and nervous to face Imogen, Orion, Veronica and Fergus as well. Most importantly she was scared of facing Imogen whom she turned down and refused to return back with him. Nothing from west wing was visible to the sight from the main section of the building, she wanted too bad to see Imogen, she even tried to sneak into his wing but couldn’t gather up her scrambled courage. A deep sigh escaped her mouth as for the umpteenth time she failed to find any trace of Imogen. As she took her eyes off the window, she turned back and met the unexpected entry in her room, she was startled and kind of alerted seeing both Petal and Mrs. Mcmaste
Veronica and Orion side by side, with suitable distance between them yet the brewing romance linger upon the newly formed couple, walked downstairs, not informed of the pair of eyes they already got on them. It was Orion who noticed it first and immediately he jolted apart, a sense of flush rose up to his cheek, but he managed to mask it well behind his as usual poker face. Veronica was confused by his reaction but soon she too flushed having unwanted attention. Imogen smiled enjoying pressurizing both the couple, he placed his elbow on the handrest of the couch on he was sprawled and propped his chin over his palm. Orion pretending serious with crease formed upon his wide forehead curtained by few streaks of hair. As Orion sat across the curved wooden chair, Imogen joked waving his brows, ”Appeared any time soon a marriage
Veronica was stressed since after the party was over, Orion haven’t talked to her yet nor did he mentioned anything regarding what happened there. After seeing him possessive over her, she thought every misunderstanding between them was over, but she was wrong. As his behavior stated that nothing has changed, he still wasn’t ready to sort things out between them. She biting her nails went to the kitchen intending to help the cook to prepare for dinner. There she found them quite busy, and from what they said she understood they were preparing the foods for some special guest of their young master that means Ryan. Veronica circled her lips in the shape of O and began to help them as much as she can. But they didn’t accept her help rather shoved her out as politely as possibly they could deny her. Being reluctance, she left the kitchen and walked ba
By the time Imogen returned home, the sun was already peeping evading the darkness disseminated all around. Imogen with sadness and anger towards his fate walked to his mansion. He understood that nothing lost comes back, like the breath of the body gets lost forever. He never expected Maze to forgive him, but surely hoped she wouldn't decline if he stretched his hand to her. With her rejecting him, he shattered into million pieces, he had no answer for all the questions she had asked. He has a burning heart like the ashes of a cigarette, waiting for the burnt figure to fall into the air. He without a single noise walked past the entrance and crossing the hall area, as he pushing the door open entered his study. He sprawled over the couch, sighing heavily letting the tingling sensation calm down a bi
Maze looked out through the window of the SUV, then looked back at Ryan who was strapping his seat belt occupying the driving seat. Maze exhaled heavily, she had to give up in front of Ryan. She dropped a message in both the contact of Fred and Jesha. She doesn't want them to worry, thinking about her like the last time. Before starting the engine, Ryan asked looking at her," Ready?! It's time to leave." Even though asked for her consent, but in reality, he was just informing her that it was the time, with no intention to ask for her conclusion. Maze acknowledged waving her head, as she too well knew that her acquiescence wasn't what he was seeking. With a wide grin, placing the key Ryan
Maze was already crying, the pain in her head shoot up as she tried to get up from the ground. She decided to consume another round of pills to get rid of the pain and sleep if possible. She poured herself a glass of water and as she was approaching the drawer to bring out the med box, her doorbell ringed declaring the possible company on her doorstep. Hissing in disappointment, she dropped the work she was doing and walked towards the door to see the person who dared to disturb her at the moment. As she opened the door, her eyes widened in astonishment, "You !!" ★......................★ Ryan left the party after his brother, he had various thoughts running in his mi
"What are you even talking about? Are you insane? You have a fiance and she's back here for you. You cheated me then how can you accept me to believe you again?" Maze yelled throwing water at his face. she was breathing hard, her chest rose and fell with rapid breaths. Her eyes burned red with anger.Imogen startled stayed there, didn't dodge to escape the splash of water from hitting his face. He closed his eyes as water droplets began to drip down his face. He covered his face with his hand, and wiped the water. He then shoved his wet hair back away from his face. Anger flared in him as well, but he chose to comply and swallow the bitter solution of his own wrath, and talk to her, as he owes her an explanation. He stared at her furious face, even the ugly touch of odium couldn't cease her charm, not even a single drop. Keeping his thoughts aside, he focused back on the discussion they were having, he grumpily said, "She's not my fiance. She's just my ex nothing
Maze returned home, exhausted by the work she had to manage almost the whole day without taking any break. Fred even tried to persuade her to catch a recess and have something. But she was adamant about not stopping until finishing all the work assigned to her. She wants to immerse herself in the work so much, that his thoughts don't get a chance to haunt her even in her nightmares. She lazily searched for the key beneath the flower plant by her doorstep. Using the key she unlocked her doors and stepped inside, turning back instantly locked the door behind her. From the moment she was inside her house, she threw her flat shoes, each in opposite direction. She then began to unbutton her dress exhaling deep sighs. Every muscle of her body was screaming in pain and lassitude. She shouldn't have tortured herself this much. She stretched her arm over her body, and instantly a sharp pain shoot up to her spinal cord, almost cramping her fibers. She cursed under her breathe,
The noise of popping champagne and clinking glasses filled the room. The festive mood was maintained in every part of the room, wide grins could be seen in every face some but hard to detect which one among them was a facade. Mr. Mcmaster left early as he needed to take a rest, besides after handing over all the responsibility on the hand of Imogen, he no longer had any wish to stay among the youngsters and welcome hangover having alcohols. Ryan was in a corner with a glass in his hand, watching crowds of people simpering. He didn't leave after his mother, as he intended to stay and be a part of the celebration. Inwardly he was really happy for his elder brother, but the situation made it tougher for him to openly be a part of the ceremony. He slowly took a sip from his glass while looking at his brother surrounded
