CHAPTER – 4

Olivia pov

“Your father told me to bring you home immediately,” my driver said, making me roll my eyes in frustration. This is the second time he has sent a driver to my office. First, when we have to go to some of the richest parties, he sends a driver to pick me up. knowing very well that I am at work. And now here, he sends him again when I am busy with my client.

“ Tell him I am busy” I said, making the driver look at me.

"Donovan, sir, said it's urgent, and he does not want to listen to any excuse,“ he said nervously, making my brow frown. Ah, I can't even shout at him, he is just doing his duty. I sigh, knowing what he will do if I don't come, so I quietly sit in the car as the driver starts the car.

Soon we will reach it. I am really boiling in anger. I have to tell him he can't send a driver whenever he wants to. I can't hold my clients. This only makes my reputation as a psychiatrist go down. The car stops making me get out of the car. As I slam the car door in anger, I am going to enter my house when I bump into someone.

I look up only to see David? He looked at me in slight shock.

“What are you doing here in my house? I ask. I was slightly pissed off. I mean not I wanted to but just not in the mood to talk nicely hearing me he frown his eyes.

"Oh, I just thought I'd drop by and see how messy your place is today.” He said it with a grin on his face.

“Very funny. You must be here to give me cleaning tips, right?” I said, making his grin vanish in a second.

Good one, Olivia.

“Well, someone has to help you out. Your place looks like a tornado hit it,” he said with the most disgusted look ever. This old man is really checking my patience.

“Oh, coming from the guy who can't even fold his own laundry properly.” I said, making him scoff.

“Touche. At least my laundry doesn't end up on the floor like your cooking experiments.” He said, making my smile vanish, that motherfucker James can't even hide a single thing from him. Is it really necessary to tell him about my cooking skills?

“I guess I'll just head out then, I don't want to ruin your perfectly messy home.” He said that, making me more pissed off.

“Whatever, just leave from my side.” I said while pushing him when he held my hand and pulled me towards him, making me gasp.

As I look at him, “You can't go away disrespecting me like this,” he says in anger. His jaw tightens, making me chuckle.

"I'm not disrespecting you, I simply don't have any respect for you," I said while pushing him as I went straight to my house.

“Mannerless,” he shouted while leaving, making me ignore him.

I know my worth and I won't let anyone, especially someone like him, bring me down.

I went straight towards my dad's office without knocking. I went straight inside. He looked at me before speaking. "Where are your manners? Why don't you knock?” he said while glaring at me, making me shrug off his question as I straight came to the point.

“You just can't call me whenever you want. I'm on the job,” I said in frustration.

“ I can call you whenever I want to when it comes to something important,” he said, making me look at him in disbelief.

"So, what's the important event? A fancy work party or meeting some wealthy person?" I ask, furrowing my eyebrows.

"Do you recall Mr. Wilson?" he questioned, causing me to nod slightly.

"Whose son proposed to me in front of everyone?" I asked, prompting him to nod.

"Yes, the one you turned down. We're attending his party," he said, leaving me in shock.

I couldn't believe it. Just a few months ago, I had met Alex, Mr. Wilson's son, who had fallen in love with me and irritated me by constantly visiting my house and trying to convince my father to accept his marriage proposal.

He's such a pain in ass . He's a total play boy trying to get with me, Forcing him on myself. Thankfully, he's not wealthy enough for my dad to arrange a marriage for his own gain. But he does have enough money to throw a lavish party.

"Dad, I don't want to go. It's going to be so awkward," I said in frustration, but he just brushed it off.

"Keep your awkwardness to yourself, Olivia. We're going to that party, end of story," he said before walking out of the room.

I sighed in frustration, knowing that arguing with my father was useless. As much as I hated the idea of attending the party and having to deal with Alex who was constantly trying to charm his way into my life, I knew I had no choice but to go along with it.

ahhh fuck. I throw my hands in the air as frustration wash over me. As I leave the office. I straight entered my room throwing my body on my bed. I close my eyes trying to control my anger when the door opens revealing mom.

She smiles at me, holding something in her hands. I sit up as she joins me on the bed, handing me a box. Confusion washes over me as I look at her.

"What's this?" I ask. She smiles at me.

"The dress you have to wear to the party," mom says, making me roll my eyes. Here we go.

"Get ready in 15 minutes, we're leaving," she says, getting up. She's about to leave when I stop her with my words.

"Mom, I don't want to go, please," I say, only to receive a sigh from her.

"Can't go against your dad, so get ready fast," she says as she closes the door, causing me to angrily throw the box on the floor.

I quickly grab the box and open it to find a black short dress with white dots. It's not too revealing, but it does have a slightly deep neckline. I lay the dress on the bed and get up with a yawn to start getting ready.

As I slip into the dress, I can't help but admire how it hugs my curves in all the right places. I pair it with some black heels and simple accessories before heading out the door.

As I headed downstairs, I caught James chatting with dad and laughing. I pretended not to notice and kept walking. Dad's eyes scanned me from head to toe, probably checking if I was dressed appropriately. Meanwhile, mom seemed to be enjoying the whole scene.

“ Well let's go” dad said, making us nod at him. I straight sit in the car soon James also sits with me.

“You look beautiful,” he said, looking at me ,making me yawn.

“ Thanks wish I could say the same” I said with a sarcastic smile making him ignore me, a scoff left from my mouth seeing him like this.

Soon the driver started the car and we soon reached the venue.

The venue was a grand ballroom, adorned with sparkling chandeliers and elegant decorations. As we stepped out of the car, the sound of music and laughter filled the air, creating an atmosphere of excitement.

I could feel my heart racing with a mix of nervousness.

As we entered the ballroom, the sight that greeted us was breathtaking. The room was filled with beautifully dressed people, their gowns and tuxedos adding a touch of glamour to the event. The soft glow of candlelight illuminated the room, casting a warm and inviting aura.

I glanced over at James, who seemed to be in his element, effortlessly mingling with the crowd. His charismatic smile and charming personality drew people towards him like moths to a flame.

I couldn't help but wish I possessed the same ease and confidence that rich people party.

Trying to shake off my insecurities, I joined my parents in greeting familiar faces and exchanging pleasantries.

The room was abuzz with conversations and laughter, making me feel exhausted.

Feeling a bit overwhelmed, I excused myself from the crowd and made my way towards the bar.

“ One bear,” I said. I look at the bartender only to be shocked. what Sofia is doing here. She looked at me in shock.

“ Olivia, what are you doing here?” she asked in shock.

“Just come to the party, what about you” i ask seeing me she scoff .

“ you know my work I am here assigned as bartender” she said making me nooded. Thank God Sofia is here. She's been my best friend since school, even though she lives alone in New York while her parents are in a village. She's always there for me, knowing everything about my family. It's comforting to have her by my side.

Especially during times like these, when I needed someone to lean on. Sofia had always been my side, and my partner in crime. We had shared countless memories together, from sneaking out of our boarding school dorms to explore the city streets, to late-night heart-to-heart.

Sofia expertly mixed a cocktail, her hands moving with grace. As I look at her.

She leaned against the counter, her eyes filled with curiosity. "So, spill the tea, girl. What's been going on with you lately?" she asked, making me scoff.

I just got dragged to this dull party," I mentioned, receiving a cocktail from her. I squinted my eyes in response.

"I requested a bear, not a cocktail," I said, causing her to laugh.

"You need this more than a bear," she replied. Before I could say anything, a loud voice interrupted us.

I turn around only to see dad is standing in the middle of the stage with a mic confusion wash over me as he start speaking.

“Everyone, I love to announce to you all that finally I fixed my daughter Olivia's marriage with the richest tycoon in this world, David Dawason,” he said. Hearing him, everyone started cheering, and some started gossiping.

I stood up in shock, and my whole body froze on the spot.

There is no way it's fucking real!!!
