CHAPTER 36

KITANA

A hopeful smile appeared on my lips when I opened my eyes and saw the softness in his eyes now. Tears of hope flowed down my cheeks, and I even chuckled softly.

His red eyes gazed at my face, filled with affection. He didn't say anything, but his expression spoke volumes. My kiss had indeed calmed him down.

I offered a silent thank you to the goddess for that.

"Kitana..." His voice turned soft as he called my name, and then tears began to roll down his eyes as he looked at me.

His expression had shifted to a sad one now.

"My best friend, Caesar, is gone," Mordax said, his voice breaking as tears rolled down his cheeks while he shook his head.

"I loved that motherfucker so much! We grew up and trained together for many years," he managed to say through his tears. I held his shoulders and nodded, encouraging him to let his emotions out.

"I know, I know. But I can't lose you too. I can't lose you both on the same day, Mordax," I sobbed, looking into his blurred red eyes.
