I sat in the prison visitation room, trying to make small talk with my parents. My dad was being his usual jovial self, but my mom seemed off.
"Hey, kiddo, how's life behind bars?" my dad asked, chuckling.
I laughed. "It's not so bad. I've got my books and my thoughts."
My mom sighed. "Linda, this isn't funny. You're in prison."
I rolled my eyes. "Come on, Mom. Don't be so serious. I'm fine."
